Re: New io group not activated
Rod,
I thought I sent the right email to have the files, photos andI think that's a sign that you sent the correct email to start the process. I was to believe this would take a few days but it has been a week.I don't know. It may be that the copy hit a snag and and Mark hasn't noticed. Or maybe the flood of transfer requests is just taking that long. You could send another email to [email protected] to express your concern. Also need to know the transfer of all messages if that can be done?I don't know if the copy process proceeds one section at a time, or in what order. I would kind of expect that messages would be second, after members. Shal |
Re: Yahoo email address contortions
Drew,
Can someone please give me a quick refresh on why a Yahoo emailIt's called DMARC. It is a protocol whereby an email sending service can tell email receiving service to reject any message that doesn't come directly from the sending servers and is not an exact copy of one was sent from them. Basically it is considered to be an anti-spoofing technology, but it has the side-effect of causing messages that go by way of mailing lists (such as Yahoo Groups or Groups.io or Mailman, or ...) to be rejected, or sent to spam. Yahoo and a few other email services have that turned on. To help ensure that messages from the afflicted members (yes, I meant it that way) are actually delivered to other group members Groups.io mangles the From address, so that the message is now From groups.io, but still contains the sender's email address so that you can untangle it if you wish. Yahoo Groups' response to the same problem is to mangle everyone's address, and much more grossly. Shal |
New io group not activated
? On December 4th I started a new group for a replacement of the Yahoo group for the SONY shortwave radio the ICF-2010....??/g/SonyICF20102001Dusergroup
I thought I sent the right email to have the files, photos and documents transferred but to date it shows nothing even though the red message shows the group will go live when the files are transferred. I was to believe this would take a few days but it has been a week. Any ideas? ? Also need to know the transfer of all messages if that can be done? Thanks Rod aka poikaa@... |

Tim,
Our group just finished migrating today. We've had a couple of membersThey don't have one until and unless they set one. Or, they can use the "Email me a link to log in" button. That will send them a link which will take him/her to their list of groups (I think), logged in for 30 days. They need never set a password, just ask for another emailed login link when needed. This is particularly handy on mobile devices where typing or copy/pasting a strong password can be a chore. One in particular said when he asks for his password to be reset/sentIt should take him to a prompt for him to enter his email address. Then Groups.io will send an email with a link in it. The link will take him to his account page where he can set a password. Shal |

I want to try out the Slack member integration mentioned in the features section but I am not seeing any how-tos. I don't see it mentioned specifically under the paid features.
I go here:? Go to Sync'd with Slack team You must authenticate with Slack to continue. Authenticate With Slack?
?
And? when I click it gives me an OAUTH error message.?I am stuck on what to do next. |
Re: Viewing Group message format settings
David,
Yes I know, but as you say, it doesn¡¯t include them all, especiallyDelivery type? That's something each subscriber sets for him/herself. That you can see on your Subscription page. In the left column, just below the link for the group's home page. Shal |

Re: FW: One member having mail issues, help please.
Hi Gilly,
One of my members is having issues with cc ing in me and a few otherIf these are replies she's posting, some email interfaces allow the user to select "Reply to all" as the default reply method. That would likely post to both the group and the original sender. She'd have to look for that setting in her email interface. I¡¯m pretty sure the issue is her end but I also remember seeing aIn the Message Policies section of your group's Settings page is the "Reply To" option. It can be set to one of: Group, Sender, Moderators, or Group and Sender. I agree with you though, this isn't likely the problem if it is just the one member having the issue. Shal |
Re: timezone in digests
Tony,
Your email header shows. The date field is ordinarily supplied by the email user interface, in my case Thunderbird. "-0800" is my current UTC offset (U.S. Pacific standard time). During Daylight time my offset is -0700. Delivery-date: Mon, 11 Dec 2017 09:15:41 +0200That field was most likely added by your email service. So we have: 10 Dec 2017 23:14:25 -0800 my time, equals 11 Dec 2017 07:14:25 -0000 UTC, equals 11 Dec 2017 09:14:25 +0200 your time 11 Dec 2017 09:15:41 +0200 your email service received it -------------------- = 1:16 Time in transit Actually, all but a second or two of that time in transit would have been spent waiting in GMF's Pending queue (because 100% of messages here are moderated). A major problem in email timezones is that gmail uses their ownThat's not always the case. I know gmail users in other timezones whose Date field is correctly represented in their UTC offset. But even so, I'm not sure why it would be a major problem if Gmail did always use their own timezone. Shal |

The basic settings are listed on the home page of the group under Group
Settings. This obviously doesn't include them all. Dave On 11 Dec 2017 at 16:25, David Ferrington, M0XDF wrote: Can a non-admin view the settings of a group they are a member of? |
