It would seem that at least one member or Board Member could handle the payments and that the nonprofit would reimburse them for the outlay.
The reimbursement could be for each month or annually.
This shouldn't be rocket science.
It sounds like a great deal of worry about an extremely small amount of money.

i just had an issue with another groups.io group where we were having a number of replies to a Message.
i responded to another member’s reply directed at me. Now another member has complained that when I reply I should have quoted the message that I replied to.

my response is that the message was part of a thread and expanding the message shows all the messages. Several other members agreed.?

The issue is that the member that complained only reads the emails that he’s sent. The email do not show the thread. He finds it easier to scan his emails and delete those he’s not interested in. Several others agr ed they do it that way too.
no worries, different people do things differently.

however,in subscriptions it might be useful to be able to allow the system to send not just the latest message, but maybe have an option to sent for example the last 2 or 3 messages, to give context. I couldn’t see how to do it IF it’s an option already

? Hashtags are just as likely to be unreliable as subject lines - simply
because both of them are dependent upon the poster using them.
And, in my experience, people are -very- prone to 'wandering' off
the topic (one post suggests something else to the person doing
the "reply") and they often do not change the subject line/hashtag
when they post something that is unrelated to the current thread.
? Often it is hard to fault any one post.? Someone sees something
and it sparks a marginally related idea - and they post a message
that is 'acceptably within the scope of the post they are replying to" ...
and then someone else increases the drift ... and what was the
intent of the O.P. gets lost altogether.

? I consider this to be a 'natural' phenomenon (i.e. people aren't
likely to change the subject line because that's just a little bit
more work) and also a direct result of people using their
phone/tablet where it is more difficult to change the subject
line.? On my phone, for example, I can't -easily- change the
subject line of an email - in order to do so I have to totally
replace it by first backspacing thru all of the line.

I Message view, what appears at first sight to be a Topics button is actually a pull-down menu. Click on that and select Messages.

I was going to reply suggesting the Direct Add function of the Premium service but then I wondered how you get a list of 3100 people into it. As I am on the Basic Plan, my only experience with Direct Add is with adding members of the main group to a sub-group. It allows 20 at a time but, obviously, has no provision for importing lists. Searching Help gave no guidance nor was there explicit info in the message archive. I did come across a direct question about file format which remains unanswered. Why?

This is a demo google sites wiki I set up for cohousing communities to demonstrate how to keep track of facilities.



It is attractive as well as being easy to use. New pages appear automatically in the sidebar — when you create a new page, you enter the title, choose a template, and have a clear list of levels of pages to choose a level. You can also change the URL to use a name shorter than the name of the page.

The ability to modify colors, choose different themes. A page that lists attachments. The formatting palette shows automatically when you are editing a page or entering content in the first page. If you want to code, you can. You can also edit the html if a page is acting strangely.

I can’t tell you how easy this is for totally inexperienced people to use.

Essential problem is finding it. Google’s menu is getting so huge and is divided into so many levels that people have to have the Url to find it.

So we're trying to migrate from Yahoo Groups and I was wondering if there's a setting where a Replay to a message shows up as a new message (as it does in Yahoo Groups). This would be more beneficial for our group structure instead of the chain/thread of messages with the same title.

Thanks for the clarification. I did find out we don’t even have a debit card so I need to ask the treasurer if that’s a possibility.

Transfer the messages should not be a problem but subgroup members must be also a main group member.

I think that there isn't any option for a member; to get a membership for a subgroup without a main group membership.

While I agree, I'm not sure how that's relevant to your original question about Groups.io's directory listings.

This was in relation to the subject lines — hashtags are standard so they are more likely to catch all the messages on that topic — if people use them. I forget them, but I recognize their value. Subject lines are very undependable.

My real interest, I think, is seeing the number of messages more than number of topics. Not sure why that is relevant in a list 20 years old.

I’ve not heard of an invitation message not being sent.

When you fill out the transfer page, it won’t take unless the transfer agent is a member and a moderator. You click the button and nothing happens.

On the transfer form page there is a drop down menu that shows current transfers. It will list all the transferring groups with status — completed, pending (or some such word), and needs attention. Needs attention is likely to be make transfer agent moderator.

I also changed the banner image to a redirect containing the new URL. It wasn't big and red, but it really seemed to mitigate problems.

After doing that and putting the group(s) on moderation, I had ONE person post to the Y!Gs.

Speaking of which, I shut down our two Y!Gs yesterday. We are "all in" with GIO now.
