In order for you to add the person directly, you have to have a paid group, Premium or Enterprise.

If the member won't need to use web access, all they need to do is send an email to the subscribe address for your group which can be found on the home page.? Even signing in isn't difficult: /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Logging-In

Adding a New Member to My Groups.io Group

Kenneth Semien, Sr.

Hello All:

Commonly, subscribers are tech savvy, however at times you meet an individual who has not caught on to computer use. Please assist me in adding a member to my group that has difficulty subscribing to a group after a number of attempts, although it isn't that difficult. She has authorized me to simply add her to the group.

Kind Regards, Kenneth Semien, Sr.

No, it?has to be kept premium for the year.
?
You can get away from paying by setting up a group and inviting members to join it or take 1 month premium membership so you can direct add your members.
?
I don't know how you would get your messages or files sent over though.

No.? Because of the difficulties encountered and manual intervention needed for transfers, you're now required to pay for a full year of Premium.? If you don't want to pay anything, just start a new group and don't transfer.? It would be up to you to copy over anything you'd like to keep.

Re: Email delivery label #subscription #suggestion

Frances,

Perhaps All Messages as Individual Emails?

At one time it was simply "All Messages". The problem with that is that the member might not be receiving all messages, if he/she has selected Following Only in the Advanced Preferences.

I suppose you could propose to have the choice there conditional on the member's Message Selection choice. So perhaps "All Messages individually" if they've selected All Messages, and "Followed messages individually" if they've selected Following Only.

Note that the Message Selection options apply to Digests (and I think to Daily Summary) as well as Individual messages.

Email delivery label #subscription #suggestion

A new user finds that the first option for Email Delivery was confusing.
It says "Individual Messages".
Below that is an explanation -?You will receive each message in an individual email.

The other options all describe digests, daily summary, special notice, no mail (depending on group setup).

Could a better label be found for Individual Messages?
Perhaps All Messages as Individual Emails?
Or All Messages Individually?

Not sure! Suggestions?

Re: AOL

Anita,

I have a member with aol and her messages that she sends keep coming back that they can't be delivered.

As Chris suggested have a look at your group's Activity log to see if you can match any of her attempts to entries about "attempted to send". But you'll only see that if she's sending to the correct address for group posting.

To verify that she's got the group posting address right have her CC you at your email address the next time she attempts to post to the group. Assuming you receive her message you'll be able to double-check the To address she used for the group.

Re: AOL

Anita?

no problem w/ aol ?(so far).?
The error message sounds like the post is being sent to a non existent email address.?
Can you get get to copy/paste the entire message (Private info/email redacted if necessary)?

I'm not sure what you're asking.? Bruce explained that the fee is for transfers only.

Can you confirm that you are referring to messages sent by your member to your Group on Groups.io?

I suggest that you check your activity log to see what is recorded there. Is there a record of an attempted post by a non - member, and if so what address is it coming from? Does it match the address you have on record for that subscriber's account?

In other words is she sending messages from a "wrong" email address?

Re: AOL

I use AOL and have had no issues receiving or sending messages with both of my large groups.? Nor anyone else on my groups with AOL having issues.? AOL does have some pretty agressive spam filters, so you might want to warn your AOL member to make sure she checks her Spam/Junk folder for any groups.io messages and marks them as "Not Spam" before she just arbitrarily empties that folder.? And, she can always add your group's email address into her Contacts as well.? Those both should help her to receive your group messages.

Re: Question

Hi Gerry,

if you look at Settings > Integrations? you can set up a Facebook integration.? Any post to your public Facebook page will then be posted to your group.? The integration only looks at public pages so it cannot 'see' any posts to pages/groups that need a Facebook login.

Regards,
Andy

Question

Hi folks....Maybe it has been asked and answered ---> but is there a way of linking our io page with our facebook page? Crosslink...?

Appreciate all the support.

Re: Bounce probe question . . . #bouncedemails

Marv,

?
It might be helpful to put the bouncing email address into the body of the bounce message.
?
I think that's a good suggestion, for the same reason the recipient address was put into the footers of group posts: members sometimes have their email forwarded between interfaces, or retrieve several addresses through a common application Inbox, and might not be immediately aware of which address the message refers to.

Re: Bounce probe question . . . #bouncedemails

It might be helpful to put the bouncing email address into the body of the bounce message. I suggest this because I have found that members sometimes do not realize or have forgotten that they hold more than one membership in a group, each with different email addresses. They think nothing is wrong because they are getting posts regularly and pay no attention to the bouncing membership. I suspect this is especially true of Yahoo addresses, which are legacy from Yahoo groups. I think? they have trouble with Y! and instead of changing addresses, the folks subscribed again with a different address and ignore Y! Putting the address in the bounce message would help sort this out. Of course, if they are completely ignoring the defunct address, they won't get the message anyway, so maybe it is pointless.
Best, Marv
