Re: Problems with Women Writers through the Ages @ Yahoo
Dear Shal and all, The listserv WomenWritersThroughTheAges is now working again and suddenly a flood of messages -- about 20 if you count the "tests." I am told that other listservs are suddenly

Re: Test Group Question
Paul, No. Any email addresses already in the target group will be skipped during the member transfer. The only downside to this is that their subscription settings won't be copied over, but that's not

Test Group Question
Hi All,I'm thinking about setting up a placeholder with some members from the existing Yahoo Group. If I do this, what happens when I do the total transfer? Will I have to delete the members I used

Re: in Files? #hashtags
Toby, Oh, that's an interesting idea. So far as I know, only message topics implement the hashtag concept. But extending it to Files and perhaps Photos could be quite useful. I think you should

Re: Changing the wording of messages and pages
This is probably it. If it is plain text, you get the full URL as text like this: > Presumably messages that get this are HTML where the URL is hidden:

Re: Setting up a 'placeholder' group . . . .
Paul, There is no time limit that I'm aware of. I held a couple of placeholders for over a year before initiating the transfer. That's not saying that Groups.io won't institute some sort of policy for

Re: Changing the wording of messages and pages
David, Some of the links in the footer have variations that depend on your subscription settings, and on the settings of the group. Also, the footer appears different if the message is plain text

Re: Changing the wording of messages and pages
This^ is what appears in my group and on your message to GMF. But other GMF messages have this at the bottom: How come they are different?

Setting up a 'placeholder' group . . . .
Dear Shal & Gentle GMF Members, This question may have been asked before but I don't recall and if so I cannot locate it anywhere: If I set up a named group in Groups.io as a 'placeholder' in

Re: Changing the wording of messages and pages
The footers that you'll see on messages you receive in email will depend on how you have your subscription set up for that group. Duane

Re: Changing the wording of messages and pages
Messages in this group have different text at the bottom. Either it must be possible to change it, or it must be possible to not display it, and what is being displayed is the footer defined within

Re: Problems with Women Writers through the Ages @ Yahoo
Ellen, Beta is the official "suggestion box" for Groups.io. It is the place to suggest changes, new features or enhancements to the Groups.io service. It has nothing to do with transferring your Yahoo

Re: Changing the wording of messages and pages
Sharon, Huh? This is not automatically true. And would seem a strange thing for a moderator to do. In my PTA Announcement Group I have the Reply To option set to "Moderators" - so any member's reply

Re: Ease of transfer of group from Yahoo? Capacity at IO? #transfer
Michelle, For the record, Groups.io is not here - this is a volunteer-run help group. Groups.io has the official groups update and beta, plus email support at [email protected] They will receive a

Re: Ease of transfer of group from Yahoo? Capacity at IO? #transfer
Michelle - I have moved three of my own groups (one with extensive message archives) and oversaw the moves of a number more. The most difficult thing was to remember to make the 'transfer' email

Re: Changing the wording of messages and pages
Trust me. The switch is effortless. And in some indefinable way the Groups.io list is intuitive and transparent. It¡¯s just less bother and fuss. People have volunteered that it is ¡°smoother¡± and

I've done that and still get people trying to join the old group. Guess they can't read the we've moved message on the Yahoo page. I just send an invitation from the new group and follow that up with
