bouncing

Today I found that I was bouncing and I am the owner and answer every letter and never leave any thing in my inbox.
So how come I was bouncing?

Now I have a member who is very sick bouncing and I can't change this. Is there any way for me to unbounce her?

Thanks

Anita

I made a short post as an attachment and posted it in the Yahoogroup.
(For the purpose of that letter it doesn't matter if my remark about Mark is correct.)

I didn't get a single question.

I was stupid in deleting everyone but the AWOL owner and myself from Yahoo. I should have marked them all as Moderated in case someone was still posting to it.
It has now been a couple of months and no repercussions.

Problem
I use LibreOffice if I must use HTML (my eMail client posts in plain TXT only).
When I tried to attach it, it all looked weird, unreadable, see attached.
Had to open and save as DOC to attach.

Re: Reporting Spam Message

Hi Tony,

It's not my email that's the problem, but what you say is interesting, as
the emails that fail are all from the same domain, which is a .org address.

Thanks for that - gives me a good clue where to go now.

Cheers/Phil

Hallo Phil

You should ask your email service supplier.
That is where the message came from.
Looks like it is gradwell.net

(No) Feedback on transfer?

I've been waiting a week now for a transfer. Whenever I bring up the transfer page and fill in the names it usually comes up with only the 'Start Transfer' button which looks like the process hasn't yet begun. If I click on that it will bring up the 'Start Transfer' plus an 'Update' button and if I click 'Start Transfer' again subsequent page loads show only 'Update' - for a while that is.....leave it some hours and we're back to a page telling me to start again..;-) So I'm confused and not sure if I should be pressing start over again.

Done all the preparatory stuff. The group has been been created and have made '[email protected]' a moderator of the Yahoo group. So I'm just waiting, but with no idea of what's going on.

Re: How long does it take for the transfer-bot to accept a Yahoo Groups invite? #transfer

Just thought I'd let you all know that the bot just joined my Yahoo Group a few minutes ago. So it took about a day and a half for the bot to join my group. I'll reply to this thread when the transfer process is complete (I gave the go ahead command). This way if anyone else wants to know about how long it will take, this is a ballpark estimate.

Re: How long does it take for the transfer-bot to accept a Yahoo Groups invite? #transfer

Thanks for the feedback. Our arts group is transferring and we intend to upgrade to premium when the transfer is complete. So far no transfer bot has arrived in our Yahoo Group and it's been 24 hours + since I made the request. I checked, no request for membership is pending, either. I guess I'll just hang tight and wait. If I hear nothing by Friday morning I'll send an email to support here so that I get in the support queue before the weekend. But you're right, it's probably the huge backlog of people fleeing Yahoo causing the delay, and nothing more.

Phil,

Can you let me know how I whitelist an email address?

?

That would depend on your email service. You have a custom domain so I can't even begin to guess.

If you mean at the input to your Groups.io group, there isn't a whitelist nor any need for one. Groups.io does not use content filtering, RBLs, or other techniques which might need to be bypassed.
?

My group seems to have issues with .org addresses.

?

What kind of issues? Trouble joining? Trouble posting? Trouble receiving group messages?

Dennis,

This isn't the same thing but how about a password-protected PDF? Give
only your members the password.

I have often fantasized about this feature. Perhaps you could suggest it on beta.

Tom,

Are photos in messages in a public archive visible to non- members?

Yes.

Are files linked in messages in a public archive accessible to non-members?

Linked?

If you mean attached, also yes.

If you mean a hyperlink, maybe. Not if the file itself is stored in the group's Files section.

Re: Exclusive File Feature Query

Dennis,

Oh, I think I see the question now.

For example, our Club wants to post a membership list/roster, but does not want it viewable or downloadable by non-members or members with limited access (NP).
I misread that as (NC), not confirmed. NC members have only public access - the same as someone not logged in.

NP means Cannot Post - Override: not allowed to post. It does not restrict their access to the content of the group in any way.

So what you want sounds like a new kind of membership, one with limited access to the group's resources. That doesn't exist, at present all members are equal apart from their Posting Privilege.?
?
If this feature does not exist, it might be a good one to consider.
To have it considered you should post it in the beta group. That's the official "suggestion box" for groups.io. If you want, you are welcome to keep posting about it here to refine and flesh out the idea somewhat before you do. Some obvious questions: what are they restricted from? how is this limit applied and removed?

Re: Exclusive File Feature Query

Dennis,

It is not possible to have it be otherwise. Neither Files or Photos in Groups.io (or Y!Groups for that matter) can be accessed without logging in as a member of the group.

For example, our Club wants to post a membership list/roster, but does not want it viewable or downloadable by non-members or members with limited access (NP).

You can allow your group members to access the group's Members list, and/or member Directory, as an alternative to using a file.

Searching Directory #directory

We have the member list disabled except for mods and the owner.

So the Directory which is displayed, is there any way for members to search it????????

Re: Problem with links in emails from Yahoo email users

Peter,

Should I check "Normalize" and un-check "plain text only"?

I'd say yes, as that would allow the links to go through without allowing scripts or other "dangerous" HTML code. Of course vigilance is still required because the links could be to nefarious sites.

You also have Attachments set to Strip, which is good for keeping out malicious attachments but it might also strip the image that accompanies those links - I'm not sure about that. It may depend on how those images are transmitted in the email message.
