Membership questions

#question
Hello,
By searching and perusing messages here I am pretty sure the answer to my question is no, but here goes, in case I missed something. I? moderate a topical group and normally people write me asking to join, and usually they say w/o prompting why they want to. But some folks find their way to our groups.io page and request membership, and then I have no idea who they are or why they want to join. Is there a way to have groups.io?automatically send them an email with a couple of questions asking about their interest, the way Facebook groups allow, or must I do this manually from my own email account? Thanks. Liz |
Non-member spam-bombing of our group
#spam-bombing
#howto
Hello All,
Is this happening to anyone else right now?: On Nov 16th we started having attempts to post by non-members which were/are spam messages. There have been only three sender addresses involved and two of those are continously and repeatedly bombing our group with two separate messages which are obviously spam. Fortunately these attempts are all bouncing since our group requires approval of messages but the Activites Log is now showing dozens of attempts from these two spammers over the last three days. It's mostly just two spammers and their two (respective) messages, all the same two. There was also a third spammer early on in this sequence with its own specific message but it stopped after half a dozen tries. Anyone have an idea for how to block these spam posts? We are a Premium Group but I find no tool for dealing with this. Is this something to maybe post over on BETA? TIA & Fingers X-ed! Paul M. CostaRicaLiving https: //groups.io/g/CostaRicaLiving == |

Need Group Approval Before Inviting Members
I am setting up a new group and trying to invite members. ?However, I am getting this message: ?"This group has not yet been approved. Once it has been approved, you will be able to post to it."
I have set up a group before, but didn't list it publicly. ?How long will approval take? ?Can I do anything to expedite that process? |
Re: Upgrad then Downgrade
Thank you. What concerns me is that doesn't seem to be the way it works if a premium group downgrades and then upgrades back. ? I like Christos' idea. Will the monthly fee cover the new group creation plus give a "donation"? ? Ken ? From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Duane

How can I lose this $220 fee for this group that I never active in and took it over so it wouldn't die after the owner was nowhere to be found. How I lose this fee, or greatly reduce it? Navigating the "help" guide is a nightmare. |

Re: Upgrad then Downgrade
Ken,
I don't know the answer, but since your intention is to just give a donation to GIO (since you already have the grandfathered features), no need to involve your group whatsoever, do it "anonymously"; all you have to do is sign up for a new group and choose the monthly trial, then delete it soon afterwards before the month is over. Maybe it's unnecessary, but I'd personally do that under a different owner email account though, just to be on the safe side due to main account stored payment methods and such, doing it with a different account would be totally "anonymous" and unrelated. Cheers, Christos |
