David -- I've searched several of my own activity logs in response to your inquiry, and I've yet to find a "resume membership" happen except in the context of a previous "removal for reporting spam." Could you share your Spam Control settings with us? Perhaps Restricted in combination with something else could lead to this sequence of entries. Please also report whatever feedback you get from those who actually experienced this.?

To be clear, you *do* want these guys to be in your group, right? If so, I suggest we avoid getting too excited over some peculiar log entries.

Bruce

In the process of that. That's not my question, though. My question is how did they rejoin without approval. I know that's possible for spam reporters, but I'm trying to find out if it's possible for members who voluntarily leave.

That's what I'm particularly trying to stress. It does NOT say that. It says they "left via web". I've been owner of this group long enough and had enough members come and go for spam reporting to know the difference. I've looked through the wiki and searched the message archives here and have not been able to find anything about members rejoining after voluntarily leaving, which is what I see here.

Re: Changing Email Address /Ownership

Why change email addresses?
Make your other email address an Owner of the group, so both email addresses will be Owners.

You could then remove the first email address, but why not just set it to No Email if you don't want to receive messages at both Accounts.

This way you would be taking no 'risk'.

Can you restate your example so that it is clearer?
Are you trying to change your owner email address to a regular member address that is already in use in Groups.io?

I am assuming you are talking about within the same group. If not, you can see this about merging accounts.

Re: #rsvp #calendar #rsvp #calendar

Well? an interesting question.? Yesterday, when I submitted this,? I was using an iPhone SE (1st Gen), but later in the day I upgraded to an iPhone 12 mini.?

So today with the iPhone 12.? if I hold the phone in portrait mode (vertically), I don't see a way to get to the second page.? I also don't see the bottom line of the page - About, Features, Pricing, etc.? ? But if I turn the phone to landscape mode, I do have the link to the second page, plus the About, Features, Pricing line.

However I turned on my iPhone SE and it doesn't matter which way I orient the screen.? The link and the bottom line are not visible. I am assuming that the member first reporting the problem has an older model.

To test further, I logged in on my wife's iPhone 8, and again the link is not visible no matter which way I orient the phone.? ?

So there is some issue with 'older' iPhones.

Are you asking about marketing your group?

Or are you saying that the invitation process isn't working? If it is the invitation process, please give more details. Can you see Invite in Admin? If not, you aren't logged in with your owner email address.

Yes. Each one shows this:?
w...............p@...?resumed membership via web Dec 4
w...............p@... left via web Dec 3
Is it possible they were bouncing? See?/helpcenter/ownersmanual/1/managing-members/checking-for-bouncing-members
And?/helpcenter/ownersmanual/1/additional-information/groups-io-bounce-handling
The list of bouncing members makes no reference now to them bouncing, but I wouldn't have had any reason to look there if the original message was they left via the web.?
About Goodbye notices - see?/helpcenter/ownersmanual/1/managing-member-notices/goodbye-notice
About creating notices - see?/helpcenter/ownersmanual/1/managing-member-notices/creating-editing-or-deleting-member-notices
I read there: "To be sent automatically, the notice must be the active notice (set to Active Message). If no Goodbye notice is set to Active Message, none will be sent." I have other notices created, but not a Goodbye notice, so that's not the issue.

Any other ideas?

ENUF OWNERs

I've seen a few great ownerless lists. But they pale and fade w/o an owner.

One had.3 owners. 2 died within a.month of each other. I PLEADED.with the remaining owner/list-originator to appt the single Mod until she returned from her planned month longntrip.

"When I return."

You might say she never returned. Her email was hacked, despite being a hugely experienced traveler.?

NEVER get caught with 1 owner.
SEALS have a saying;
TWO IS ONE. ONE IS NONE.

Live by it!

In some lists, noone volunteers. I pick someone and "appoint/knight/crown" them, in this case.

NOONE says No.

I tell them that they may be a spare key if a piece of the sky falls.on me... and in which case, IMMEDIATELY DO AS I DID.

So far, all do the very few approvals required, when I don't beat them to it.

Past 25, GET a coowner.
Past 100, get a Mod or coowner. Add instrutions to crown the Mod upon suspicion of a death. 2-400, add a Mod.
They needn't DO anything, if / they desire/d.?

"SPARE KEY!"
That's your necessary mantra.
Immediate backup!
One is NONE...!
