No.? In an Announcement type group, only moderators can post.? You'll need to remove that if you want members to be able to post/reply.

I think that what you are telling me is that the Home Page settings?with the megaphone followed by, "?Only moderators can post to the group.¡± ?means that only moderators can post Announcements. ?Is that correct?

I want that setting but I certainly want the subscribers to be permitted to post Topics and Messages once?their memberships have been approved.

Re: Transferring Yahoo group after October 28

Larry,

In the last two days, I experienced the same lack of access to my Yahoo group management functions that you describe. I resolved it accidentally by clicking to another Yahoo group I moderate and saw that I had access to management functions on that group. So I clicked back to the first group and my management functions reappeared.

This leads me to suggest that you log out of yahoo, clear your browser cache and log back in. Or try a different browser or from a different device. If you know how to remove just the Yahoo cookies ¡ª which is a different process for each browser ¡ª you could try that as well, then log back in.

Well, this is strange. I still can't gain access to my own group "Management" functions, but I was able to request and receive a download of all my groups, even the ones that I'm just a member of. There is a folder for each group, with sub-folders for files and messages, but not for photos and attachments. Only the downloads for groups with owner privileges included photos. That's not a huge deal since I can manually download the photos without owner privileges, and there aren't that many of them.

At least now I can restore all the members and invite them to join the new group, and I guess I can upload the files and photos.

Better than nothing, but I wasted the fee for the yearly upgrade since I couldn't use it. Had I known at the time, I would have created a master group, and put everything else in subgroups.

Deborah -- For the benefit of others here in GMF, it depends on which Step 3 you are talking about.

-- If we're talking about Step 3 in the QUEUE FOR IMPORT (ref:?), then yes (i.e.: you made this change after the export had already occurred).
-- If we're talking about Step 3 on the Transfer Page at?/yahootransfer, then you are still inviting the transfer agent and nothing has been exported from Yahoo Groups yet.

Generally, folks need to understand that anything done to the Yahoo Group after the data has already been exported will not be reflected in GIO when it is eventually imported. This includes any messages posted and any subscribers who have recently joined the group.

It's for this reason that I've begun to advise group owners to allow people to go ahead and join the GIO group and post there as soon as your group is queued for import (Step 3 in the QUEUE). Otherwise, those subsequent posts will not only NOT be transferred, but on Dec 14 will become totally irretrievable.

Bruce

Re: Transfer steps

My YG was transferred last night. Since my only working computer is at work right now, I haven¡¯t thoroughly checked everything out, but what I¡¯ve seen so far on my phone looks great.?

One thing puzzles me though. I understand that a G.io account holder¡¯s email address is his/her¡¯s user ID. My YG and G.io display names and primary email addresses were the same....I just realized the answer to my question. I was going to ask why, when I changed the primary email address on my YG account before the transfer so that I¡¯d be transferred with my original join date, my YG membership didn¡¯t transfer over. But while I was typing I realized that since my YG was already in step 3 when I changed my YG email address it was too late. G.io had copied (exported?) my YG prior to my email address change. Is that right?

?It's my understanding that when an invite comes in to GIO, it's checked against the list of pending transfers.? If it's not on the list, the invite is ignored/tossed.? Of course, I may be totally wrong!? The Detailed Instruction message is based on multiple reports of what works, so best to follow it.

Re: What is the new wait time for transferring from Yahoo? #transfer

No one will be able to predict. But be patient and your group data would be transferred before Yahoo deletes them. Mine stands around 800 for several days.

Io are much better than Yahoo ever were, I just couldn't find a link to email them about problems or bugs.

Yes I have a mod named Wanda, but she has no idea how she claimed them and we have both tried approving the messages with no success. Thankyou for the support email address . I will report it as a bug. Thanks everyone for your help.

Thanks for the reply, Bruce.

Sorry to have asked again but was unclear whether we could maybe do the invite first, then wait....

So..... One can NO LONGER initiate an invite of [transfer @ groups.io] to his/her YGroup UNTIL AFTER they have UPGRADED their GIO group to Premium in order to have the e-addy ready in their YGroup's membership roster for when they finally do the upgrade to Premium status? True?

Re: Group Settings - Only Moderators Can Post?

But, on the Home Page, where the settings are displayed, the first entry, with a symbol that looks like a megaphone, it says, "Only moderators can post messages." ?I have been unable to change a setting that makes that go away??
To change this, go to Admin, Settings. In Spam Control, make sure that Announcement Group isn't ticked.
Be sure to scroll down to the bottom of the page and update to save.

That is, I assume, a statement rather than a question.

Go to Admin > Settings and scroll down to Spam Control. Verify that Announcement Group is not checked.

Re: Retrieve existing transfer page? #transfer

Shal, could it be this?

Also, that happened to me and it was because the page URL had been changed. The new one is groups.io/yahootransfer. Scroll down to box on right and click your transfer name.

Erika,

My transfer page that was to update with the notification that the
invite had been accepted suddenly disappeared.
This most likely means that you are now logged in using a different email address than the one you used when setting up the transfer.

The transfer control and status mechanism is tied to the account (email address) of the person who initiated it.

Why can't you re-join each of them with the email address you wish to use and then unsubscribe with the other?
I agree that is the best method with the way the system works. There is at least one group where I am a lurking member and don¡¯t want to draw attention to myself. It is easy in the groups I own as I can add myself as many times as I want to with other email addresses and choose which one to use for the mail and set the others to No Email.

I have two groups.io email addresses. I use two different browsers so I don't have to login and out when switching between addresses.
Sara
That is a very good idea and I like it. I have a few browsers on my PC but I rarely use it now. I have only had this Mac for a few weeks and I am still using Safari as my only browser. I will have to add some more.
