Re: Group email messages blocked by BT
Just to update from my (brief) period of testing.
I've had the suggested filter in place for a couple of days now and haven't observed any different behaviour. Nothing blocked that should have got through and no spam received at all (or in my on-line spam box). Again, it doesn't help with the problem but sometimes even no information can help the diagnosis. Go to?/account?page=profile&profilesubid=0. The message in the grey box at the top probably explains this. Bruce, ? Yes, I know you can set the profiles for each group which is what I said ±õ¡¯±¹±ð done.? The issue is that details that I can see for some groups on page /account?page=viewprofile are then not displayed when I view the directory entries at the individual group level. ? Andy |

Re: Group email messages blocked by BT
Tim It is good to know that. I used to rage against Artificial Intelligence until I found some real people using it, too. I tried sending a group message with different words in the title just now, and all the messages came through properly and pretty quickly. I then sent another message with a title very similar to the offending title, and that got through promptly as well. Perhaps BT Yahoo can learn from users marking messages as "not spam", but is just a very slow learner. It was exactly the same mailing list, so it should not be a bcc versus individual email issue. My BT Yahoo in fact receives mail with multiple blind copies from a number of sources. We just have to trust BT to be better at knowing which messages we wish to receive than we are. I have a paid-for ISP for anything important. Thanks John Clube On 09/01/2019 14:40, Tim Mitchell wrote:

Outside groups.io, I did have a problem where messages sent to my btinternet.com address about local refuse collection problems were being bounced by BT (i.e, complete rejection rather than delivery to Spam) because the subject line had both of the words "tax" and "refund" in them. |

Re: Move a message into a different topic
Ken,
So I end up w/.several topics listed,Nothing mysterious about that. There's nothing that says topics can't have the same Subject text. Just look at GMF's #changelog. Trying to get a new message into the new topic, I copy/pasted theIf you mean that you edited the messages while pending, I've had mixed results with that. If the incoming messages have In-Reply-To fields in their headers that may derail your edit attempt. I haven't taken the time yet to try and really track down the failed cases to see what the logic must have been. I failed to communicate. I want to get to the individual user profile in the group and limit it to just viewing by those group members. Things like address, phone, spouse name, personal preferences and/or bio.

I had another thought along those lines; mainly, simply moving the two buttons in the dialog box to opposite sides of the screen, so as to make it more difficult to fat-finger the wrong one. At the same time, such things are properly feature requests, and should be vetted in beta; with the additional understanding that few "inappropriate content" reports are likely to be happening, erroneous or otherwise.? All that aside, I was informed yesterday (and I've confirmed this in ShalsTest) that the link in the email sent to group Moderators/Owners when a photo is reported as inappropriate now correctly takes you to the "offending" photo. Re: What's hot? What's not?
Mike,
I'd bet money a number of you have made that journey and I'm hopingDing, ding, ding! A winner. We've gathered some notes about the process here: /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Transfer-from-Yahoo-Groups See also GMF's Hashtags page and click on #testimonials o Does the migration still work - I've seen conflicting reportsThe Easy Groups Transfer mechanism is currently disabled: It is unknown how long this outage will last, or whether it is permanent. You can, if you want, export your Manage Members list from the Yahoo Group (you just squeak by under their 1000 member export limit) and either Invite or Direct Add your list to your new Groups.io group. Direct Add is a Premium feature, but there's an option to pay a one-time fee of $10 to have Premium for a month, it automatically reverts to Basic after 30 days. However, all the other content from the Yahoo Group would have to be manually uploaded to the Groups.io group. See also Personal Groupware, and ask if their PG Offline product is still functional. They also provide an alternative group service, if that has gotten off the ground: * Is there an export option? So, if we're not happy we can take ourYes. On the Settings page of the group there's an Export Group Data button. That opens a page with a list of checkboxes for the items you'd like to export. Basically everything is available. The export is created as a zip archive and you are sent (by email) a link to the zip file when it is ready. Some of the people in our group are more cautious than others, soIf you want to kick the tires as a group owner feel free to create a test group to try things out. That will give you some more questions to ask ... ;-) Or use mine: Shal -- Help: /static/help More Help: /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki Even More Help: Search button at the top of Messages list |

Re: What's hot? What's not?
Hi Mike
I am very happy with Groups.io too. We migrated a couple of groups but this was a couple of years ago. Easy. I wanted to answer about moderation. Nice feature - you can see a message is claimed so you don't deal with it when another moderator already is. It is easy to moderate through email - blank reply, basically. Easy through the website as well. Support is great. Advice ?and support through this forum. Suggestions, etc. through Beta. Or Support email if it is a problem. (Only did that a couple of times over the year.) Lots of subscriptions options for members. On one of my groups, I set the default so that the user gets the first message only in any thread, plus threads they write in. And the user can opt to follow a specific thread. Useful for someone who doesn't want too much email or chitchat. Of course a member can change their subscriptions to one of a couple of digests, all posts, or summary.? I have opted to prevent "no mail" option - I want all members to get the occasional Special Message from me.? I also allow non-members to post, subject to moderation, on my unmoderated groups. That means someone who is marginally attached can send something and I decide whether or not it goes to the members. I find email aliases handy - so I can send from more than one email address. I encourage this because some want to post from their work email, but receive the email to their home address. Yes, there is an export option - in Settings. In a few of my groups, we use the Files. In two others, we use the Wiki. (Good wiki, I think, in GMF.)? Lots of options!? Frances -- /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki /static/help More help: use the search button at the top of the Messages list. |
