Re: lost control of group
I found the email and clicked the link to be added back to the group. Nothing happened other than I got an email that said my membership is waiting for approval. Frustrating. I was in the process of adding another individual as a moderator. ? |

Re: Puzzling, two subscribers simultaneously flagged as bouncing
Sure. But seems striking coincidence coincidence for two people removed for bouncing on the same day, a day when there were no messages logged as being sent to the group. One of them said he gets a couple "bouncing" messages a week (!) and just immediately unbounces himself.

Clearly, neither person marked something as spam but their ISPs might have. Even though there weren't any messages that day, and the two on the day before were benign. So it's puzzling. On Sun, Aug 6, 2023 at 04:07 PM, Duane wrote: On Sun, Aug 6, 2023 at 05:58 PM, Gabe Goldberg wrote: |

Puzzling, two subscribers simultaneously flagged as bouncing
August 1:
Phil immediately unbounced his messages; Jim took several days, asked whether Bouncing message was legitimate. They're on very different ISPs More strangeness, Messages for the list shows no activity between July 31 and August 4. The two notes sent July 1 -- one from me -- seem unremarkable, hard to see why they'd trigger an ISP's bouncing them. Mine had link to legitimate website, the other has a small image. -- Gabriel Goldberg, Computers and Publishing, Inc. [Personal information redacted by moderator] |

Since you were removed for marking a message as spam, even though it may have been your email provider that actually did it, then it's up to you to reinstate yourself.? If those were the only 2 owners, then both of them would not have been removed.? Groups.io will never remove the last owner.? Have you logged in with both email addresses? You didn't told us this bit, i.e. that you received an email from groups.io stating you were "removed because of spam".? It is important to provide all info when trying to troubleshoot issues as it will help fix the problem better and faster.? Here's the pertaining info from the manual: /helpcenter/membersmanual/1/working-with-group-messages/responding-to-a-you-have-been-removed This doesn't mean you did it, the ISP's spam filter most likely thought one message from your group was "spammy" and marked it as spam and due to the feedback loop mechanism groups.io was notified and removed you from the group.? Alternatively, you did it but accidentally, many online email clients place the Delete and Spam/Junk button right next to each other so it's easy to click the wrong one by mistake. In either case, find that email and click on the resubscribe link in it and your account should be reinstated, although not sure about this since said you reapplied to the group, I don't think we've run into this before. While at it, look in your spam/junk folder (should do that once a week or so in any case) and if you find any messages from groups.io in there mark them as not spam/junk and if they don't get automatically moved to the inbox, move them there manually.? This should train the spam filter to not route groups.io messages there.? You can also whitelist groups.io, google how to do this for msn.com email. Finally, one trick admins do is create a second admin account to use for fixing things in the case the primary admin account has problems.? When your main admin account is reinstated, create another account somewhere, maybe Gmail so it's separate from MSN, then add it to the group as a second (backup) owner. Cheers, Christos |

Re: reinstating bouncing members
My group has never been more than 250 members in its 20-year history, and generally has never had more than three bouncing members at a time, over time. I've sent bounce probes many times over the years, but not often has that brought bounced member back to the group. Because I know the email link might go into a spam folder and be overlooked, I send a personized email with my none Groups.io address to these members telling them are bouncing, figuring if they don't receive and respond to my personal email, then these members have a problem they are going to have to resolve on their own.

Re: reinstating bouncing members
We are still experiencing this issue as well.? We have repeatedly sent the 157 members (was 200) bounce probes only to find out that the bounce message is going into their junk folder.? As a result we sent out 200 individual messages (11 at a time)? via our gmail account (we couldn't bulk email all 200 due to gmail restrictions).
We don't believe the bounce probes are effective since they are destined for the junk folder and unless the receiver looks there regularly, they never get the message.?? Very frustrating. -- --- CoProS Owner |
