Now that I can't explain; perhaps someone else can.

Curiously, though, when I post on beta the composition window I get lacks those as well. (It may also lack others but not having required them I haven't really noticed.)

Re: Moving Yahoo group can't find how to invite [email protected]

Bonnie,

There is an FAQ on moving from Yahoo Groups in our GMF wiki.
Start with that.
There's info about having the Groups.io transfer agent move your group - but with a paid premium group.
Or scroll down and get some suggestions about doing it with a free group.
Also links to the official page on doing a transfer with the transfer agent and a couple of GMF member-created guides with screenshots.

To be clear though, you must be an owner or be a moderator with billing privilege and the power to promote someone in your Yahoo Group in order to use the transfer agent.

You can save your customized notice.

Just scroll down the page and save it. Click on Update Notice.
Be sure to activate it - make the one you want the active notice. Check box above the text box.

I click on the ¡°hamburger¡± and it gives me a second line of tools - but it doesn¡¯t include the font size and selection of fonts.
Is that because my owner email address is through gmail?

Thank you,

By the above do you mean 's composition window? (For messages, wiki pages and the like.)

If so, then have a look at the composition window; do you have one line or two lines of Toolbar available? If just one line then click on the "hamburger" at the right hand end of the line; (Tooltip: Show Advanced Toolbar) This will bring up a second line of tools which include font size and a limited selection of fonts.

Can invitations be sent by a member notice? #invitation

I send personal invitations. ?I know how to customize the default invite, but there is no way to save it. ?So I was wondering if, instead if using that invitation template, can I use a member notice instead. ?Will that work so the invitee is accepted into the group? ?Thanks for your help.

Searching for NC badges / digest clarification

Is there a way to search for all members in NC status at once??
And is there a way to increase the number of members showing at one time (when viewing the member list) from the 20 at a time now, to more, or infinite scroll preferred?
Are attachments included on the digests? Either/or Fully featured and Plain?
Assuming not on daily summary - ?
I have searched but can't seem to find the answers.
Thank you
Sally

Gene -- What is reported on the group home page ("Group Information") is the number of?topics. The number of individual messages within those topics can reasonably be expected to be quite a bit higher.

Look at the message number of the most recent message in the group. If you find that to be more to your liking, you probably just need to wait for the indexing to catch up.

Detailed Instructions on How to Conduct a Yahoo Transfer

Edited

Folks -- Appended below please find detailed instructions on how to conduct a transfer using the Easy Group Transfer method.

See also the new FAQ at?/g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/FAQ-on-Moving-from-YahooGroups
To check status of an ongoing transfer:??/g/GroupManagersForum/message/19948

Please note that the way you select an existing transfer for further processing has changed. It used to be a pull-down menu, it is now a list of links.

I will be re-posting this message periodically for the benefit of all the new people that continue to flood in. My apologies for the inevitable dupes in your email inbox.

Regards,
Bruce

Here is the process. It is not fully automated and will take several days.?Do not do anything out of order.

The following instructions are for a full-width desktop/laptop display. This can all be done on mobile too, but it's a lot easier if you don't.

0.1 Go here:?/
0.2 At the bottom of the page, you'll find a link that says "Easy Group Transfer." Click it.
0.3 Scroll to the bottom of the subsequent page and click on the big blue button labelled "Yahoo Group Instructions."
0.4 You should be at?/yahootransfer. Read the instructions carefully, including all the Notes. Bookmark this page, too. You will come back here several times.

1.1 Create your groups.io group and configure it according to your needs. Help with group settings can be found here:??/g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Quick-Start-for-Group-Formation?(Note: Each new group must be reviewed to confirm that it meets the?Groups.io Terms of Service. This alone could take up to a day.)
1.2 To use the Easy Group Transfer,?you must upgrade the group to the?Premium Yearly?plan.?You can downgrade to the Basic plan later (i.e.: a year from now), if you want.
To do so, select Admin>Upgrade from the left-side menu bar and click on the blue "View/Change Plan" button. Select "Premium Yearly" (one-time cost of?$220) and make your payment.?
(You have now completed Step 1 of the instructions)

2.1 Return to the bookmarked page (/yahootransfer). Click on the big green button at the bottom that says "Set Up New Transfer."
2.2 Enter the name of your Yahoo group and the name of your groups.io group in their respective boxes. The groups.io group is conveniently selected from a pick-list of those groups that you own. Do NOT enter any domain information (i.e.:?leave off[email protected] or @yahoogroups.co.uk),?just the group name.
2.3 Click the big green "Start Group Transfer Process" button at the bottom of the page.?
(You have now completed Step 2 of the instructions)

3.1 Go to your YAHOO GROUP (not your groups.io group) and log in. Send a membership invitation to "[email protected]". If you've never done this before, instructions can be found at??
3.2 Return to the bookmarked page?(/yahootransfer) once again. Select the group you are transferring from the Existing Transfers at bottom right (click on its link). A new page will come up, with?a status box at the top. If all is well, it?should?say: "We've received the invite to your group and will accept it soon. There is no need to send another invite."?If it?doesn't?say that, the invitation did not go through. Go back to Step 3.1 above and try again.?
(You have now completed Step 3 of the instructions)

