When you go dark mode, is it just for your computer or for the group?

Don't remove them because it will not help your group to do that.I humbly disagree. RI members do count against your membership quota. If you're a Basic group nearing 100 members, these represent subscriptions that could be vacated for the benefit of others. Conversely, if you're a paid group, you're paying extra money to keep them on. Another reason is simply because you find them bothersome. They can't post, aren't receiving messages, and cannot even read messages online. If they cared, they would have complained a long time ago. Why continue to cling to a handful of subscribers who clearly don't give a hoot? The final reason is to get them to do something about their status. While repeated notifications from groups.io have failed to get their attention, maybe removing them from the group will finally get them off their chair. Probably not, but it might. You're the group owner, and are fully empowered to send these subscribers to the bit-bucket. While I just gave you three good reasons to do so, I'm struggling to think of any good reason not to. With my group, for instance, there are still a significant number of flagged members (close to 200) who have not made any effort to revalidate their member accounts. Now I'm wondering whether it might be time to just go ahead and remove those stagnant RI members. ... In my opinion, you should not do that.? You don't need to do that; they don't hurt to leave them alone. When Mark Fletcher thinks it is important to remove them, he can do that, on HIS schedule.? There is no need for any group owner or moderator to do that. At this point I'm very tempted to begin removing them. If this is a suitable option fine, but is there some other way of doing this which might be better? Or should I just wait 'til Mark Fletcher gets around to deleting them? Again, it is only my opinion, but I feel you should leave them alone and let Mark deal with them, which he will eventually.? They do not affect your group in any way.? Don't remove them because it will not help your group to do that. My group has a few "RI" members whom I recognize so they are occasionally active in the group, and it would be a loss to lose them, but I can't force them to reverify themselves if they aren't listening this month.? Eventually, when they are dropped, they may come to realize that they should do something, and then they will simply rejoin. The only reason for removing them is that it makes some of the places such as Spamhaus happier to know that Groups.io (i.e., Mark Fletcher) has a process for removing accounts that are stale and truly should not be there.? If you remove them, it won't help, not one bit.? If Mark removes them, he can tell Spamhaus what he did to clean up the deadwood. Andy I |

One of our members left the group via web, all moderators got a notification. Then today he directly rejoined the group with the same e-mail address. The activity log states "XY resumed their membership via web". We have no idea why he left and came back in a few days. Apparently, he wasn't removed because he marked a message as spam as we didn't receive any notification about that.

Now, after having sent 'round three or four emails to the group alerting what should be done, only a very few of these flagged members have done anything and were reverifed. Re: Dark mode and hashtags
Just curious, is there a way - setting, code, etc - that you can change the color of hashtags?? For example, maybe a medium blue (like we use for hyperlinks)?? That way the dark mode won't be a problem and the hashtags will be legible? ~Chelle in OKC ======= On Thu, Apr 25, 2024 at 5:30?PM SafeTex via <safetex=[email protected]> wrote:

Bouncing workaround.
I manage the group for my Church.?
Many members (including older ones) are tech novices so it is difficult for them to follow the normal procedure to clear a bounce. Folks are approaching me to complain they are not getting list messages and want to know "can't you just fix it?" If I know that a bouncing address is clear (I can send email to it with no problem), can I work around by unsubscribing the member, then doing a direct add? I know this is not the "approved" method, but I don't see anything forbidding it either. Opinions? Thanks in advance, Tom |
