Moderators not getting emails #groupowner #messages

I am a moderator of a group which I started as owner and then, once ownership was established by the co-op subscription, my status was changed from owner to moderator. I have verified that, as moderator, I am set to receive all emails sent to main+owner, but I'm not receiving them. I have checked the owner email account and the message got through to that account but not to my email, as moderator. Is there a built-in delay that anyone knows of? Or is there another setting that could be interfering with me receiving these emails?

Thanks.

Ok, I got it worked out. It appears that I didn't receive the email to main+owner because I was the sender. I sent an email from my work account and it showed up in very short order. Sorry to bother anyone, but I hope this may save someone else from having to post this same issue.

Thanks for posting this. I had wondered why I haven't seen my main+owner post sent back to me. It sure would be nice to have them echoed back or an option to have them echoed back as a verification that they were sent to the other owners/moderators.

Gmail strikes again.

I guess it would be a reasonable suggestion (on beta) to have the gmail work-around (the I always want copies of my own messages checkbox in your account profile) apply to +owner messages as well as group postings. Kind of an edge case, but it trips me up from time to time (and makes me glad I have a second email address as moderator on my groups).

Ken,

I believe that Groups.io does forward them to all mods/owners, including the sender when that is one of the mods/owners. Subject to the individual mod/owner's Owner Email Subscription setting of course.

The situation you face is (I think) slightly different than Gary's. Where Gmail accepts but hides messages that you sent upon their return (as from an email list or forwarding) Outlook has been reported to reject such messages outright. The logic being that it must be a forgery if it claims to be From your address but was delivered to them by another service (Groups.io). For this case a different work-around would be required - Groups.io would need to replace the From field with one that isn't your email address.

If you receive your own group postings back at Outlook that would imply that Groups.io has implemented some work-around, or convinced Outlook to "play nice" with group postings, to overcome the problem that was reported earlier (Outlook users seeing their own messages in their Bounce history).

Shal,
I am cc'd on my Board of Director emails that I send out from one of my gmail addounts to several others but always include myself.
And I always receive it back to the same gmail account.
Could it be some sort of special "gmail glitch" in groups.io?

Bob,

I am cc'd on my Board of Director emails that I send out from one of my gmail addounts to several others but always include myself.
And I always receive it back to the same gmail account.

In conversation mode Gmail will normally show you the message you sent, not the message that came back. When you turn conversation mode off (as I do) your sent message appears only in the Sent folder, not also in the Inbox, so the appearance is that you don't receive your own messages back.

With a mailing list you can usually tell the difference by the footers and other changes the mailing list makes. With a cc you might have to look at the View Source to see if the message you see went and came back again. Although I suppose it is also possible that Gmail makes an exception for cc'd messages - they could tell that you intended to receive it back.
Could it be some sort of special "gmail glitch" in ?

No, this has been a FAQ on Yahoo Groups and other list services for ages.

The technical detail is that Gmail matches the Message-ID of the received message with the one in your Sent folder and hides the "duplicate". The work-around at Groups.io is to replace the Message-ID when sending your group post back to you.

are you sure that Outlook is causing the problem with owner sent emails being blocked by Outlook?? Is there no fix to this that can be implemented by an owner?

I suppose I will just use the workaround of doing my postings from the second email address and thereby getting the post to my owner email address along with everyone else in the group.

Seems?like it should be an option to select if it is such a well established problem.
