Re: New group Manager With Question.
Judy,?
- In your email, just click to reply to the email (the notice, not the member) and it will be automatically approved. No message is required, just an empty reply email.?
You will be replying to the automatically address for that message ( groupname+approve+message number@groupname
?
(You must be using your email address associated with the account (i.e. your account ID).?
I have added this to the Wiki -?/g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Approving---moderating-a-message Edits welcome!

If you have followed the link but aren't seeing an opportunity to approve the messages, it's probably because you haven't logged in. Login instructions can be found at?/static/help#password?. As long as you don't delete your browser cookies, the login will persist for 30 days. Once you finish that, you should see a status badge at upper left (look for the Home button), confirming that you are logged in with a Moderator or Owner account. At that point you can go to Admin>Pending and perform your moderation duties online. Hope this helps, Bruce -- The system Help is your friend.??/static/help |
Re: New group Manager With Question.
Hi, Welcome to Groups.IO. Which method are you using to access and manage the group ¨C web or email? I find that it is more efficient to approve posts via email by simply replying to the post that needs approval. Cheers, Joseph ? [excessive quote trimmed by moderator] |
Re: New group Manager With Question.
There are a few ways to approve them.? Easiest is to just reply to the notice and it will be automatically approved (if I remember right.)? If you do it online, go to /g/GroupName/pending (or Admin > Pending.)? From there, there are two options.? 1) Select the posts using the check boxes to the left of them and click the Approve (or another) button. 2) Click on the first one to open it, then use the buttons at the bottom to Approve, Reject, Delete, etc.? Once you take care of the first, the next one will automatically open.

New group Manager With Question.
Judy Jones
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI already have 7 subscribers to my new group overnight, and their first post requires moderator approval, but I can¡¯t find how to do that. ? I have followed the link in the Needs Approval link in a post, but can¡¯t figure out what to do. ? I also went into my group¡¯s Needs Approval link, but again, it is not apparent what to do next.? There is no Approve button in the list of suggested actions, or any clue I can find how to do this. ? Thanks in advance for your help. ? Judy ? |

I have read that the Yahoo transfer process will transfer all topics, users, etc - but the Google transfer will only transfer members but not topics.??See this message from back in July. I read somewhere that you can request support to upload emails - if true, I assume that is for paid accounts, but is there anything we can do to not lose all our content?Rumor has it that if you can get your message archive in Unix mbox format then support will be able to upload it. However, this same thing has been told to quite a few people (most of them MailMan users) and to date nobody has returned here to report that they ever got it done. ? Re: Problem with uploading Files
Thank you, Chris. ?Sorry I didn¡¯t continue on with the thread. I was just trying to shorten the emails. I was able to work through the problem with Bruce¡¯s help, which was very much appreciated. ?Turns out it was a storage problem because of very large photo files pulled over from Yahoo, and I learned a lot in fixing the situation. Very grateful for all you do. Anita?

Re: TWO QUESTIONS
#howto
Yes, I believe that a member would get private email regardless of their email settings.
?
The help page says:
No Email?(not available in all groups) sends no posted messages to you by email. You may still receive individual notifications from the group and/or from?.

INDIVIDUAL RESPONSE BACK
Ellen Bourne
Today, my group is finally getting on board with Groups.io distribution list.? There was an email today to the subgroup called members.? ?When I tried along with two others to respond to sender I received the first sender that responded so as a last resort I had to respond to the entire group which I did not want to do.
Can you tell me how we could avoid that. |
Re: TWO QUESTIONS

Am I right in my assumption that private replies get sent to the member's email regardless of their email settings? (I'm thinking of members who have selected "no email").

Each email address = one account. You can change the email address associated with an account from your account settings. I have several email addresses that I use for different purposes. For example, some are for Amateur Radio topics and others for more general ones. I am in several groups in Groups.io for different topics like that. Not exactly what you asked about, but... I have all my messages from multiple groups sent to a single email address and let my email client filter them into mailboxes based on the "List-Id:" field in the message headers. Jim H |

What this means, as it relates to your question:? There is no way to change the delivery email address for a single group. To get the effect you want, you will have to unsub from that group and resub with your preferred (for that group) email address/account.*Thanks. I now think I understand the process. I will apply to join this group again under another email address and when, and if, that is approved I will unsubscribe from this one. Lawrence |
