Re: Photo Move
I must be doing something wrong. I did an export of group data (photos). I got an email with a link to the zip file. I unzipped the file and got files and .json. I created a photo album in the new

Re: rumor control [Groups.io is not Yahoo Groups]
Barry, One of my classmates, in my high-school classmates group, posted a few weeks ago citing the Yahoo Groups shutdown and asking what we should do about our group. He apparently hadn't noticed, or

rumor control [Groups.io is not Yahoo Groups]
I received this inquiry today and thought it should be put on here to be debunked. <Any truth to the rumor that Group.IO is going away at the end of this year ?> Barry Porter [mod note: some members

Michelle; to get the full benefit from Bruce's suggestion I suggest that you set up a Pending Subscription message to which applicants must respond before you admit them to membership; without doing

Re: Turn Off Message Approval
Is it really too much of a burden to moderate the first few posts from a new member? That capability is there for a group's protection from ne'er do wells and mischief - makers. Chris

Re: Turn Off Message Approval
Yes. In the Spam Control block, turn on Restricted Membership, and turn off New Members Moderated. Be sure to save your changes. Having done so, incoming members will go into Pending and need to be

Turn Off Message Approval
Is there a way to turn off all message approval requirements? Once a new member has been approved for the group, we would like them to be able to post directly to the group without a moderator having

Re: Merging hashtags?
"#knife sharpening" is not a valid hashtag. The hashtag would be #knife and the word "sharpening" is just another word in the subject line. For future reference, you can avoid this by creating all

Re: Merging hashtags?
I have the same problem but it is easy to clean up. You need to go to offending messages and fix the hashtags (either by deletion or correcting) and then go to hashtags list and delete the bad ones.

Merging hashtags?
There are some members that seem to consistently create hashtags incorrectly. For example the subject line says "#knife sharpening" instead of "#knifesharpening" (or better #Knife_sharpening). I am

Re: Making invitations double as GDPR notices #invitation #gdpr
These days, test groups must be non-public, but fortunately I still have a grandfathered test group with "Archive is visible to anyone", and so I tested it: yep, I can access the attachments.

Re: Making invitations double as GDPR notices #invitation #gdpr
I don't think so.? I believe you have to be a member to retrieve file attachments.? If your test group has public messages, create one with an attached file.? Then sign out, go to the group, and

Re: Making invitations double as GDPR notices #invitation #gdpr
Yes, but killing off the file storage is a big blow. Database and photo storage isn't that big of a deal (for me). I know Google Groups and FreeLists don't have file storage, but Yahoogroups did, and

Unsure how thread strayed so far from the subject, but Samuel said, Good grief, I've just noticed that just about everything has been removed The last new group I started, I was a bit shocked as well.

You can use the "Export Group Data" button at the top of the Settings page to get them all at once.? They'll be sorted by album and there will be a json file for each with the description and such.?

You are correct, I am closing down one group and creating another. I will try the save and upload and let you know how that worked. Thanks for your help.
