Not receiving verification emails

 

I've signed up two test accounts, one from my vanity domain and one from my work email, and both are "NC" because I cannot seem to get a confirmation email! I may try my .gov email address next! But has anyone had issues with verification emails? We just migrated over from YG, and I'm concerned that any new members from here on out may not be able to confirm their memberships. And I can't even manually confirm them as the owner!?

I did email support about it, but I know that this is a free service, and I may not hear back for a while. I'd like to make sure this doesn't cause any issue for new members going forward.

Hi, I have a small group which includes 2 gmail users. ?Each time either send and email to the group it comes to me for Approval. ?Both are listed as override, no approval needed. ?Can I fix this?

I greatly doubt if any of the other members of this forum took all that kindly to what amounted to a misdirected rant. As Shal subsequently stated "Reported it where? If only to GMF then you're barking up the wrong tree. GMF is a user-to-user community."

"Please fix this?" In all probability the problem lies with with something that either you or your Group Owner or another group moderator has done; have you by any chance discussed it with them, and if not why not?

Both of the symptoms you mentioned may well be functions of Settings within your group; go to the Settings tab (a subset of Admin) and scroll down to Privacy - Member Directory; check what it is set to and change as necessary.

Then scroll down further to Features, and within that Files - Permissions; check what it is set to and change as required.

FWIW you mentioned "It has been months since I reported it". You only joined this group about 6 weeks ago and while your two previous posts were answered there was no feedback from you whatsoever. As Shal asked... Reported it where?

Please report back with what you found when checking the Settings suggested above.

To resolve bounces:
1 go to members page and see the email delivery history bounce error messages.
2 communicate those errors to tech support at the member's email service provider AS THEY ARE THE ONES DOING THE BLOCKING.
3 wait til tech support says the problem is fixed.
4 now send a bounce probe to see if the problem is really fixed.??
5 if the probe email is delivered and the member responds to the probe, groups.io will resume sending email to the member.

The member will not receive email, including a bounce probe email, until his service provider stops blocking email from groups.io.

I doubt that deleting him from your group would change anything since the email address is the account and it's the account that is bouncing.? The best solution would be for the member to log in to the web site, as distasteful as that is for some.? It's not as bad as it sounds if you use the information at /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/How-to-Set-a-Personal-Password-and-Profile%3B-Changing-Email-Address.? Once logged in, they can click on their name at the upper right, then select Account from the drop down.? On the page that opens, click on Recent Bounces on the left menu.

Does that mean that the 'invite.ics' won't appear either?
I believe so.

I think the .ics file is attached only to the invitation, if you send one, not to reminders or to the event notice.

I have a member that way back when we were having the issue with spectrum ?blocking emails from @roadrunner he never responded to the bounce probe.? He asked me today why he is not getting email at his triad.rr email and I see he has a Red Bounce icon.? I have sent him several bounce probes, but he says he is not getting them.? If I delete that email and he rejoins with that email would it fix it? ?I also asked him to check his spam for the bounce probe emails that I have sent today.? Any suggestions?

It sounds to me like some settings have been changed that limit the options for the group, creating these problems.? As the group owner, you should make sure everything is set correctly.? Group owners should send bug reports with all the details to [email protected].

Have you tried the tips given to you in /g/GroupManagersForum/topic/24155703 and /g/GroupManagersForum/topic/24947603?

It's possible that the group has exceeded it's storage capacity which would prohibit new files from being uploaded.

?I have been "kicking the tires" on groups io and have some questions: what is the current version number, how many users, how large is the support staff, is a mobile app forthcoming, Are? references available, what was the release date of the first non beta version.
My organization is currently using big tent for a communication system.? Unfortunately big tent is going out of business on December 31.

When you create a group, you set whether the messages (archive) are publicly viewable or private (not publicly viewable):


If you set private, you get the following warning - "Are you sure you wish to make this group's archives private? Private archives cannot be reverted later."
(If you set public, you might be able to change to private later, not sure about that.)

On the group's homepage you will see one of 2 options: (archives refers to the messages)
  • Archives are visible to subscribers only.
  • Archives are visible to anyone.
So the answer is - your group already has private messages ->?/g/PVED

Hello - I have created a new medical group and I¡¯m trying to establish privacy for the archive section?

Someone be able to direct me exactly where I can push the button that will make the archives not visible to anybody else but subscribers.

I¡¯ve looked and looked until I¡¯m cross eyed. Lol.
