You don't have to do anything. If you have an active Pending Subscription notice in a Restricted group, and someone sends an email or clicks on a link to join, the message is sent out automatically.

Then when you receive the reply from the potential member, you decide on whether or not you want the person as a member.

To see Feed, go to your groups.io homepage. Any of the groups you belong to.
Click on Groups.io in the blue band. You will see a list of the groups you subscribe to.
That's the default view.?
However just above Your Groups, there is a another view - Feeds. Click.
You will see that GMF has a small icon.?
You can see this in your email (I can on my iPhone). Useful to see at a glance which group you are opening.

Yes, if you're the owner or moderator, you'll see all members, but if
you're just an ordinary member, you may possibly only see the members
who have enabled their directory presence themselves.

In my one group, ordinary members can't see the directory at all unless
they change their "group profile"'s profile privacy to "other members":

/g/zalangmed/editprofile

...and after they've done that, they can see the other members who have
presumably done the same. So, for some reason, in this one group of
mine, members have to specifically **opt in** to be in the directory. I
assume this is typical.

The setting for both ... "Members Visible" in the Privacy section is
"Subscribers"...

As Bruce has said, the members list is different from the directory.

The members list always shows all members' e-mail addresses and their
subscription settings, but no images and no bio, and only the Display
Name can be customised by the user.

The directory does not show members' e-mail addresses (unless they
specifically mention it in their bio), and can contain photos of
members, their web site addresses, a biography, etc.

I'm not sure if it is possible to force members to be in the directory.

Slightly. Individual subscribers have a setting that allows them to withold their Directory entries from other members. As you are an Owner they cannot hide themselves from you, only from other members. In so doing they are also denied the ability to look at those members who do make their profiles public,

Having said that having only 4 visible entries out of 733 is a remarkably small number.

Apart from checking your hashtags as suggested by Duane there is something else that might be worth checking although your point quoted above about "a certain topic" rather than more than one topic detracts from that.

Have a look in Admin > Settings and scroll down to Message Policies; check that Automatically Lock Topics Older Than --- days hasn't been set.

Please forgive me if this is a dumb question. I am a brand new owner of a brand new group.

We just transferred from a Yahoo Group and one of our subscribers tells me that she is having trouble viewing the directory of subscribers. When she clicks on Directory in the menu on the left side of the page, she sees 4 of our 733 members. The four appear to have little in common, in terms of the alphabetical listing of their names or the dates they originally joined the Yahoo Group. The setting for both the Member Directory and Members Visible in the Privacy section is Subscribers, which I would have thought would cover this. Am I missing something? Is she?

Sounds like it. It's worth making the distinction between first party and third party cookies when blocking (most browsers will let you distinguish).

Broadly, if not infallibly, first-party cookies are set by the website you're using to make the experience smoother for the duration of your visit. Third-party cookies?can help when switching between related sites, but are more open to abuse. Like they say, any technology can be weaponized :-).

Different browsers use different terminology, but probably you're looking to block 'tracking', 'cross-site tracking' or 'third party' rather than all cookies. Firefox probably has the most fine-grained control at the moment.

Thanks, Derek.? I think that may be what's happening, as I just found I am able to log in on my laptop, just not on my ipad on which I did recently block cookies.

Does it have hashtag(s)?? One of the options for each hashtag is to Moderate after x days.? That happens automatically, usually overnight.

Obviously it will cost more if you want / need Groups.io to transfer your groups from Yahoo Groups for you. Transferring to a subgroup is free (but frankly not sure that Mark was thinking of 69 subgroups!).

But I think you would find it less confusing to manage.?

That took care of the problem. Why a certain topic was changed to moderated I don't know. I do not have anyone else as a moderator at this time to have changed it.
I'll have to keep an eye on that. Thanks for the response.

I think part of the confirmation process is also to have the
subscriber confirm that they did indeed ask to join the group. It is
possible for someone else to have entered their address in a sign up
form like the one available on the Promote page. So in my mind the
confirmation is checking to see that the email address is valid and that
the person actually wants to join the list.

Very well worded.? Our group went into a PANIC mode when they had heard of the YG notice a month back.? Much of our membership has no lick of computer understanding whatsoever, but ask them the difference between a live 'PTO' and a clutch driven one and they can easily help you.

I'm very grateful to Groups.io being available for a time like this.? Rather than panic, I took a step forward and offered plan #1 & #2.? Sticking to the plan(s) will result in winning.? Chaos will loose the race as the time crunch gets worse.

There are still YG groups over there who still have not yet heard of the YG going away as we know it today.? I've already alerted 2 groups in the past 24 hours.? On immediately came here and re-established a footing here.?

The history of some of the groups is priceless.? I read about the CNC machinist group.? This group helps keep down manufacturing costs for finished goods.? The last thing we need is price increases in the stores.? Likewise, many in my group are into homestead organic farming from field to your dinner plate.? It has economic impact with the YG going dark.?

Have you started blocking all cookies on your web browser? Groups.io sets a cookie when you log in, which is then used to avoid logging in for subsequent pages. If *all* cookies are blocked rather than just 3rd-party, this can cause the problem you're seeing.

Also try just exiting and restarting the browser; bit of a cliche but sometimes...

If someone is totally new to the site and has not yet created an account, an attempt will be made by the site to create one for them.? Part of this procedure is for them to reply to an email sent to them, thus confirming a good email address.? If they've attempted to join your group (at the same time or later), you'll see a pinkish NC next to their email address on your member list.? On a Premium group, you can confirm that address instead of them replying to the email they received.? Some folks make a mistake when entering their email address, others don't read the confirmation email.? If you confirm the address and it's incorrect, it will start bouncing, so be sure it's right before confirming for them if you go that route.
