Re: Cover photo choice?
Thanks for the tip about Google Images, Donald. ? Further about copyright, I instinctively want to believe that anything I can find on the Web that doesn¡¯t have a watermark or a specific claim of copyright is there for the sharing. But I am always willing and happy to give credit for the source of the image. Am I correct in that instinct? That is, if it doesn¡¯t state somewhere that the author is claiming a copyright, can it most likely be used? Is an acceptable strategy to state whatever is known about the origin of the image and invite the photographer/artist to contact us if there is any objection to its use? ? Any illumination you can shed on this topic is appreciated. ? Johanne ? Johanne L. Tournier Lugosiphilia Listowner Email ¨C jltournier60@... ? Susan,
I used Google Images to find one and saved it to my PC, then uploaded it to GIO for the cover photo. If you're concerned about copyright, make sure the image isn't under copyright protection. Donald |

Re: You have 1 transfer in process or completed
Laurence,
following the prescribed instructions, I received the "we receivedI'm not sure what you received, where, or how, but if you mean the status box that reads "We've received the invite..." then you've said things out of order - it can't have been received before you sent it. In the instructions it says to click on this and I will be presentedYou click on the drop-list to open it, then click on the name of the Yahoo Group to access its status page. I have not seen this message in any of the FAQs or theHave a closer look at the sequence of screen shots in this Wiki Page: /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Transfer-from-Yahoo-Groups You'll recognize the Subject text of this message from the screen shots showing the bottom of the transfer instructions page. There's also an example of the drop-list open to show a list of five transfers, some completed, some not. the name of the io group is the same as the yahoo group without theThat doesn't matter in the least to the transfer process. If the name is still appropriate then sticking with something close to the original will probably be more comfortable for your members. You have 1 transfer in process or completed
following the prescribed instructions, I received the "we received your....." and then I invited the "transfer," droid promoted it to moderator, went back to the Easy Yahoo Transfer page and the above message is sitting below the drop down for our group: K9-epiglobal@.... In the instructions it says to click on this and I will be presented with a new page and a green button.....so the question is, am I early in pressing this and just have another cup of coffee or have a made some mistake....I have not seen this message in any of the FAQs or the instructions.....
the name of the io group is the same as the yahoo group without the hypen, i.e. [email protected] It has all been set up with welcome message, a second owner and a couple of members just to test out the approval/request-to-join process. |

Re: Yahoogroups- no management link, no way to access member list
#yahoo
Yahoo has been crashing on me for several days, my groups were formed in 2001.? Finally had to use a large screen laptop running Windows 10 .? Part is a browser issue I have found.? Using the Edge browser in Windows 10.? The sooner I am out of Yahoo, the better.? If it was not for short notice, I would have set up my own forums on my current server.? At least the transfer is in progress.? Ugh.? I have seen files appear and disappear which tells me it is scattered over several servers and several places.? Been using PG Offline program to download backups of files and attachments.? Backup copy of member lists.

Rename then reuse the original name
We want to rename our group freeing up the original name, then can a member create a new group, start it fresh reusing the original name? We will want to keep the renamed group, we already paid for the transfer and waiting for the photos, they are not yet transferred.
Will you transfer from one yahoo group to two different groups if they pay separately? |

Re: reading exported Groups.io group data
For Thunderbird you need this add on to import mbox files:
toggle quoted message
Show quoted text
Then follow the instructions on this page: Rename your messages file to have the .mbox extension, make a note of where it is on your drive, then scroll down on the page above to the section "Import MBOX File in Thunderbird" and follow the instructions. You should then have a new message folder with the same name as your mbox file. Bill On 10/23/2019 11:05 PM, isis feral via Groups.Io wrote:

Yahoogroups- no management link, no way to access member list
#yahoo
(I was unable to tag this post. I select a tag, but the box stays on "add tags.")
I am accessing my yahoo group via my android smartphone. I cannot see any link for management and can find no link to member list in order to make [email protected] a moderator. I can change the description, invite new members, etc, but I am at a loss. I have had this group for 18 years, and have never had this problem before.? I have consulted Yahoo help, both with regard to moderator access and wrt the new groups shutdown situation, but neither of these addressed the problem. Without access to my member list, I can't even invite my members on the groups.io form. Does anybody know whether Yahoo has restricted access? Also, I cannot access the footer of any YahooGroups page because of a nag screen that has no way to dismiss it, reminding about the changes. So I can't click "full desktop site," assuming such a link exists.? Help |

I have invited? transfer@...? twice in the last two days. I want to get ready for the migration. I have not paid for the upgrade yet because I am waiting for group membership to approve paying for the migration. Will transfer@... except my invitation so I can add it as a moderator if I have not paid for the upgrade yet? Thank you.

Re: reading exported Groups.io group data
Ah, there it is! I could open all those easily with Notepad, and the photo with GIMP. Thank you, Duane.
Of course the files are not actually readable in Notepad, with all the various code interspersed (unless you're a coder, I'm sure, but alas, I'm just a baby geek who doesn't know how to do that). I seem to remember that MBOX is a format accessible through one of the mail clients, like Thunderbird. If that's correct, can anyone tell me how I would open such files in a mail client? Years ago I transferred what I believe were MBOX files between two versions of Thunderbird, but it was somewhat complex, and I have no clear memory of how I did that, and don't think it would be relevant to just plain files like this, since it involved transferring between email accounts.. I assume the JSON files would also be readable without the code in some program, but other than a mail client? I've never worked with that format, ever, but I thought someone had mentioned somewhere that there is some kind of a viewer that can display the data without the code. Very nice to have that option in Groups.io. I think all of our lives would be much easier right now if Yahoo had allowed the downloading of group messages all along. Isis |
