The initial Account page isn't asking for a password, that's where you would change it if you wanted to.? Yes, each person needs to go to that page, then select Preferences on the left, to set the timezone they're in if it's other than Pacific.? If I remember correctly, this is one of the things that can be set when creating a new account.? The group owner has no control over this.

Unfortunately, there's currently not a single place to see all the messages.? You have to look at the '+owner Messages' page for each member.? There have been several requests on beta@ to have an overall view and include replies by the owner/moderator that aren't now logged.? There's a major overhaul of the notifications planned, but only Mark knows the schedule.

It isn't my settings that matter, but those of one of the members of the group. Is there any way I can check this?

Check your account and look at Preferences,
That should be the same as the setting at the very bottom of the
calendar.

When I go there it seems to be asking for a password. I don't recall ever setting any passwords. How do I find out what this is?

So does every member of the list need to set their timezone?

Perhaps this will help.
Each group has a forum of Messages, each message has a Topic (subject).? The left navigation link for Messages will take you to a listing of Messages.
At the top of the Messages display, there is a button (next to the Search button) to select (via drop down list) the following views:
  • Messages? - show me each Message sorted by date
  • Topics - show me all the Messages grouped (collapsed) by Topic (subject), again by date of most recent activity
  • Expanded - show me all the Messages grouped by Topic, but expand them all on the screen.
  • Polls - show me Polls
As you noticed, Chats are synchronous, kinda like .? Be nice if this was added to the FAQ page.

I don't know what you mean by "folder" in this context, but it's just an email address that reaches the group owner and any other moderators you set to receive owner emails. You can set the options for each moderator under "Owner Email" in the moderator's member page.?

Hello,

Are you asking where you can see messages sent to the owner email address?

I just tested it - they come to my own email address (for the group I own).

Additionally I can see the activity in Admin, Activity - so I could see past ones there too.

Transfer completed - very speedy, thanks Mark. All our files and photos
correctly transferred. But we are a very small group, there was only
20MB or so of them anyway.

A subscriber on one of my lists has informed me that everything in the digest he gets is time stamped PST. Both he and I are in the Central timezone. I checked on the calendar for the group and it is marked as Central Time. Is there some other place I need to set the timezone to have digests work correctly?

Hi
I have just opened a Group to explore the options in the face of the problems being expereincedthrough Yahoo!.
Can anyone explain to me the differences between Chats, Topics and Messages?
The new Group I have created has Chats and Topics as seperateitems on the navigation panel. This enviornment has Chats and Messages.
The icon for Chats suggests it is a synchronous communication tool.
Any guidance would be welcomed

Can you give us more detail on the non-deliverable reply? Somewhere in
the body of that reply should be a three-digit code followed by a
sentence or two describing the problem.

The last two week's change logs:



Feel free to reply to this topic if you'd like to comment on the
changes. Or better yet, if you expect a lot of discussion start a new
topic (or rejoin an existing one) about a specific change.


* On the website, do not pull hashtags out from the middle of a
subject anymore, but duplicate them at the end instead.
This affects only the view in the Messages of the group (not email delivery), but is a welcome improvement to hashtag behavior. It works better for the natural (or common) practice of writing a sentence or phrase with one or more words as hashtags.


* Bounce any messages with subject lines that begin with
'Private:'.
This may cause a few mystery bounces, but will help for instances where one member used the Private message feature and the recipient accidentally (or otherwise) tried to post their reply to the group.


Comments about these others are also welcome:

NEW: For enterprise groups that do not allow signups, disable the email +subscribe command.

Did you specify that everything should be copied when you requested the transfer?? That's the only thing I can think of on your end that might make a difference.? Could also just be lag because of the large number of groups that are being transferred.

I am afraid I am confused about the use of each and how to enable
members of my group to view either or both
The Members list includes all members, and includes subscription information such as their email address and their delivery settings. I suspect many groups would make this available to moderators only as a question of member privacy. In my classmates groups I do make the Members list available to members - we all know each other in person anyway so sharing our email addresses is a benefit rather than a risk.

The Directory contains profile information (picture and display name) for each member and is a link to their group profile (where they may provide details like their location, a personal web site, and comments about themselves (a bio or whatever they wish to write).

When viewed by a moderator the Directory includes all members, even those who have not set up a profile. When viewed by a member the Directory includes only those members who have entered some profile information. Adding profile information is entirely voluntary, and in most of my groups few members have done so.

The controls for who can see the Members list and the Directory are in the Privacy section of the Group's Settings page. For the Directory the settings are
o Subscribers,
o Moderators and Owners, or
o Member Directory is disabled.
For the Members list the settings are similar, but in place of disabled is "Owners only".

Our group was just transferred and the member list went very smoothly.
There haven't been any of the old messages or files and photos copied
yet, is that normal or did I forget to do something?
It is normal for the content to take a bit longer to copy over.

Usually not too much longer, but Yahoo limits how often an IP address can access their systems, so this limits how fast Groups.io can copy things. That, together with the large number of groups trying to transfer right now may explain it.

Also, Yahoo Groups as a service has been having some operational problems (prompting the large number of group transfers) and that may itself be further slowing the copy process.
