In a way I think it is the appendix of Groups.io - its utility lost in the misty past. A user who sets one has a "friendly" URL that brings you to their group profile. For example: It used to be that there was also an URL for one's account profile, but that no longer seems to work: It originally marked the difference between one having a publicly visible profile, or one that only you can see. (Full Name later got changed to Display Name) There was some talk, in the discussion of "anonymous" groups, that it would be sent in the From field of emails, and/or be shown in the group's Members list, in place of the user's actual email address. If people join here before a transfer, I don't think the files and photos will be connected to them once those are done.? That's not a problem. Unless they joined under a different email address than they had in the Y!group. ? If the owner isn't 'found', they get attributed to the group owner. That's what happens when the email address associated with that content isn't present in the Groups.io group at the time that content transferred over. I don't believe there's an option to allow anyone other than the file owner (uploader) and moderators to edit/delete them.? For information that you'd like to allow everyone to change, a database is the only way I know of, provided it's set up that way.

File/Folder Security
All,? Has anyone else needed or wanted a second folder security option? In one of my groups it came up that we would like a set of files to be viewable/editable by any member, and a select of core documents to only be viewable by the members, but moderators/owner can change the contents. Thoughts?? -- ?

when the transfer is eventually done the email addresses already present in your group (those you added) won't get copied. Meaning that their original Y!Group join date, delivery settings, and Posting Privileges won't get copied. ShalThey might, or might not, be annoyed to have to go set themselves to Digest again (or whatever); you might, or might not, be annoyed at having to put them back on moderation again (or whatever). members don't pay attention to the subject and send info that is unrelated to the topic. Can the conversation grouping be disabled? I.E. can each message show independently? It can't be disabled, but you can switch your view to Messages by clicking on the blue Topics button and selecting Messages from the drop-down menu: Your selection is "sticky" unless you use the links on the Groups.io home page; those will reset you to Topics view. Rename Group didn't work
I used Admin Settings to rename a group I had recently created. The operation appeared to complete successfully and the new name appears in the My Groups list but I can't get to its page. Clicking on the new name or typing in the URL, I get a server not found error on either the old or new name. Suggestions?

Win, ? While I understand the desire to "just put stuff (images, etc.) in as an attachment ... my own personal 'reality test' is that if a poster isn't willing to take the time to Upload something to Files or Photos ... then they shouldn't expect that whatever they put in as an attachment has any more "permanence" than the message itself. ? That said - it would seem to me that if an image is in a message (post) then it should "survive as long as the message survives".? I think that the way attachments work is that groups.io actually stores the images in the Photos folder ... but it doesn't keep track of whether it was uploaded or sent as an attachment. ? So, without adding that info "some how" it would seem that if we had a "delete by date" or some other such manner that we might have what we need? Shal, ? This can open up the proverbial can of worms.? One owner/moderator/user wants delete this way, the next one that way, etc. ... and it can be hard to -simply- add deleting images/whatever thru any other method that doing it individually.?
