My Gmail account also. Lost messages 35556 to 35558 because at 3:18pm PST message 35556 bounced for the Reason "550 5.1.1 The email account that you tried to reach does not exist."

I don't know if that's a consequence of this morning's general outage at Google, but the bounce was clearly erroneous.

Spectrum limits the number of concurrent connections from a sender, as well
as the total number of connections allowed. Limits vary based on the
reputation of the IP address. Reduce your number of connections and try
again later.

Should this be a bug report, beta list, or what?

Looking at the long on GIO, the mail message hits once or twice a day, but
getting 5 in a day (today) tripped the bounce limit.

Do you have your group set to "Reply to Sender" (see the pull-down menu under Message Policies)? Or perhaps you're selecting the "Private" button when you compose a reply?

Such messages go directly to the person you're replying to. They do not pass through the group and will not appear in the activity log.

Hope this helps,

Yes, the restriction of No Attachments applies to everyone.

Delivery column -- that is, either all with "A"s (preferred) or none with
"A"s.
The A shows up when a member sets a size limit on restrictions.? If you changed the Default Subscription Setting for that, it would show up for new members.

* Finally, if this kind of thing (indicators showing up for members that
joined after a change but not for older members), what is the general way to
handle the question listed above?
Reading the Owners Manual should answer any questions like this.

Re: Help with emails sent not showing up I am the moderator of the group

Sara,

That's exactly why I am asking. They are NOT appearing on the Activity logs. Do you understand why?

Assuming you mean the Activity page for the group, and not any individual member's Activity History, then the only reason I know of is that the message wasn't sent to the group's posting address. If it was, then it should be listed there.

I have checked with some recipients, and they are telling me they get them, so I know they went out. But I can't?find them.?

If they went out via your group then they would be in the group's Messages list.

Is it possible you're confounding two separate groups?

Sara,

Question: When I get ready to send an email, I have two options for the ¡°from¡± email address: My regular email address and my address as the moderator of the group.

I don't know what you mean by this, but you can only post from an address that is subscribed to the group. Unless the group is set to allow non-subscriber posts.

?Do I need to send emails to the group from my ¡°regular¡± Gmail only?

Probably, depending on what you meant by "my address as the moderator of the group", see also Frances' question about it.

Is there anything I need to do to track the emails I sent? The emails I send to the group do not appear on my activity list.
?
Try looking at the group's Activity log. That should tell you what happened to messages: whether they were accepted or rejected, and if rejected why.

Changes made after some members have joined

I did a little googling to find an answer to my question(s), but I have not
(yet) read the various manuals available for groups.io (that is on my todo
list). I'm hoping that my question might be simple enough for someone to give
me an answer fairly easily.

Background: I started (my first) groups.io maillist a few days ago. I opened
it up for people to join, and several did. Over the following day or so, I
explored various options and set some of those, including the one that
prevents attachments to posts.

More people joined after that. Now on the list of members, members that
joined after I made that change have an "A" in the Delivery column which
indicates "Attachment Size Limited". The people that joined before I made
that change do not have that "A".

I want all the members to have the same restriction, both those that joined
before and after I made the change.

My questions:

* Do all the members have that same restriction even though not all show
the "A"?

* If not, how do I make that change effective for members that joined before
I made the change?

* Not as important (I guess), but if all members do have the same
restriction, it would be nice that they all showed the same thing in the
Delivery column -- that is, either all with "A"s (preferred) or none with
"A"s.

* Finally, if this kind of thing (indicators showing up for members that
joined after a change but not for older members), what is the general way to
handle the question listed above?

Thank you!

Me too, as you would then have found yourself (via this email address) as sole Owner of the same group(s).

Anyway, you might want to ask her if she has ever created any groups of her own -- and if so, whether she can still gain access to them.

Never mind. I had to have her change the email address to one of mine and then I deleted it. I'm still scratching my head at this one.

User unable to delete account

I'm going nuts. One of my users created an extra account and I am walking her through deleting it. She is following my instructions to the letter and has shown me screenshots proving it. Yet the account remains. We've now been through this three times.

The problem is that I need to change the email address associated with her first account to the one associated with the second. I can't do that until she deletes the second account.

Thanks for any suggestions.
Pete

Re: subscription setting

Stephanie,

So for #2, if I choose ¡°auto follow replies¡± which states I
automatically follow conversations I started, what is then the
difference if I also select ¡°all messages¡± versus ¡°Following only¡±?
If you select "All Messages" then the "Auto Follow Replies" is moot in terms of what you receive by email (you'll be receiving them all). However, the Followed topics will still appear separately in the Followed Topics list on the web (find these site-wide pages under the Groups.io logo in the upper left corner).
/topics?f=1

3. If my ultimate goal is to receive messages from topics I start AND
receive urgent information from the group. However is there a way to
do that since it says if ¡°special notices¡± is selected ¡°advanced
notices¡± don¡¯t apply?
Stick with Individual Messages -- my understanding is that Special Notices are automatically treated as being followed by everyone. But maybe that needs to be tested if no one can confirm it.

Re: New option to move a Yahoo group to: forums.group

Donald,

You are so right.? In the past month our membership up-ticked with another 12% joining. Looking at the joined emails, most were from legit Yahoo accounts. a few even posted with questions.

PGO was the way to go for our tractor group(s).? We migrated 4 into 1.? And as a favor backed up nearly all the other Ag and Industrial tractor forums too as a help.? Like your Ham Radio with SKYWARN and MARS, some of the Ag tractor forums are critical in other countries to keep machines running and food supplied to America groceries stores and abroad.? Small and medium farmers can't fund websites or work computers in those countries.? But, email helps, they can do.

Any member of the main group is welcome to join the subgroup, and they
