This suggests to me that your subscriber simply clicked the wrong button in the dialog box ("report" instead of "cancel"). Assuming the subscriber clicked the wrong button... false reports from this cause probably could be prevented by requiring a reason be given... check for at least 10 characters as a reason and don't accept the report until one is given. That should be enough for someone clicking accidentally to say "Oops" and cancel the report. Just thinking out loud. Jim H |

Re: Deleting old attachments query
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýAndy -- Thanks Bruce.? How are ¡®old attachments¡¯ determined??? Is this purely on date so that the oldest get deleted first or is there some other logic applied so that, for example, attachments on messages in a sticky or locked topic are prevented from being deleted? ? Andy |

My BT appears to be with Yahoo too. I have just sent a message to the group, after marking all the joining emails as "not spam". The message duly arrived in the spam filter of each email account. I had a look for how to disable the spam filter, but unfortunately I do not seem to be alone in being unable to disable it, and in being angry about that and about its ineffectiveness. Unfortunately many of the target group have only BT email addresses. I am amazed that no-one else has had a problem. They must use some technique to identify spam, and I had hoped the groups.io software would have been designed not to fall foul of it. Thanks for your feedback, which is helpful John Clube On 08/01/2019 14:54, Sue via Groups.Io wrote:

Re: Group email messages blocked by BT
Chris BT had changed its layout, hiding the spam inbox. I have many BT email addresses, and for testing purposes I sent invitations to other email addresses belonging to me. I have since located the spam inboxes, and found all the messages in them. I them marked them as not spam, and accepted the subscribe invitations. All subsequent acknowledgements went straight to the spam inboxes. I have been trying to turn off the BT spam filter for years, and still cannot find out how to do it. It would be really great to know, because I will clearly have to tell other people how to do it. I am very happy to turn it off, as I observe it lets through all spam and traps only wanted messages. It would be very helpful to know how you turn off the spam filter. Thank you very much for your help. I am surprised nobody else has experienced this problem. I am now going to see if messages get through. Thanks again John Clube [excessive quote trimmed by Moderator] |

Hopefully any/all information will help pin-point the problem. Sue * Matters are complicated by the fact that BT's mail service is actually provided by different providers; at one point it was all handled by Yahoo but BT set about migrating to (I think) CPCloud. Then, for whatever reason, I think the migration stopped so that some users are on CPCloud (me, for example) while others are still on a service provided by Yahoo. |

As you have discovered, you can only fine-tune Moderator privileges to those features already listed in the Moderator's member record (e.g.: hashtags, integrations, subgroups). At this time there is no way to designate a single Moderator to handle all Calendaring and Database management for your group; even making them a co-Owner doesn't help. Yes, if you have the corresponding features set up that way in the group settings. In essence, if you give Moderators certain permissions for a feature, those permissions apply to all of the Moderators. I hope I'm making sense. This became so frustrating that I turned off BT's spam filter so that nothing gets filtered off at all, although if the system (more of that later *) is unhappy it puts either [Spam] or [Suspect] in the subject line as an advance warning. * Matters are complicated by the fact that BT's mail service is actually provided by different providers; at one point it was all handled by Yahoo but BT set about migrating to (I think) CPCloud. Group email messages blocked by BT
Hello
Although I have very limited IT knowledge, I am trying to set up a mailing group for coordinating sporting activities. I managed to set one up on a WP Mailster plugin, but find that Google will block (most) messages to gmail addresses. I get a Remote server replied: 550 5.7.1 DMARC initiative. n1si38007006wrm.139 - gsmtp error message So I moved to Groups.IO, much nicer as a mail group. This works instantly with gmail, but sadly seems to result in all messages to BT addresses being blocked. There is no error message, the emails just disappear into the ether. In need a system that will succeed in delivering emails to people with a wide variety of email addresses. Is there some sort of special setting that would achieve that? Any ideas? Is this a common experience, or should I be asking my ISP about it? Thanks in advance John Clube |

All Day Calendar Reminders
#calendar

#issue
Hiya.
All Day events (birthdays/anniversaries?) in our extended family group have the same settings: Timezone is (GMT-05:00) America/New York, and we set the reminders to be 5 minutes before the event. The cal-reminder for all day events in our group was sent out at 11:55 pm EST through the end of December, yet the reminder for our first all day event in January was sent out at 2 pm (and we have yet to receive the reminder for today's all day event). As our group spans different time zones, we'd like them sent at 11:55 pm EST, as used to be the case. Thanks for any advice/assistance, Abby |

As you have discovered, the deletion of old attachments does not occur in real time.?I'm not personally aware of how frequently groups.io purges old attachments from groups over quota or how much additional "grace" storage is provided.? Deleting old attachments query
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHi, ? I filled up the 1GB available storage on one of my subgroups by sending email attachments and uploading files (the file upload button is now inactive). I had the group settings at ¡®Bounce¡¯ when out of space and when I sent a new email with an attachment it got bounced as expected.? I then changed the group settings to ¡®delete old attachments¡¯ and sent the email again.? I now have a new photo in the ¡®emailed photos¡¯ album but nothing else appears to have been deleted. ?There¡¯s nothing in the activity log other than the fact that the message was sent via email so how do I see what is supposed to have changed? ? The usage chart for my subgroup shows that it¡¯s using 1.4GB out of a total of 1GB which is interesting and the number of attachments increased by one after I sent the mail again. ? Thanks, Andy ? |

Moderator permissions for specific group features
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHi, ? I¡¯m looking to see if it¡¯s possible to limit moderator privileges to specific group features such as the calendar and database so I can define one Moderator who only has access to update the calendar and another that only has access to update the databases for example? ? As I see it, if I define someone as a moderator of a group (without setting any additional privileges) then as a minimum they would get the ability to manage all features: Calendar, Chat, Database, Files, Photos, Polls and Wiki (assuming they¡¯re made available in the group settings).? Am I correct? ? Thanks, Andy ? ? |

Storage limits query
Hi,
I'm evaluating groups.io on a basic plan at present and have question about storage limits (I've read the Wiki on the GMF about managing attachments etc.). I created a subgroup and started adding files and photos to that until it reached just over 1GB (at which point the upload buttons became greyed out) but this is not reflected in the main group statistics. I can see from my main group Admin > +Upgrade screen that it is using 48MB out of 1GB available and that 48MB was added after the uploads to the subgroup became unavailable. It wouldn't seem to make sense to have plans with certain storage limits if these could by overcome simply by creating another subgroup so it looks like something could be wrong here or am I missing something? It would also be helpful if: - The main group statistics included those of the its subgroups - The amount of storage used by each subgroup was shown Thanks, Andy |
