Re: Invite not working
And, of course, many thanks for any guidance!
One other, probably related, issue with my test group. ?I also had the same aspiring subscriber (the same one for whom the invite failed due to messaging limit) send a request to subscribe using the format <[email protected]>. ?But, after 30 minutes or so, I (as the group owner) didn't receive that request either. ? Maybe this is all related to a setting I've neglected with setup? Thanks again! |

sorting member emails by domain
Holly
I was wondering whether there's a way to sort member emails by their domains. I have some bouncing Yahoo members and still some Charter members. I would like to sort by domains in order to see if any other members have those domains but are not bouncing.
TIA, Holly |

Re: not receiving emails
Mona, I'm still not receiving emails I send. Please help us help you. Please follow Bruce's suggestions and tell us what you see. ? Is there a help desk I can contact or is this just the moderators group mailing list? See /static/help#questions. Questions like yours are best addressed through this group (GMF). There is a support address for bug reports listed and an official suggestion box, but I don't think your situation fits either of those.
As Bruce said, that is something entirely different than simply not receiving your own messages.

Re: creating a desktop shortcut for groups.io

Yes there is Chris. Hope I spelled your name right. I dont know what browser you use. The general idea is this: go to eo or wherever you are going. Now find Send To, possibly on your File Menu. Press enter there and there are choices such as,
toggle quoted message
Show quoted text
email Page by email or, finally the one you want, Shortcut on Desktop. Choose that/ computer may say something about do you want a shortcut for etc, simply click OKAY Done. Now you can find it and create a hotkey if you like. Smiling. HTH. Use this frequently. Bill On 4/4/2019 2:18 AM, Chris Jones via Groups.Io wrote:

Re: Emails from New Members
Rene,
?
?
It would be helpful to know what the text of that error was. That information should have been in the message she received, the How to Fix It box appears to give instructions to read the reported error.
?
I think the most likely errors would be something to the effect of "no such group" meaning that she had typo'd the group posting address, or "not a member" meaning that she attempted to post from an address other than the one listed in your group's Members list.
?
In the case of "not a member" you should also be able to find a corresponding item in your group's Activity log.

? On his next attempt have him CC the message to your personal email address. Then, assuming you receive that, you can examine the To: field to verify that he sent the message to the group's posting address. Oftentimes it is as simple as a typo. ? Assuming the To address of his message was correct, tell us what you find in the group's Activity log. There should be an entry corresponding to that attempt. ? Shal ?

Re: Problems editing Wiki or Messages on Mobil Devices
Ken,
Plent wide before replying, no joy on the toolbar.Do any of the browsers on that device have a zoom control that will let you "back out" (make the text smaller). When I've tried that on the desktop I've found that is is another way to get all of the buttons to appear. But remember you must do it before clicking New Topic or Reply - the content of the button bar seems to be fixed for the effective screen size at that moment. Re: Getting a copy of your shares
Ellen McDonald
In the members settings, preferences, at the bottom of the page is a box to check if you want to receive a copy of your own shares. She has this box checked in all 4 groups, but only gets her own shares from 2 of these groups. No, she is not on Special Notice or anything but & gets all the groups mail, she does not get a copy of her own in 2 of those groups.
Thank You Elen |

On Wed, 03 Apr 2019 15:10:39 -0700, jay@... wrote: I¡¯m in a Groups.io vs. Slack discussion and email overwhelm (when getting emails for each message)This might be overwhelming if you did this for many groups, but what I do is create message filters (rules) and a separate folder (like another inbox) to sort the messages form a group or related groups. For example, I have several ham radio groups filtered into a folder called ham radio. I have a couple of automobile repair groups go into a folder called automobile. In my email reader, and most I've seen, like Thunderbird (free), Postbox (based on Thunderbird but not free), and MS Outlook, new messages in those special folders show a number next to them if there are new messages, indicating how many new messages are there and unread. Whether you want to do this is up to you, but there is information on the web on how to do this, and I think we could possibly help a little here if you need some help doing this. That way, you get your separate messages and not in what I feel is an inconvenient digest format, and also keep them out of your inbox. You're free to ignore your group messages and focus on your inbox, and if you set filters up for multiple categories, you can, say, filter advertisements form companies you deal with into a folder called advertisements if you wish. I do this in Postbox for my Gmail. For email from my ISP email address, I use Forte Agent for my email reader but do much the same thing for the ham radio, automotive, and some other groups. In this email program I have many folders, 13 of which are for various Yahoo and groups.io group messages. It keeps the messages out of my inbox. If I need to catch up on email and don't care about reading messages in a couple large groups, I can right click on the folders and choose mark folder read and skip reading those. The support groups like this one are candidates for that, and I sometimes go back at a later time and scroll down to see the various older topics but I don't feel an obligation to do so. If I See something interesting, I can go back and read the message(s). Making separate group folders in your email client or program is a way of achieving what it seems you're looking to do without having to wait for a groups.io change to do it. You can have that almost immediately. Donald ---------------------------------------------------- Join the Icom group, a general Icom discussion group on Groups.io: /g/ICOM (just launched) |

Re: reached limit of new members
Press the Invite button and then? the Sent Invitations button.? This will give you a list of those individuals that were sent messages. There is a column for date invite was sent and each individuals status (Accepted/Sent). On Wed, Apr 3, 2019 at 2:24 PM Shal Farley <shals2nd@...> wrote:

Re: Using website, vewing UNread messages within an ALREADY read topic?
Jay, My question/point is can that link be generated slightly differently once you visit it and then a new message gets added to the thread. That way it would at least turn blue again next time you visit the topic list to show a new message is in the topic someplace. That seems like it could work. Perhaps as simply as adding the message count as a no-op parameter to the thread link. I don't know how many users might find that disconcerting though, as they may be accustomed to seeing the mark as "I've looked at this thread" without being interested in whether there's new messages in it. The other factor is that I think a page refresh will be required to see the effect of a message being added to the topic by someone else. I don't think Groups.io's pages are dynamic in that way. Could do that even without a specific app. Could do any of this without a app, I think. I'm not sure why the inbox and the app are tied together in Mark's mind. Perhaps that has to do with infrastructure issues that I know nothing about. To bring the idea to Groups.io's attention you are invited to post it in the group. That's the site's official suggestion box - no one from Groups.io monitors GMF. Maybe wait and see if any other GMF members have a thought on the topic first. Re: Using website, vewing UNread messages within an ALREADY read topic?
Thanks for the info. At least I don¡¯t have to keep trying to figure it out.
I wasn¡¯t quite clear on my topic coloring blue vs. black point. I understand General web browser behavior. My question/point is can that link be generated slightly differently once you visit it and then a new message gets added to the thread. That way it would at least turn blue again next time you visit the topic list to show a new message is in the topic someplace. Could do that even without a specific groups.io app. I¡¯m in a Groups.io vs. Slack discussion and email overwhelm (when getting emails for each message) vs. knowing what is new and I need to read (when not getting emails per post) is a key stay with groups.io vs. try Slack point. |
