Re: sub cant connect
mark sherrey
Hi Shai The member was invited by myself via an email from the group. When he clicks on the link his?browser comes back with network error and will not connect to the web page. What are the requirements to be able to connect to Group io? With thanks Mark. On Wed, Jul 11, 2018 at 5:29 PM, Shal Farley <shals2nd@...> wrote:

?, One of?my group cannot?join, he gets "network error" in his browser. ?That's very peculiar. I'll guess that it is either som?ething trivial (the member is putting an incorrect URL into iCab) or something very deeply wrong? with his network stack. More likely the former. To have any hope of guessing what the problem is we'd need more information, such as what he means by "cannot join". Does this mean that he can't access Groups.io at all (but the rest of the web is fine)? Or does this mean that he gets this error at some point while attempting to use the Groups.io sign-up page? Or does it mean something else? A screen-shot of the error might be a good place to start, but step-by-step info on what the member is trying to do will still be helpful. ?Shal? -- Help: /static/help More Help: /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki Even More Help: Search button at the top of Messages list |
RSVP
Hi.
Does anyone have any experience of using the feature to request/track RSVPs to events that is included in the (paid) Premium and Enterprise plans?? There's a (very) small amount of information about it at the foot of this page?/static/pricing?and a longer discussion of how the beta version worked back in 2016 here??but I'd like to know more about how it works and how it looks today. If anyone is setting up an event with RSVP in the near future, I'd be grateful for information about how it works, perhaps with screenshots. Our association is currently on the free Basic plan. The machine read rows of binary from the card (progams or data) and it stopped reading as soon as that hole was encountered, so rows further down the card were ignored. This was unlike other punched card machinery, which normally read cards as columns of decimal/alpha, one digit per column. Input data in that format (which was normal) had to be converted on the fly by the program as the cards were read. Linda,
As a owner/moderator, If I send a private message to a member via theNo. Currently your only option is to check one of the BCC boxes below the message composition box. Can I search a members name for messages within the group ...No. The message search currently includes only the message body, not the sender's Display Name, User Name, or Email Address. ... or only once I have located them in the member directory? In the Messages section, if you find one of their messages you can find the rest by selecting "All Posts By This Member" from the More menu. Re: Footer Links
Toby,
I agree that both footers should provide the same links (odd that theyThe reason is that the Reply To Group and Reply To Sender URLs are particularly long and ugly. ?? Sharon?, In spite of being misspelled, what does this mean? ?In groups which have that option turned on, the Groups.io footer (including any group-specific addition) is placed in a separate "part" of the email message body; separate from the message body proper. That makes possible the use of a digital signature to prove that you sent that text. ? It provides a syntax for markers which act as the dividers between the parts, and also for fields to describe the content of each part. One of the more common uses for MIME is to carry both a plain text and a formatted version of an email message. These days most if not all email interfaces can display the formatted text, but having a plain version of the message provides backward-compatibility for mail interfaces which cannot. Or users who choose not to see it. ?Shal ? -- Help: /static/help More Help: /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki Even More Help: Search button at the top of Messages list |
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHeijo,Another way to approach this problem is: what are the criteria for io to decide if the yahoogroup name I enter for a transfer is valid or not? Are these criteria detailed somewhere? I don't think so. The key is that it must be the "name" of a Yahoo Group. Specifically, the text you put into the Web Address and/or Group Email field on the About Group tab of the Y!Group's Control Panel. Not including any of the grey text outside those boxes: Is this group name field case-sensitive? I don't know, but if you copy from the field in the Y!Group's control panel you can't go wrong. I think. If that still doesn't work, then I think you have a case you need to take to [email protected] to resolve. Re: Reply-To: in messages
David,
What you are proposing is a discussion group afaics, but moreThe messages coming in through the integration can be moderated to prevent spamming; just as ordinary group messages can be. For the other people it is simpler than a discussion group: they didn't have to join anything nor deal with extraneous messages (announcements about others). And it isn't that much more complicated for you - set up the integration and after that the group operates in a normal fashion. The key distinction, over what you're doing, is that the others initiate the messages - which may be a bad thing if you prefer acting as curator and author of the announcements. Re: DKIM causing bounces
Jeff,
That is why I am wondering if something changed with groups.io.I would have said no, but now that you've dug up the actual source of the problem, I'll say maybe. It was working great until the end of May. I own 2 active groups.ioWhich could have been when the time discrepancy crept in, or it could be when Zoho added that test to their processing. Is there a way to get a more complete bounce message with headersNot that I know of. You could ask support, but I think that may be a moot question for this incident. The error code and message are supposed to be enough. If Zoho is using a generic code and text, the elaborating elsewhere in the body of the failure notice then I think that's kind of on them. Re: DKIM causing bounces
Lena,
DKIM signatures don't contain dates.Actually they do contain a timestamp. In this case t=1531244118; which is GMT: Tuesday, July 10, 2018 5:35:18 PM -- 18 seconds ahead of the Received field, as advertised. Looking at your message I have t=1531269237; aka GMT: Wednesday, July 11, 2018 12:33:57 AM; and Gmail's Received from Groups.io is Tue, 10 Jul 2018 17:33:38 -0700 (PDT). Nineteen seconds ahead. I doubt Gmail's servers are off, so I'm going to CC support on this one. Zoho can be faulted for that confusing minus sign though ("-18 seconds in the future"). And for one of the more picayune reasons to bounce a message I've heard of. But a sanity check is a sanity check I suppose. I wonder if they have any tolerance on that - would one second in the future also cause a bounce? Record of private e-mails sent to members via the group and search members postings.
As a owner/moderator, If I send a private message to a member via the group, is there a history of it somewhere? (If i give them a warning does it show up anywhere or is the only way to also add a note) ? Can I search a members name for messages within the group or only once I have located them in the member directory?? If I search members and then put the members e-mail address I can search all of their postings but if I am in the main message board and search using their e-mail address all of their e-mails do not show up. |
