Re: GMail issue : Was: subscribers on other lists are being moved to sub-groups under my group.
ken, The previous screen shot message was composed on the website, not on Roundcube, and was a simple copy/paste that displayed fine on the website. The copy/paste must have pasted the URL of the image, which worked for you because you are logged in. I replaced it with an external link to an image on my personal domain, it also displays on the website, hopefully that works. ? Yes, that I can click through to see. My bet is still that what he's seeing is a display name, not an actual email address, even though the text of the name is in the form of an email address. Were he to hover over an instance of your group name Gmail should pop-up a box showing both the display name and the actual From address. Or, he can open one of those messages and on the Gmail web interface there will also be a little down-pointing triangle (Show details) next to the to address. That will open a pop-up display with more information. Or, from the More menu in the preview pane or the opened message he can select "Show Original". That will give him a page with full address details at the top. Shal -- Help: /static/help More Help: /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki Even More Help: Search button at the top of Messages list |

Re: GMail issue : Was: subscribers on other lists are being moved to sub-groups under my group.
ken, Below is a screen shot of the gmail inbox: Access to that image requires login to Roundcube webmail. When inserting images like that look for an option that includes the image file in the email message rather than referring to an external site. Unless the site is both public and trustworthy. Notice how the From column lists my list, Repower and Regear at , for messages from other lists that are not linked.? The actual list names are If the interface has an option to show the full address fields that would be helpful to see. For example, in my Gmail app on Android when you open the message there's a tiny down arrow next to the to address. That will open up a little box to show the full From and To fields, not just the "display name" parts. With my fat fingers I find it a little touchy to hit that down arrow, miss by even a small amount and the message folds up to summary view instead (rude design, IMO). A little more information from the subscriber. Browser is Safari, acess by iPhone 7 with IOS 12.2, and? MacBook and Mac Computer with OSX 10.13.2.; all of them up to date.? Apple Mail is shared by all through the iCloud I am not an Apple enthusiast, my Apple experience is turning off battery draining features on my iPhone and fighting Apple attempts to turn them back on. Re: Diff between [email protected] vs [email protected]
Jeremy, One quirk to beware of is that (unless it's been changed) on deleting the last sub-group, the main (and now only) group [email protected] address is also deleted, leaving only the [email protected] address - which will be a problem for any people using or expecting the MAIN@~ address. I know that problem was discussed in the beta group, and I think Mark resolved it by leaving an alias in place for the subdomain form of the primary group's address. But I'm not 100% sure on that at the moment. Shal -- Help: /static/help More Help: /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki Even More Help: Search button at the top of Messages list |

Re: how to undo accidental merge
Well, I made it! I managed to split the confounded topic.
What was not clear to me is that when you split a topic starting from a certain message, the selected message brings along with it the following messages. I wanted to split a topic made up of 2 messages (including the wrongly merged one) and each time I tried to split it I found myself with a new topic containing the same 2 messages. Now everything's OK. There is still hope for dumb group owners. Thank you, everybody, for your patience and help! Marina |

Re: Yahoo Groups
sharpwitz,
Should I create 8 Groups on Groups.io or should I create one mainThat would depend entirely on the nature of the groups. The key thing about a subgroup in Groups.io is that all of its members must first be members of the primary group. So if your eight groups are different people with different interests then gathering them as subgroups of a primary group would not make much sense. On the other hand, some of your groups might be "natural" subgroups of another. For example, I have a primary group for my kid's PTA unit membership, with subgroups for the board, for teachers, etc. A factor to consider is that there is no mechanism to transfer content from one (sub or primary) group to another. So once you transfer your Yahoo Group content to a (sub or primary) group there it stays. I would rather pay for all the groups under one setting/account.Your account is separate from the groups you create using your account. Each primary group has its own Upgrade page where you would pick which plan you want for that group (and its subgroups). If I created 8 main Groups at Group.io, does that mean I pay $110/yearIf you use the Easy Group Transfer mechanism yes, in the first year. After that you may let any or all of them revert to Basic (free) groups. If the content of one of your Yahoo groups is less important than the membership, you can invite the Yahoo group members to join a Basic group (free), or upgrade to Premium for one month ($10) to use Direct Add to import your list of member addresses. It simply replaced the former triple dot button with something more descriptive and, being blue rather than pale grey, more visible.
It's applicable to Groups.io as a whole.? It was also discussed to the beta group, where a great many "features in flux," or new features get discussed. -- Brian?-?Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 1809, Build 17763?? ? ? ?Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it. ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?~ George Santayana |
Re: what's the purpose of the "show quoted text" button?
Angel,
Click it and see. Hidden beneath that button (until you click it) is any quote of a prior message (or messages) that a member may have left in their reply. The intent is to hide such "clutter" in the display of a topic, yet keep it available in case you want or need to see it.
? It used to display as an ellipsis button (three dots), but a recent change gave it descriptive text instead. There's also been a more recent change to improve its accuracy in detecting quoted text as distinct from sig lines and other original text that may be below the quoted text.
