Failing that, this could represent over-aggressive email filtering on the part of comcast. Spammers will often insert your own email address as the From address of a message to send you spam (this is known as spoofing:? ). Because of this, some email services now check the From address of any message and if it's the same as the receiving address but did not originate from one of their mail servers, filter it out. I don't know enough about comcast to advise on whether they provide any settings to fine-tune this behavior.?Some folks have found it necessary to turn off spam filtering entirely so as to reliably receive group messages.?You can also check your spam folder, but in my experience such messages are usually sent to the bit-bucket.? ? There is a setting that prevents members from posting, but allows moderators to post (i.e. an Announcement Group) but if you can't post as a moderator that doesn't look like the reason for things going wrong; in any case I see from your publicly viewable messages that you have numerous "posters" so you don't look like an annoucement group anyway. If you cannot find anything then an email to [email protected] looks like the best bet. Chris |

I just feel like it has to be Comcast, and wondering if anyone else is having this problem. Thank you so much Hugs Laine |

Re: Bouncing emails.
Bill,
?
?
That happens to be irrelevant to the bouncing question.
?
?
Ok. So did you have a look? Cox says:
"The sending IP address has been temporarily blocked by Cox due
?to exhibiting spam-like behavior. ?The block duration varies depending on reputation and other factors, ?but will not exceed 24 hours. Inspect email traffic for potential spam, ?and retry email delivery." Of note is the code CDRBL - "RBL" often stands for "Real-time Blackhole List". The IP address cited (66.175.222.12) is Groups.io's outbound email server. So Cox relied on an RBL which apparently listed Groups.io as a source of spam. Some email services rely on low-quality RBL services whose data may be out of date or simply wrong. ?
To resolve this your members will have to ask Cox to whitelist Groups.io as a valid email list sender. If Cox won't do that, then the members will have to put up with losing the occasional message, or switch to a more savvy email service.

Re: Bouncing emails.
Bill,
That depends. Are they attempting to post to your group by email, and getting a message back from Groups.io with that code? If so have a look in your group's Activity Log to see why their postings (or replies) were rejected. Or are they listed in you're group's Members list with a blue (or red) "B" for bouncing (or bounced)? If so look in the Email Delivery History tab of their membership page to see why their email service rejected a message from Groups.io. Tell us the text of the Reason that goes with the error code. Re: Group settings
#settings
musiclady,
I think there are two possibilities. One is that she wants the group's Reply To changed to Sender - that is found in the Message Policies section of your group's Settings page, and would affect everyone's conversations. Every reply would go to the sender, and not to the group. That would not be appropriate for a discussion style group, but might be appropriate to other types. The other possibility is that what she's looking for is in her Subscription page, under Advanced Preferences. There she can choose to receive Following Only, First Message Also, and Auto Follow Replies. Choosing those settings would mean that she would receive the first message in each new topic but not any of the replies, unless she started the topic or replied to it. Or elected to follow the topic by way of a link in the message footer. Shal -- Help: /static/help More Help: /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki Even More Help: Search button at the top of Messages list |

I am assuming from this new inquiry that you're now logged into the group with the proper email address (i.e.: the Owner badge is now showing up) and have restored your own access to administrative functions. Your subscriber can easily turn off group email delivery without any help from you. One way is to send an empty email to [email protected]?where GROUPNAME is the name of your group. See the system help at?/static/help#emailcommands?for other email commands. If she is logged in, she can also click on Subscription on the left-side menu bar, and change her Email Delivery setting on the resulting page.? Failing that, you can turn off email delivery for her. Go to Admin>Members and click anywhere on her member record to open it. Scroll down to Email Delivery, check the corresponding radio button, then click the blue Save button at the bottom of the page. After doing so, she will no longer receive group emails, but can still read group messages at her leisure by logging in and reading the message archive online. I do not recommend changing the mail delivery requirements for the entire group based on a request from a single subscriber.? So you would seriously consider changing a "major" setting like that on the basis of a single comment? I know I wouldn't. If your "complainant" is overloaded with emails that is a problem for him or her to resolve, not expect other group owners to change settings just to suit (on the face of it) one person. The simple way to manage email deliveries is to work from the web UI and turn "Individual Emails" off from selected groups.? Chris |
