Re: Suspicious "set display name via email" events
Hmmm, there were 11 "bouncing via system" events a little while *after* the "set display name by email" events-- 11 bounces total, but different from the "set display name" addresses.

And several of the "display name" addresses whose email delivery history I checked showed "no recent bounces". Drew On 03/06/18 00:17, J_Catlady wrote:

some trigger to coincident first-time postingAny emails sent by these members, if they are the first emails sent by them, will cause the display name to be set. So if you've had at least that many members post during those 10 minutes, OR send +owner emails, OR respond via email to just about anything coming from your group, it will cause that. It will die down eventually because the display name is only set the first time an email comes in. (Thankfully, Mark changed this from before, when it used to reset each time anybody sent an email.) ? -- J |
Re: Questions on Transfer Form
Because your message does not contain the message you are replying to, I can't be sure, but I think you are replying to the message I sent where I said the reason the drop down list was confusing was because of a bug. If so, this means my message was approved by the moderators and I still am not getting some of my email copies of what I send on a timely basis like I should. I contacted my internet provider about this over 7 days ago and still haven't heard from them.

Drew,
Today, according to the activity log, in the span of 10 minutesThere was another incident like this reported recently. Speculation included continued activity by the transfer agent (which is reported as "via email") or some trigger to coincident first-time posting. Re: trouble with transfer from yahoogroups
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI suspect Mark is trying several different approaches to getting the transfer agent onto different groups. I was assisting transfer three different groups a couple weeks ago. The Yahoo invitations never did go through, but I asked Mark about the old Yahoo request membership link. Mark was able to get transfer onto those groups using that and the group transfers were set in motion that way.
?
I get the impression Mark takes the rescue of Yahoo groups much more seriously than some might expect.

Then, if you were lucky, they would get an email saying that if a fix were to be planned their grandkids would receive a prospective fix review date. -- Bob Bellizzi The Corneal Dystrophy Foundation |

Because no one in this group knew which choice to make, I sent a message to Support. It turned out to be a bug and has been corrected. I looked at the form just now and it has been fixed. Stan On 3/5/2018 2:56 PM, Shal Farley wrote:

My bad, all. I was trying to invite [email protected] to my groups.io group, not my YahooGroup. It always helps to actually READ the instructions, not skim! ? No longer do you initiate transfers by inviting the transfer user to join your group. Instead, you go to?/yahootransfer?and fill out a form, with your Yahoo Group, your Groups.io group and what you'd like to transfer. You can then track the progress of the transfer through the website." He says "no longer do you initiate transfers by inviting the transfer user to join your group" etc., but when you click on the link, it still instructs people to do that. I think this is creating some confusion. Possibly he posted the wrong link here? ? J |
Re: trouble with transfer from yahoogroups
well, don't I feel stupid! I was trying to invite [email protected] to my new groups.io group! Woops! Let's see how it goes when I follow instructions. Thanks for your help. It is now PLUGGED IN. 8^) ? Caroljoy,
Can you elaborate on that? What kind of errors? Just to check the "is it plugged in" box, you are using the Manage Invitations page in your Yahoo Group, right? ?
Does the In Process page for this transfer have any information about your status? You can use that page before Step 4 just to see where Groups.io thinks you are in the process. It won't tell you where you are in line, but I think it shows whether or not the invitation has been received and/or whether the transfer agent has joined your group.
