Re: Detailed Instructions on How to Conduct a Yahoo Transfer
My only feedback on these excellent suggestions is that Step 12 may no longer be the longest step in the process, at least not until the Great Migration is done.?? :) On Thu, Oct 24, 2019 at 12:12 PM Janis <jhurstartist@...> wrote: Awesome, Bruce! Re: You have 1 transfer in process or completed
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHi Shal,?
Thanks for getting back to me.
On the Easy Yahoo Group Transfer page (with the red notice on the top) I followed instructions under Steps to Transfer Your Group, in order, through step 5 (including the one year payment)
When returning to the page (step 6) and selecting the Yahoo group from the drop down and then clicking on it, nothing happens, but the message under the drop says the transfer is in process.
Do I just start over or am I being impatient? See the image below.

Thanks to both of you for your help. While not exactly the solution I was looking for, it will certainly solve the problem. :-) All the best, Rob "Straight ahead and strive for tone." Re: Can not get transfer request to show up in the "In Process" list
Bruce,
Thanks for the response -?/g/GroupManagersForum/message/20484 I don't think so, if you look the member join time, [email protected] joined shortly after I after attempted to do the transfer, less than a day ago so I can not see how that could be months or years ago. Also as I was going though the steps, yahoo let me invite [email protected] Maybe yahoo groups messed up and updated that joined date and allowed me to send an additional invite even though it was already there but unlikely (yes I know yahoogroups has lots of issues so maybe.) I have read that message 19948 several times. I have clicked on the box to insure there are none there, that has never shown "We've received the invite..." Again, my question is when does groups.io update the box with the "We've received the invite....", after I start it in groups.io or after it is started and a request to join is sent to groups.io (from the yahoo group), or even sometime later, like after groups.io accepts that invite and sends the email? My guess is the latter and it looks like there was a glitch because everything worked up to the point of transfer@groups being a member of our yahoo group. Having this information between steps 3 and 4 of the Easy yahoo group transfer would help people know what has worked or not worked. Maybe say something like, "The status will get updated to "We've received the invite..." after you have sent the invite from your yahoo group, we have received that invite and responded to it and sent you an email. Sorry but there is know what of knowing if any of these items have happened till you see the [email protected] accept the invite.." or the email, if groups glitched and did not send the email or some spam filter grabbed it have a status "email sent) or however it works. Sorry to babble, I can see I am. Thanks in advance for your support! On a related note, even though it looks like I hit a glitch, it VERY refreshing to actually get support, thanks again, so much better than yahoo! Darci Mod's note: Added a link to Bruce's post |
Re: [email protected] isn't a member of my Yahoo group
Waitaminute--you only need the [email protected]?to be a member/moderator of the YAHOO group, right?? My new groups.io group doesn't show the [email protected]?as a member, but the transfer is "in process."? Don't worry.

If so, you can set up a process that requires people to answer questions or whatever you set up. You decide to admit them as members. See?/g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Screening-New-Members-Using-the-Pending-Subscription-NoticeJust an important point - people who are transferred from Yahoo Groups, people you "direct add" (a premium feature), or people you invite using your group invitation process, do not get the Pending Subscription Notice. Re: How to remove the "Apply for membership" button.
I really don't think you can. You could how ever set it up to where you ask the question in the notice. If they respond or if they respond no reject their subscription. Sarah Alawami, owner of TFFP. On 24 Oct 2019, at 8:19, Robert Alexander via Groups.Io wrote:

Re: NEW transfer status information
It has been impressive about how responsive Groups.io has been, but I also feel like we have been stuck in Step 1 for a while also.? We paid for premium on Saturday 10/20, but we haven't made much progress.
Hoping for a better day for the Yahoo servers so we can all get our data out! |
Re: How to remove the "Apply for membership" button.
Rob,
On your group home page, there are two buttons - Apply for Membership and a green Login. You can't delete them. I am assuming your group is a restricted one.? If so, you can set up a process that requires people to answer questions or whatever you set up. You decide to admit them as members. How to remove the "Apply for membership" button.
Robert Alexander
Hi all, Like the subject says... Our group is for a club, and any prospective members must already be a member of that club. In the group description text, it asks a prospective member to send a 'please add me' email to the group owner, including their membership info. Lots of folks don't bother to read, and just click the button. To alleviate this, I'd like the "Join" button gone altogether. I couldn't find anywhere in the setup to accomplish that, so how do I get rid of the "Join" button? Thanks a lot, Rob "Straight ahead and strive for tone." Frank Marocco. |

It sometimes?happens is someone without proper authority attempts to do a transfer only to get stuck when they realize they can't promote the transfer agent to a Moderator. So the agent remains a member of the group and the whole thing ends up in limbo. See?/g/GroupManagersForum/message/19948?for instructions on how to check status. As Duane said, if your transfer status still says something like "be sure to invite [email protected]"?or something to that effect, and you find that?[email protected]?is already subscribed, you will have to delete the existing subscription and send a new invitation. Hope this helps, Bruce |
Re: #transfer
#transfer
From Bruce's detailed instructions:
7.?Return to the bookmarked page (/yahootransfer). Click on the big green button at the bottom that says "Set Up New Transfer." 8. Enter the name of your Yahoo group and the name of your groups.io group in their respective boxes. Do NOT enter any domain information (i.e.: leave off @yahoogroups.com or @yahoogroups.co.uk), just the group names.
Click the big green "Start Group Transfer Process" button at the bottom of the page.?
(You have now completed Step 2 of the instructions)
?
9. Go to your YAHOO GROUP (not your groups.io group) and log in. Send a membership invitation to "[email protected]". If you've never done this before, instructions can be found at

Re: Can not get transfer request to show up in the "In Process" list
Do I just sent the invite (step 10) or do I need to go back to step 7 (Set Up New Transfer) and start there?
On a related note, does the "Existing Transfers" update at step 7 or only between steps 10 and 11 (some unknown time between the yahoo request to join and groups.io getting (and processing) that request). That could be a problem, especially with how buggy yahoo groups has been, how can we know if the request went out or if groups.io got it? I saw the [email protected] show up: To ask this another way, how long (or what steps need to happen) between step 7 and the "Existing Transfers" box to be updated to say ... we have received the invite...?
