Subgroup question about owners and moderators
I am the owner of a group with subgroups, and we have a moderator set up in the main group who can create subgroups.? She just created her first subgroup, and as an owner I thought I should be able to see it. I can direct add a new member and can add her to that subgroup, but it isn't in my list in Your Groups nor in the Subgroups list in main over on the left hand side. I can see it in main/admin/subgroups. Of course I can't verify the settings since I can't get in there, but here is what she was supposed to change:
? ? ? ? ?At Group Title copy the name from the email address directly below
?
At Subgroup Category choose Education
At Member Directory choose Subscribers
At Members Visible choose Owners and Moderators with the correct permissions
At Hide Email Addresses in Archives choose Mask all email addresses in the archives
At Spam Control check Restricted Membership
At Message Policies check Disable No Email
At Reply To choose Group
? ? ? ? At Message Formatting/Allow Attachments choose Bounce
What do we need to modify so that the owners/moderators can see the subgroups? Thanks Beth |

Re: Delete Messages
I have been using the "-test" parameter in the URL line successfully for some time now. I'd like to see it become a permanent feature.
However, while this works great to delete Topics in bulk, it does Not allow bulk delete of individual messages which I'd prefer. Sometimes I wish to delete only a select number of messages within a topic en masse. Mike B |

But why is this normal on the iPhoneAh... I'm not saying it's "normal", not least because I am not an iPhone (or any other type of smartfone) owner. To get to the bottom of this I think you have to find out exactly what your associate sees at every step of the process, and what they are doing.at every step.? Let's look at a few possibilities:
I think you will have to pin the other person down for more detail about exactly what is seen and done; without that you and the rest of us are just guessing really, and (hopefully!) intelliigent guesswork has its limits. Chris |

That affects the amount of storage you have available. Have a look at both your files and photos sections, if you look in the right places you will find figures for how much space is currently being used. Re: Concerned about FALSE Pending member/Spammer?
A big thank you to all who shared their thoughts.
I do have new? subscribers on moderation for their first 4 posts.? And yes, that helps. But in this case, I didn't let it get that far.? She posted once.? I was far more concerned about a new subscriber having access to our databases of information..? But in the end, going with my personal gut reaction was the best course.? Deletion.? And then when I saw her email address return, I hit BAN. Again, thank you. Febe :) Group Mom [email protected] |

If the former then I have no idea what is happening; if the latter then this sounds "normal". Chris |

Digest doesn't open in Samsung client, but opens in GMAIL app; Android 8.1, Samsung J7Pro
#email
Hi folks,
I receive the full featured digest for two groups that I don't own. When the digests arrive in my inbox, all looks normal until I go to open them. The header with the digest looks normal but the message box stays blank. This is Samsung's standard email app. I'm using Android 8.1 now. When I open the same digest with the GMAIL app, no problem. So I have a workaround, but it's a tad inconvenient. Has anyone else experienced this and is there a fix? Bart |

Re: Yahoo address members having trouble?
Rachel, I just heard from one of the two members affected and she checked spam and has not been getting any messages even though she shows as a current member of the group. Other things that could affect whether she receives messages are her subscription options and her bounce status. Though I don't know of any reason to suspect that those would have changed. I¡¯ve just removed her and sent a new invite and also sent her a link to join as a new member. I hope that this will resolve the issue. Not likely. Unless the issue is that she had/has subscriptions under more than one address and this causes her to check for messages at the other one or otherwise straighten out that confusion. If you haven't already seen it, GMF's wiki page on being removed for marking messages as spam might provide some clue. Re: Passwords
Howard, Does each classmate need a password or can they get by without one? They can subscribe by email, or accept your invitation by email, and they can post and read messages by email; all without ever visiting the site. There are some handy email addresses listed on the home page of your group that help with this. There are also email commands that allow them to control their subscription options by email. In my classmate group I'd guess that most have never visited the web site, even though some of us have shared reunion photos there. Or, as Duane pointed out, they can use the web interface without a password by using the log in by email facility. But if they prefer they can set up a password for their account. That's very easy at Groups.io. It gives them a little more flexibility to change their email address in the future if the one they were using gets cancelled or becomes unusable without enough notice to log in by email one last time to change it. This doesn't make sense to me. If your members (I prefer the word SUBSCRIBER
to make it clearer that they're a MEMBER of your group vs just a MEMBER of
Groups.io) ) can't read the message archives, then they can only participate
via email.

For sure! Can't read the archives AND can't get email? No point in anyone
joining such a group.
?
>But being that the archives cannot be shut down, that won't work in this case.
?
?
The archives CAN be "shut down." Just change the group settings so only
SUBSCRIBERS (members of the group) can read the message archives.

Re: Yahoo address members having trouble?
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýSince converting our 1,340 member group from Yahoo in August, we've had 45 incidents of members being removed for spam.? Of those, 41 had Yahoo addresses despite Yahoo addresses constituting only about 50% of our membership. (Some of these have been removed multiple times, so the ratio comparison isn't precise.) Yesterday I was able to pin down one of them who accidentally marked a message as spam, and was immediately removed.? Another said she deleted the contents of her junk mail folder withing checking if any group messages were there, since she was getting them normally in her inbox.? She was getting a digest, so why a spam filter would trip on one digest and not another is a mystery. We're going to start interrogating members about their recent
actions when we get a spam removal notice from Groups.io to see if
there's a correlation between the removal message timestamp and
something they did. But to your question, yes, I subjectively feel that yahoo
addresses are our main problem.? And a cause of a lot of
frustration. Mark On 11/29/2018 1:16 PM, rachelfran via

They could use the "Email me a link" option each time they want to use the site. Along those lines, there was a recent change made to the site.? When you log in, a cookie is created that expires in 30 days to effectively log you out, as well as a second one showing that you've logged in before.? As long as those cookies exist, the 'logged in' cookie will be updated each time you visit the site.? If you never wait more than 30 days, you'll stay logged in forever!? The main thing to remember is that since these are cookies, there will be separate ones for each device used.
