Delivery Failure and Undeliverable
Same with my group. It had close to 600 members at transfer time. I sent private emails to all of them. The ones that were bounced I removed. Some adresses didn?t exist any more; others obviously forgot that they joined the group up to 12 years ago. ? This is a good way of getting rid of inactive members. Victoria ? Re: Invitations to join

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýThanks for the replies, but i dont think anybody pointed me in the direction I wanted to go, other than negatively, perhaps!
SO do I take it that there is no way to put a group address on a websigte or elsewhere asking people to join, with a, or the, group address eg Groups.io/M0VOG? ?????
Yahoo group appear in the search machines, but it seems from the replies that "IO" groups dont, so how does anybody find M0VOG???

In fact, I can pretty much confirm at this point that none of them are logged in the member's email deliveries - not the pending subscription notice, nor the confirm notice, nor the welcome message. You have to just assume they were sent.

Re: How do I download an image into an album on my groups.io ?
I thank you for your two replies. I am very tired now (my brain not functioning enough to cope with these?kinds of software talk),?so have saved to a file what you wrote and will check out what you said tomorrow. I?messaged all the people on the list the new photo was there.? I can see now that if I click on the title of the photo album beneath its lead picture, I find myself offered commands which enable me to upload (the word is not used anywhere) a jpg from my desktop. I did think of deleting the new album _after_ I succeeded in putting the picture in the previous "Members" album. I don't understand this quite; "That page of the Wiki was written by someone with an Album named My W&W and should be made generic so everyone will understand.? The Wiki page needs to be cleaned up, but has all the basics ..". Do you mean the page that Duane sent is the "wiki" page?? What is the wiki page? I will come back on this tomorrow if I need help. You can add an email alias - it is in Account under your name, top right corner.
Email Alias
If the email service you use for this account sends your outgoing messages from a different address than your account address, please enter your sending address here. Please note: No group email messages or notifications will be sent to this address; group emails and notices from group owners & moderators are sent only to your account address.

We are Apple Mail users.?
I assume the member is using the from address of user@.... What address is the member using to send from Apple Mail? Has the user registered the second email address with their account. You can add alternative addresses.? Frances |

No notification is sent to the group, so you'd need to do that.? There have been suggestions made on beta for notifications and/or a New Photo album, but those are down the road, if at all. And my 3200+ at the time 20 year old group had some 600 Yahoo bouncers.?
Yahoo has a policy of closing accounts that are not accessed by the "owner" at some unspecified and apparently variable frequency. I call these people Zombies.? They are there but not alive. The fact that they have not been automatically removed by Yahoo from their groups is a testament to the attention that Yahoo pays to the groups. Just possibly they do not have an account at groups.io for their Apple Mail?

Member reports that sending a post via GMAIL works fine but when sending using Apple Mail receives a text box with the subject line error message. Any thoughts on why this would happen?

Re: How do I download an image into an album on my groups.io ?
Sigh. Thank you. I shall put this new URL away in a file. In this particular case I?could make a?new?album. I clicked on New Album, and I put a title in the box: Pictures by members I clicked access for all and the button that said everyone can do it. I don't see this at all: My W&W Updated Month Day, Year I then clicked "add photo" and I did get a window with the rectangle and a command browse and I saw my desktop and I clicked the picture. I then clicked on "add" -- there is upload command. I don't see the word "upload" anywhere. At no point did?I see that word. The picture appeared in the album. Will the software tell all the members the new picture is in the new album? There is no sign of a notification to all members. I went over to messages and saw no such message to everyone. Am I supposed to make a message to tell everyone it's there with the URL (which I copied just below)?that I hope is on top *** But to?tell you the truth I didn't want to make a new album. There was a pre-existing album called Members where I wanted to put it. So HOW do I put a photo into a pre-existing album? That was my question. I hope I don't have to make a new album each time I want to "upload" a new photo. Is there a similar set of instructions for how to put a photo into a pre-existing album? Do I have to inform everyone myself each time I put in a photo? It should not be a problem. Any account marked as "bouncing" in Yahoo won't be copied to groups.io. When the transfer is complete, you will receive a summary message of all accounts that were not copied, for whatever reason.
Be advised that, in addition to those who were bouncing beforehand, about half the people we had set to "no email" and "special notices" began to bounce afterward. These were folks who probably closed an email account and for some reason found doing this to be easier than simply unsubscribing. Frankly, it was pretty obvious that these folks weren't interested in participating anyway; and I wonder now why I even bothered to chase any of them down. Bruce? |

No one can get to the Photos link unless they're a member of your group.
Try reading the information at /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/How-To-Make-a-Photo-Album to see if it helps.? Then if you still have questions, you can come back to ask them. BTW, you want to upload the photo to the group, not download. Duane -- Help: /static/help GMF's Wiki: /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki Search button at the top of Messages list |
