Re: Joining the Yahoo group
seidmad, My invitation to "transfer" to join my Yahoo group has now been accepted (YAY!), although Yahoo does not yet show that.? It wouldn't surprise me if Yahoo is slow about updating the Members list, like everything else it seems. Or you my need to refresh the page using Ctrl+F5. Somewhere Yahoo says that to join the group, you have to both (a) accept the invitation and (b) sign in with your Yahoo ID.? Is it safe to assume that, to the extent necessary, not just (a) but also (b) has been accomplished? Yes. Mark knows the process (all too well by now). He has probably been signed in continuously through this high-throughput time. Are you asking about making [email protected]?a member of your Yahoo Group?
If so, see?/g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Transfer-from-Yahoo-Groups Scroll down to step 2 for a screenshot. If you are asking a more general question about transferring, start with the FAQ - it includes the link above, a link to a detailed guide plus a link to the official instructions. HOW DO I DO THIS???
Before we can being the transfer, you must make the [email protected] user a moderator of your group. If you already have done so, please click the 'Give Go Ahead To Transfer' button again, as Yahoo can be flaky. |

Re: Waiting to accept invite
So, here's what you posted:
Transfer fees paid and request made on October 18 and invite was sent from yahoo and [email protected] was made a owner at yahoo.
Invite has been received by GIO on Oct 18
But invite is yet to be accepted.
?
Then today you wrote: ?
Here is the message on GIO We've received the invite to your group and will accept it soon. There is no need to send another invite.
When did you see this message first? What is the status now? Mark (Groups.io) wrote in Beta: "Transfers are queued up when you first set it up and processed in that order until you get to Step 5.?
At that point they are re-ordered based on when the transfer go-ahead is given and uploaded to groups.io in that order (unless you pay $200 for priority service)."

Re: Waiting to accept invite
TIA,
It sounds like you didn't follow the instructions. Since they didn't accept the invitation, there would be no entry to make owner. So I guess you created the entry, and that messes it up. Between the automated and human parts, it must be done exactly as said. Just like you can't send the invite until after you have paid the group fee to enable the transfer and you start the transfer sequence. -Ken Cameron, Member JMRI Dev Team www.jmri.org www.fingerlakeslivesteamers.org www.cnymod.org www.syracusemodelrr.org |

Thanks Lynn,
No the group at [email protected] is up & running, I don't think anything else should be needed
We don't have (or need) a questionnaire for them. Just transfer them across with the same moderation & mailing method as they had on Yahoo Groups
Thanks

I? have just created a group to transfer our Yahoo group over. Do I need to wait for an email to say that the group has been accepted and is ok for others to join?
Is it possible to have a questionnaire sent to members applying to join a group here? If it is, how do I set that up? Thanks for any help you can give me. Lynne |
Re: New group validated and Joining questionnaire
?
Set the questions up in the welcome notice. I believe perspective members can [re]ply to that. There I believe is more info in the wiki in regard to that.
