Re: Question: +owner messages

Okay, I think I finally get it. You (and possibly Ken) use the app/web interface exclusively for groups.io functions and don't check email often (if at all). On that basis I can understand why some indicator that an +owner message has arrived might be useful.
?
I'm not fond of the Pending idea, though. The problem is, how do you clear the "flag?" Are we going to force group admins to log in just to do this? Sending you an email to tell you that you have an email doesn't strike me as productive, either.?
?
Rather than a flag or badge, it might be useful to have an option to set up a Moderator web/app notification for this (/helpcenter/manual/ownersmanual/notifications/notifications_mod_individual_groups.htm), perhaps including a link to the message. Those group admins who do check their email regularly can simply not turn it on.
?
Nonetheless, please note that +owner messages from non-members are not stored on the site. Unless Mark changes that too, you'll still have to launch your email to address those.
Regards,
Bruce
?
P.S. GMF gets a lot of spam sent to +owner. No way would I turn on such a notification...the emails are bad enough.

Check your subscription for the group where you are owner or moderator.
?
Make sure this is ticked for your group.
?
You should be able to create a folder in your email account. That's where the messages are sent.

Duane, This is something I've never understood. Since a backup/archive is in a format that Groups.io created, why does not provide a way to restore from an archive?? (I could see restoring to a read-only subgroup.)? ? Cal From: "Duane via groups.io" <txpigeon@...>

Migrating Old Yahoo Archived Mailing Lists Messages to Groups.IO
Hello
?
I'm new on this mailing list, so if I'm in the wrong place asking this, a pointer to the right place will be appreciated.
?
I'm part of the OS/2 Warp community. Since Yahoo Groups went down, we started to use Groups.IO without any issue.
We had a lot of useful material on the Yahoo Groups discussion that . But this backup is just plain text and it is not simple for people to search on that discussions or even be indexed by Google.
?
My question, is there any way, or experience on migrating this Yahoo Groups backup text backup into Groups.io? The idea will be to create a read only group to show the messages in an organized way and that can be searchable.
?
If Groups.io is not the ideal place to put this backups, is there any other suggestion?
Regards Martin ?

It is likely your email provider that is causing it. Jon On Tue, Mar 11, 2025, 17:25 SooHoo, Spencer L via <spencer.soohoo=[email protected]> wrote:

Is there a solution from the Groups.IO side or is this something I have to take up with my email provider (not likely to get resolved soon if it's on their end). |
