I think you mean Groups.io - totally unrelated to Google.? If you don't disable attachments on the Settings page, they can be included.? See

Er... this is Groups.io, not Google groups. Anyway, Attachments should work, but you will not have a Files section. Where are you looking for a "button"? Chris

Not on a free IO-group. Or at least, it counts to your free storage space, if free groups still have storage space. The group I am moderating has early on made the choice not to allow any attachments
