Subject: [GMF] question about bouncing members. ?
Hey all,
?
I was wondering is there a way to manually unbounce someone?? I see
the only way is to go and have the automated message sent out, but I was
wondering if there is another way to do this?
One of my members is having trouble, and I found out she was
bouncing.
Thanks for any help,
?

Re: New Group Not Being Created From Yahoo Groups
开云体育Cathy,1) the invitation to [email protected]?never appears on the YahooGroups activity log - when i invite them, it says sent but then never appears as a member That's odd. It should appear in the Membership tab of the Y!group's Activity log as: Invited to join by [moderator] via web.
The transfer agent won't show up in the Y!group's Manage Members page until after it accepts the invitation, which won't happen without the transfer making it to "In Process" status (below). And obviously won't happen if Y!Groups didn't actually send the invitation. 2) the yahoogroup never appears in the Progress drop down list (it does show several other groups that I have transferred without this issue) Did you get any kind of error indication after clicking the green Start Group Transfer Process button? A red banner at the top of the page perhaps? Otherwise, the Y!group's name should be added to the In Process list. Maybe there's a delay in it showing up, or perhaps you need to refresh the instruction page (F5 or Ctrl+F5) to get an up-to-date list. Re: Invitation questions
Shal,Outlook.com did make <groupname>@groups.io into a clickable link forNope, that would be impossible. I just re-verified that Invitations do behave as I have described, with both the Invitation for one of my groups I already accepted, and for another of my groups that I have not yet accepted. I'll forward the invitations to you privately. Whether I view the invitation as Web-based email at outlook.com or in Apple’s Mail application on my laptop: If I click on [email protected] in | You have been invited by <me> to join the Groups.io group [email protected] the /g/groupname webpage opens up (and if I’m already signed into Groups.io it will be logged in to that signed in email address, even it is for my Owner account). Additionally the same thing happens when I click on [email protected] in the Subject Line in Apple’s Mail application on my laptop | Invitation to join the [email protected] email group Thanks, Michael |
Re: Facebook group "integration" idea
Thank you for your thoughts, Shal!
The official way to have an external service post to your Groups.io group is via an Email Integration. You'd add the integration address to the FB group rather than the Groups.io posting address.OK, but what is an email integration? I couldn't find any help about it in either the help section or the GMF wiki, either. I don't know much about FB groups, but either one could be tricky. Wouldn't that require a FB account which has that as its email address?Hmm. I think one could create an administrative email like "GROUPNAME-admin@..." and a FB account for that role, maybe? The second issue is whether the FB group messages always arrive From the same address, or whether it varies reflecting the member who posted the message or other factors.Good question. They used to all come from notification+zrdoie==href@..., but I'll have to look into whether they still do. Su |

See below... 2) the yahoogroup never appears in the Progress drop down list (it does show several other groups that I have transferred without this issue)Once again, this suggests that either the transfer was never set up at all, or (more likely) the email address you are logged on under is not an Owner of the group that you're trying to transfer.? Go to the group's home page (/g/GROUPNAME) and look at the Home button at upper left. Is there a blue Owner badge adjacent to it? If not, you will remain unable to make further progress until that is remedied. If you have more than one email address, try logging on using the other one. Regards,? Re: Have we been hacked?
Janice,
Payment receipt is attached to this letter. If that message was posted to the members, and it actually had an attachment, post to the group advising them to delete it without opening the attachment - it is likely to be malware. If that attachment is stored in your group delete it. I am assuming somehow her Groups.io membership was hacked. Not necessarily. As Bruce mentioned it is far more likely that the crook merely used her email address by spoofing. The next more likely case is that the crook gained access to her email account and used it to send the message. Such a message would only be evidence of her Groups.io account being compromised ("hacked") if it was posted from the Group's web pages. You can determine that from your group's Activity log: look for entries of the form: [member] sent message "[subject]" ... via web. If instead it says the message was sent "via email" then it was either a spoof or sent from her email account. Re: Facebook group "integration" idea
Su,
I'm not sure if this is the right forum for this question. As good a place as any, better than most. The second issue is whether the FB group messages always arrive From the same address, or whether it varies reflecting the member who posted the message or other factors. and then the mailing list can be configured to receive those postWith an Email Integration you don't need this step. Otherwise, if you succeed in getting the Groups.io address added to the FB group, you can use the Activity log in the Groups.io group to verify the correct "From" address for the facebook group - you'll see it as a non-subscriber attempt. Or you can (temporarily) allow non-subscribers to post to your group and learn the address in the Pending list. If you have a Premium group you can Direct Add whatever From address Facebook uses. With a free group you would likely be limited to using an Email Integration or permanently allowing non-subscribers to post. Re: My group, Lonestarhearts - why am I, the owner, moderated?
Diana,
11 Email addresses? On io? NO way.I didn't mean that they were all used with Groups.io, only that you have that many. Used to have cricket654me@... as well in io but it says I don’t haveI don't understand what you mean. What "it"? And what does it say that you don't have? If you've lost control of that email address and it was the one which owned the group that could explain the problem. If this is the issue then your focus should be on regaining control of that email address. I have tried every single one of my 11 email addresses and only theDo you mean that all of the others gave you an error response when you sent to your group? Were you able to try that test with cricket654me? Last ditch attempt: from that address, try posting a message to [email protected] and see if that is received at any of your other addresses. If there are other owners of the group include a description of your dilemma and a plea that they promote you back to owner. NONE of the others have any connection to io.The one place left to look for clues is the group's Activity log. Which unfortunately you can no longer access. Your next step would be to ask [email protected] for help. It isn't supposed to be possible for a sole owner to be demoted from that role, but if there's another owner support may suggest that you contact them for help (as above). Facebook group "integration" idea
I'm not sure if this is the right forum for this question. If not, please advise.
I've read up on old threads on the topic of Facebook integration, and realized I had misunderstood what it actually does. I had initially thought that FB group posts could be automatically forwarded to a Groups.io list, but it turns out to only work with FB "pages" -- and only public ones. Today I thought of a possible workaround. FB has the ability to send email notifications on posts to a page or group. So my idea is to add a [email protected] email as a member to a FB group, and then the mailing list can be configured to receive those post notifications by adding Facebookmail email address to the subscriber list and optionally moderating it. It seems sort of obvious, but I haven't seen it suggested before. Is there a problem with this idea that I'm not thinking of? Thanks, Su |

My guess is that the something that happened is that you started sending from that address, which is still New User moderated, instead of the address you had been using. You could try the simpler experiment of sending a message to the group from each of your email addresses. Those addresses which aren't members will get an error back saying that they aren't members. But I'm betting at least one of your other addresses will be able to post to your group, and that one is likely the one you were using before.
You can approve your posts by email, but only if you are receiving the pending message notifications by email (Subject: Message Approval Needed ...). You won't be receiving those notices at this email address, as we've seen that it is not a moderator or owner of the group. But those notices might be coming in to one of your other addresses (the one which is).
