#issue No mails delivered to any of the group except owner #issue

Daniel P?tzold

Hi together,

I want to move our Google group to groups.io
Now I created a new group and added some of my several e-mail accounts to the group to test its reliability.
But whenever I send a mail to the group address, only the address which is owner of the group gets an e-mail notification - twice. I receive every post twice with the owner address, but none at all with all the others.

Can someone help me with this?

thanks
Daniel

Have you checked the other accounts to see if they're set for Individual Messages?? Are you sending the message to the group address and not the +owner address?

I have repeatedly checked if all accounts have the same settings. Whereby I won't expect to not receive mails after enlisting by just replying to the invitation-mail.
All messages have always been sent to the group address.

I even created a second group to see if I made a mistake within the creation process. But I got the same result there...

How were the accounts added?? Direct Add, Invite, web signup?? What's the name of the group (so we can look at the home page and see the group settings)?
Have the added addresses been confirmed (do not show NC in members list)?
Thanks

I'm kinda guessing here, but I suspect you have the group set for "reply to sender" and have "copy self" turned on in your Account settings.

Go to Admin->Settings->Message Policies. There is a "Reply To" pull-down menu. Make sure it says "Group," then click the blue "Update Group" button at the bottom of the page.

Now click on your name (or email address) at upper right and select "Account." Click the Preferences tab at left. At the bottom of the page there is a checkbox that says "I always want copies of my own messages." Uncheck that, and click the "Update Preferences" button.
?
Hoping this helps,
Bruce

I just figured it out.

All my different E-Mail Accounts still had my full name as name of sender.
Apparently, groups.io isn't differentiating between e-mail addresses but between names. And since my name was always the same, I always got 2 mails to my main address, no matter which one sent the mail.

I added my wife and all works with that.

thank you all!

No, that's not right. Whether inbound (posting) or outbound (receiving) the actual email address is all that matters - the display name portion of the address is just for display purposes - it isn't used by software.

And since my name was always the same, I always got 2 mails to my main
address, no matter which one sent the mail.
If you're talking about messages sent to the group's posting address, it wouldn't matter which address sent the message, as long as it is subscribed to the group (or is an alias for an address that is, or if the group allows non-subscriber posts). And all else being equal, each of your subscribed addresses would receive a copy of the message. That's basic list operation.

One thing you can do to help clarify this is look at the footer of the two copies. At the end of the footer is the subscribed email address. That will likely tell the story.
