These are common problems for folks that have been on YG and are now using GIO.? A simple work-around is to have them click on the Join link on the home page your group. You say "when a message is sent..." - that email should be a blank email sent to that email address. Not a post. That email address is just an automated request to join the group. That is a rejection notice of the post. If the error message is coming from Yahoo.com, as you say it is, that means the message is being sent to Yahoo.com and not to Groups.io. That is likely where the problem lies. They need to send the subscribe request to the correct address. There is no connection between Yahoo and Groups.io. Sending a message to one has no effect on the other.

When I send a message to [groupname etc.] the first address on my mailer's list is the oldest, i.e., the yahoogroup version of the list. I need to be careful to NOT accept the first address the mail program throws up but to continue to type in enough letters to get the correct address.

Might I suggest that you a) inform your members that they need to double check that their mail is going to io and not Yahoo, or b) insert a URL they can click on and warn them to use only that address, or c) in some other manner alert them to being aware of sending to io groups and not yahoo. I AM aware of this anf occasionally still make that mistake, so it's not easy; we need to be diligent ourselves and make life easy for those who are not always on the alert for a mis-adressed email. Some of us are older than others and far too often give in to doing things by rote that we've done for years. Please try to warn us when we're likely to get caught by the changes. Could your members be sending mail to the old Yahoo Group because that
address is the first that pops up in their mail program?

I know it is in mine, and I need to check possible addresses and select the right one. Maybe a warning ought to be included. Sandy At 08:05 PM 12/22/2019, you wrote: ?? ? I would assume there are similar strategies for other interfaces. Frances ? -- Moving to Groups.io (without easy transfer)

Alan,
When a message is sent to [GROUPNAME][email protected]These must be members using Yahoo Mail - that's the only way they would get a message from Yahoo.com's mailer daemon. Yahoo is not involved at all.Yahoo Groups is not, but Yahoo Mail evidently is. that says "We are unable to deliver your message to the followingYou left out the important part -- the address that would have been cited. "510: 5.1.1 That group does not exist"That would be the error response that Groueps.io gave to Yahoo Mail when the delivery failed. However, it does exist. It might, but that doesn't mean that the would-be subscriber spelled its name right. Very carefully check the address cited in the error returned by the mailer daemon. The subscribe request may come from Gmail or AOL or other emailIn which case it would have been some other mailer daemon giving the error return. Yes, when I copied the email address from your group homepage, I got the expected result from Groups.io
The mystery is solved! Simply a typo. Frances -- Moving to Groups.io (without easy transfer)

Alan,
Below is a request to join. Note that is from an AOL address andIt could be because Verizon bought both AOL and Yahoo. They may be merging those systems. Glad you found the actual problem though. In the past when facing this kind of mystery I've resorted to pasting the two addresses into Notepad, one above the other on adjacent lines, to compare them letter by letter. Notepad defaults to a fixed-pitch font which makes it a lot easier to see differences involving thin letters like i and l.
