Yes, it's the indexing that's lagging.? Mark has said that it should catch up "eventually".? The indexing program doesn't have a high priority, so with all exports and imports going on it basically only runs overnight.? He also mentioned that the Search cluster had a problem, so that could be related.? A lot of growth in the last 10 days.

Changed group name after starting Transfer process from Yahoo Groups

Just around midnight the other day, after I'd gotten approval to establish my Premium group -- in anticipation of a transfer from Y! Groups -- I changed the group name.

My excuse?? I was tired and should have paid closer attention.

I've since shared the new Group.io name with our Yahoo Group members.

I e-mailed a request to [email protected] to become a Moderator for our Yahoo Group after making the change.

I think I then checked all the boxes for the Yahoo features and hit the Submit button.

Have I fouled things up irreparably?

(I'd like to keep the new Groups.io group name.)

Re: problems with searching

Hi Nancy

My only transferred group was moved several years ago, and there the search seems to be working. There is a toggle between date order (newest or oldest).

If you have just moved recently, it probably is because of the delay in indexing. I understand they are focussing on the transfers.

I quite agree, and have suggested it in beta. It hasn't been taken up (yet).

It probably needs its own Topic to get noticed. But I agree with Frances
and Mark that it should wait until the furor with Yahoo Groups dies down.

Good, this has been brought up before, but sure, all these enhancement issues can wait right now.

Gene - Any accounts that were already?in bouncing status at Yahoo are not transferred at all. These will be reflected in the transfer completion report sent to you by groups.io.

Subsequently, additional accounts will begin bouncing when the notifications that groups.io attempts to send to individual members come back undeliverable. It is quite normal to lose a substantial fraction of your group that way too; but what some folks fail to recognize that those people were actually lost a long time ago.

?Am I correct to assume that means that their emails were invalid?
Yes, or something along those lines. Check the Email Delivery History (click the corresponding button at the top of each member record) to find out what errors were returned. Any "500-level" error is usually considered "permanent."

If you want to chase down some of these accounts, you can always try to email them outside of groups.io or whatever to see if they're still around. See?/g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Transfer-from-Yahoo-Groups#Y21group-after-the-transfer? My own experience suggests that your time is better spent elsewhere.?

Re: Groups.io to become moderator for yahoogroup

Hi Mark,

Sorry to be like a hammerdrill, but the experience shows that if only one person has a specific problem with a system, mostly the system is doing right...

You are absolut sure that you setup a transfer with the right yahoo group email address? Also you are sure that your premium membership is OK?

Please doublecheck twice.

If you are sure that everything was done the right way you can delete the transfer request and start over.

The first step is to initiate the transger at groups.io. Then the transfer page says to send the invite from yahoo. If you then send the invite to [email protected] from the yahoo group, the text on the transfer page should change to invite received after reloading of the page...

We had some people here at GMF that tried it with the wrong email address...

That's all what I can help you as being a also only a user :-)

All the best,

Isidro

The group owner will need to change settings for the main group and the subgroup.? Under the Files section of the Settings page (way down the page under Features), the group owner will need to enable Files by choosing who can View and Upload files in the Permissions box.? Scroll to the bottom of the page and Update Group.

Hi,

I have done two invitaions in the last view days without any issus.

Are you sure you are doning it right?

-First of all initiate the transfer at groups.io with the old group name and your new group name.

-Go to your group at yahoo.

-Open ->Management ->Invitations

-Send invitation to [email protected].

-Then look at groups.io and press the blue Update Transfer button.

--The text in the red box shoud change to: We've received the invite to your group and will accept it soon. There is no need to send another invite.

OK?

Re: Are the two groups I manage still free?

Thank you Frances, I haven't done anything and was waiting to see if there were going to be notices.

Twice in 2108 our Yahoo files disappeared and I was concerned about our future.? I manually downloaded and saved over 2500 files, it took several weeks but worth the effort.? We now have the files saved on external drives along with upload to the .

Will send the announcement?that we should be good to continue but will also maintain the files elsewhere.

It shouldn't be too confusing.? They'd also get an email from your group (or notice when they apply online) that their membership requires approval if you have one.? You can set one up by creating a Pending Subscription type of Member Notice.

I sent the e-vite mail over a week ago but Groups.io hasn't responded which probably means Yahoogroup did not let the invitation to join go through. The only way we've been able to make this work is by sending an email for the person to subscribe.

Who or where can I get Groups.io to go this route so we can transfer the data?? Thank you in advance!

Re: approving members and subgroup/naming question

Ok mystery cleared up a bit. The email she got had subject: Welcome to Groups.io!
But if you read the message it says:
Thank you for confirming your account. You will now receive messages from the groups you are subscribed to. If any of the groups you subscribed to require approval before joining, you will be notified when that happens.

This is very confusing for members who do require approval. Any way to change or prevent this message from being sent out? Has this issue been addressed here or on Beta?

Messages from new subscribers require approval.

And there is a message to be sent to members upon applying (to ask who they are, etc). Which is "Active".
A member just applied to join using the?+subscribe command
She got the request, replied to it
I got the request as mod
She then got the application form but ALSO got a "Thank you for joining " email. She shows as pending on the member list.?
So:
1) how is it that she is showing as pending AND got the email saying she has joined?
2) how do I prevent people from joining before we can vet them?

ALSO - I created a subgroup then we decided we didn't need it so deleted it today. Will the name of the group go back to "[email protected]" instead of "[email protected]"? Hasn't happened yet, will it reset itself on its own?

Thank you!?
