Re: how long it takes to UNBOUNCE ?
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI follow up to Bruce's option. There's also a link in their subscription page, if they are bouncing, and they can click on that as well. They don't necessarily have to click on the link in the email. If you get in touch with them privately, let them know of the website and the email me a login link option. That is the only way that they will see these particular options.

Re: Calendar not consistently sending reminders
#cal-reminder
A few days ago I set up the first two monthly calendar reminders for our street's group, by popular demand, to remind members when street sweeping (and ticketing) will occur.? I ran one test, which worked.? The first real reminders will go out next month.
When you say it was pointed out that the recurring feature was buggy and not recommended, it made me wonder whether that is still true and I should look for another solution. Is the recurring feature still buggy? |

I suggest banning it.When I used to "run" some yahoo mailing lists, when I had a spammer, I did not ban him, as that person would get a message saying he was banned and then, often, he would rejoin the list using a different username and email address. Instead, I put any such person on (permanent) moderation, but then I never approved their messages. I don't think anyone that I handled that way ever checked to see that their messages got to the list, because none ever resubscribed. As an aside: typically on most lists, I would not require moderation of their first message. But, if someone violated the list rules, I would then put them on moderation. |

Mysteriously disappearing messages
I wonder if anyone here could help??? I posted a message to one of my groups - a link for a Zoom call - sent by email.?? Two days later I received several personal emails fro members saying they had not received it.? I checked online and there was no sigh of it.? So I sent it again by email, and that email never arroved either.? However there was no notification to me as sender that it had not gone through.? I have now - apparently successfully - posted the item directly to the group online.? I have also changed my email address.
Can anyone advise why this might have happened, and how I can prevent it happening again? John Wood |

Did you add the new owner BEFORE you tried to remove the old one? Dano ----- Original Message -----
We have subgroups for subcommittees of our committee. Naturally, I am not on every subcommittee and don't want/need/should have emails from every subcommittee. So, as owner of the main group when I created each subcommittee, I made the subcommittee chair the owner of the subgroup and for the subcommittees I am not on, removed myself. Now, the chairs of one of the subcommittees has changed. I can access the subgroup members list, but I cannot change the owner. The actions list I see is for the new chair after adding them to the subgroup is: and if I try to remove the current one, I get "The member cannot be removed because they are the sole owner of the group." which is logical enough. Adding myself back to the subgroup does not permit me to escalate myself back to owner. I don't see anything the owners manual or wiki that addresses this. Suggestions welcome. Best, Glenn P.S. The current subgroup owner is very non-technical, which is why they are asking me to do this for them. Otherwise, I would just tell them the steps instead of trying to do it for them. |

Assuming you are an Owner of the main group, you should be able to do this. Just Direct Add yourself to the subgroup, enter that subgroup, and change your Role record. Could you be logged in with the wrong email address? If that doesn't work please send us a screenshot (or something) to demonstrate at which point the failure occurs. I just checked and found that I can change the Role of anyone in a subgroup where I'm just a member (also if NOT a member) because I'm an owner of the main group and have implied ownership of all subgroups.? I can even change my own Role between Member and Owner when I've joined the subgroup.? I'm doing it from the actual member's page by clicking on the row, not from action drop down on the member list. Re: Owner can't change owner of a subgroup?
Actually I just remembered that how easy it is to add a member to a subgroup. If you are a member of a subgroup, you can see for yourself and write specific instructions. (Or do it over the phone, so you can give step-by-step instructions.) ? |

Re: Calendar not consistently sending reminders

Chuck Palmer
Gayle,
I've run into similar problems with our club's 2 monthly meetings.? I have each one of them setup in the group's calendar to send out reminders 1 day and also 2 hours before the meeting times.? It is "wonky" at best. Most times the 1-day prior reminder does come out; rarely, if ever, does the 2 hours one get sent out;? neither came out for today's meeting at 13:30 EST. I mentioned this issue a year or two ago in the GMF - back when I was setting them up as recurring.? At that time it was pointed out that the recurring feature was buggy and not recommended so I stopped setting them up that way and have done each month manually since then.? It works better but in no way has it been 100% reliable for me.? So I now send also out meeting reminders via MailChimp and also post them on our website.? I do put the Zoom link in our groups.io calendar event for security purposes. Please let me know if you resolve the issue. Kind regards, -chuck |