4.1 BE PATIENT. Accepting the invitation is often?the longest step in the process, and requires human intervention (solving a CAPTCHA).?
4.2 BE EVEN MORE PATIENT.?Do?not?send additional invitations in an attempt to hurry things up.
4.3 You will eventually?receive an email from groups.io stating?that the Yahoo group invitation has been accepted, and providing you with further instructions.?Continue waiting until you receive this email.
(You have now completed Step 4 of the instructions)

5.1 Return to your YAHOO GROUP and log in. Find the "[email protected]" member record (sorting by join date is the easiest way) and promote it to a Moderator. Instructions for this can be found at?.
5.2 Return to the groups.io page that you bookmarked in #0.4 above one more time. Once again, go to the "Existing Transfers" at bottom right and select the group you're ready to transfer. On the resulting page, click the green "Give Go Ahead to Transfer" button.?
(You have now completed Step 5 of the instructions)

6.1 BE PATIENT AGAIN. The ability to actually do the transfer depends on how well Yahoo's servers are operating. We all know what that means, right??(If you want to check status, see?/g/GroupManagersForum/message/19948).
6.2 You may notice some activity in your new groups.io group, which probably reflects partial completion of the process.?Do not panic.?This is what you wanted to happen!
6.3 When the transfer is done, you will receive an email from groups.io summarizing what it was able to transfer. It will also list whatever things it was?NOT?able to transfer.?Until this email is received, you aren't done yet.
6.4 Rejoice.

Most of us have "been there" with this process before and it all sounds easy in hindsight. Ironically, the same thing that's causing most people to abandon Y!G (server downtime) is exactly the same thing most likely to get in the way of completing the transfer process.?The best time to initiate a transfer is when Yahoo is performing well.?If you procrastinate until things are crashing and burning, delays, incomplete transfers, and other such frustrations can be expected.

Hope this helps,
Bruce

Re: Not all messages - but message says "transfer complete"

Duane,

The home page says 1,398 messages and, on the Messages page, upper right, it says 1 - 20 of 1.398.

Back at AdcraftOwnersYahoo, there are 4,712.

Thanks,

You haven't provided quite enough information to draw that conclusion.

Is your group set up to allow non - members to post? If yes then your conclusion might be correct.

If no then it is simply what happens when a non - member tries to post.

The problem: I started with $20 premium monthly and charged $20 on 10/27. I upgraded to Premium yearly today, but today's upgrade to yearly wasn't charged.
Steve -- You first need to complete the upgrade to Premium Yearly, if you have not already done so.?

As you advised, I restarted the transfer process by clicking the Set Up a New Transfer and added the YG name and GIO name from the pull down.
Now I'm disconcerted. Have you set up two separate transfers for the same group? In message #21439, I stated that you seemed to have completed Step 1. I don't recall making any suggestion that you to repeat those steps.

Clicking "Give Go Ahead to Transfer" green button only refreshes the page.
That stands to reason, if your group is not yet on the proper payment plan.

1. YG has a [email protected] member with moderator rights.

2. The pink area on Yahoo Group Transfer Setup says, "We have accepted the invite to your group. If you have not already, make [email protected] a moderator of your group. Once you have done that, tell us when you are ready to transfer your group."

3. I again tried "Set Up A New Transfer" and this time the pink box said, "Set up and start the transfer process below. To transfer a group, your Groups.io group must be upgraded to the Premium Yearly option." The Plans and Pricing page set me on the static pricing page that asks me to start a group.
Okay, I'm going to tell you to do several things and we will both cross our fingers.?

  1. In GIO, go to your group. Select Admin>Billing from the left-side menu bar, click on the blue "View/Change Plan button," and check what payment plan you are on ("Current Plan").
  2. If it is anything but Premium Yearly, select Premium Yearly (click the Upgrade button on that row). Complete your payment ($220).?
  3. Go to your Yahoo Group. Double-check that [email protected]?is present, and is a Moderator (green crown).?
  4. Go to the transfer page at?/yahootransfer
  5. From the Existing Transfers list at bottom right, select the group transfer that you already have underway*
  6. On the resulting page, double-check the status box at top, ensuring that it says what you said it said above ("We have accepted the invite...").
  7. IF EVERYTHING CHECKS OUT SO FAR, click the green "Give Go Ahead to Transfer" button. If something doesn't check out, come back here and report back on your findings.
*Until very recently, this used to be a pull-down menu...but I see that Mark has made some changes here.

If your GIO group is on the Premium Yearly plan, and if?GIO has accepted your invitation, and if you already have the transfer agent as a Moderator of your Yahoo group, and if the status box at the top of the page says what you said it said, the transfer should proceed. The page should refresh and the status will change to reflect this.

But it might not. Frankly, Steve, you've done some things out of order, and haphazard actions have a way of causing gridlock. If it doesn't refresh and tell you things are okay, you'd probably be ahead of the game to just click on the red "delete transfer" button and start over. Also go back to your Yahoo Group and delete the transfer agent, in preparation for sending a new invitation. You will continue to be unable to set up a new transfer for this group until the old one is cleaned up.

At that point you can resume at step 0.4 in the detailed instructions I provided:??/g/GroupManagersForum/message/19673

Good luck,
Bruce

That depends. Uploading copyrighted material is a good way to get your group deleted.

See?/static/tos, specifically the section titled "User Content Transmitted Through Service."

If so is there any limitations, size, kind, etc.
You may encounter timeout errors when attempting to upload large files. And of course, your group is limited in storage capacity depending on your payment plan (see /static/pricing).

Generally speaking, groups.io is designed for collaboration, not for cloud storage.
