How much help do members need, and what kind?
I don't take the time to help anybody [mod note: an apparent paraphrase from GMF #16964 ( /g/GroupManagersForum/message/16964 ) ] If everyone felt that way this particular group

Re: Notice For a Message Needing Approval (i.e.: New Users Moderated)
Brian, You need to be looking just above the Message History table, on the home page of a group where you are /not/ (yet) a member. If you are a member of the group it says "You are subscribed to this

Re: Notice For a Message Needing Approval (i.e.: New Users Moderated)
Marcio, I think that's a good idea. This topic has drifted a bit today but a criticism I think is valid is that one probably would not want to receive that message again for every moderated post. So

Re: Notice For a Message Needing Approval (i.e.: New Users Moderated)
I disagree with the Wiki part (not so much here, but in general).? There are certain things that are not, shall we say, gracefully implemented, and the Wiki is one of them.? Also, there seems to be

Re: Notice For a Message Needing Approval (i.e.: New Users Moderated)
For my curiosity, I just unsubscribed then resubscribed to GMF. The welcome message is very clearly written and states: *All messages sent to GMF are moderated. * I seem to recall that the Groups.io

Re: Notice For a Message Needing Approval (i.e.: New Users Moderated)
I cannot recall what the welcome message from this group contains, but it's Home Page, under Group Settings, clearly states: Posts to this group require approval from the moderators. That means each

Re: Notice For a Message Needing Approval (i.e.: New Users Moderated)
Indeed you do, but as Leeni pointed out that is *not* the issue here; a member who has submitted a post that is awaiting moderation is not notified of this process, and IMHO should not need to be for

Re: Notice For a Message Needing Approval (i.e.: New Users Moderated)
I agree. This is why i don't really take he time to help anybody. It's called RTFM and I don't mean manual. I will admit I do skim but I tke note of the importent parts such as moderation etc etc etc.

Re: Notice For a Message Needing Approval (i.e.: New Users Moderated)
People who don't bother to read group descriptions, welcome messages, and rules don't deserve much of any consideration, in my opinion. There is no other way to communicate with potential members

Re: Notice For a Message Needing Approval (i.e.: New Users Moderated)
I don't send them anything, I leave it to figure it out. By the way I do receive an email if my message needs approval so I dunno why your members don't. Take care Sarah Alawami, owner of TFFP.

Re: HOW CAN SOMEONE SHARE IN A GROUP IF THEY ARE NOT A MEMBER?
If this was caused by spoofing the group address then there has to be a risk that the material was not just "porn" but that it also contained a software nasty of some sort. I would suggest advising

That's certainly another possibility, in which case the porn would have arrived with an #email hashtag in the subject line. I agree with Shal that the first question to be answered is whether the
