Re: Where is the permission to make a member an owner

Hi Shal, thanks for the quick?response . I agree this may be a bug that requires a fix as shutting off that permission takes away some permissions to do valid moderator functions. ? Like?setting member subscription options.

How can this issue be escalated?

The guilty permission is Set Moderator Privileges. It doesn't say
anything about owners, and it shouldn't allow one to affect owners. But
it does.

Re: Second group to move

Basic groups can have files, group calendar, photos, wiki, polls, etc.?
They are restricted in amount of storage and you can't have Groups.io transfer your messages, etc. from Yahoo Groups.

Basic plan?
No, to do a transfer, including messages, it would require a year of Premium.? The only other option would be if it could be a subgroup of an existing group that transferred, but that can get messy, /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Why-use-a-Subgroup

You can't.? Only the person that initiated the transfer will see status information for a specific transfer.

Klicking this links means: you have to make a new login
Does this happen when reading the message as an email or when read on the web UI?

And is this your experience or is it something someone else has reported?

Re: How to move a group with no owner?

Dale,

We did nearly the same thing with our message.? BUT, I had spend nearly 8 hours+ scrubbing out the Yahoo Ads, SPAM, porn postings, and odd HTML-5 characters from the message archive.?

I had then saved the messages into an HTML (takes 3mins on fast connection for 31400+ messages to load).

The spread sheet formats open very quickly otherwise.? These are also saved to CVS, then to OpenOffice .ods and finally Office 2013 extended excel format .xlsx

This way, one can filter, search and literally pin-point exactly what they need in seconds.??? Our groups is the 2nd largest tractor membership over there with a combined membership over 4,100+ folks.?
?
Our group is very old from Prodigy to GeoCities to Yahoo and now Groups.io.?
?
PGOffline helped out greatly.

Checking transfer status of group I co-own

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

I am a co-owner of a group that paid the premium fee just before it doubled.? I did not upgrade the group or request the transfer. Where can I find the information for/about the transfer and its status?? The only things that show up when I go to "easy group transfer" and then yahoo groups transfer just lists the 2 groups I had previously transferred and does not show the group I co own.? How can I check the status of that group?

Thank you.

Jim

Re: klicking links to files in our group needs to login again

Bruce,
Cookies are allowed - for example I've 6 groups.io cookies and they? are not discarded after each session. That seems not to be the solution..

Oh by option I meant that IO group removed a member for spam .
It is not an Option. It is a simple fact of life based on an industry protocol between mail providers. Groups.io has to choose between stopping sending to addressees where a message has been determined as spam (sometimes by the recipient mail provider) or risk being blocked completely.

There is rejoin they can use .
Yes, and your members should use it!

But Let us determine if soemthing is spam so we can address it to the group . How do you reduce the risk in a group that doesn't even discuss things that are questionable . We should be able to see what was said so we know not to let it happen
That simply won't work; it is an entirely automated process that operates without human intervention. You are right in that it might be something in the message content that is causing difficulty but it equally well might not be. Mail providers operate their own detection algorithms and there is no real chance of knowing what might upset one of them.

Did you read the wiki section that Bruce drew to your attention earlier in this thread? There is nothing "secret" about it so by all means either copy it into your own wiki (and draw your members' attention to it!) or post a link to it on your group so that the members can read it; after all it is the members themselves who have to know about it and know what to do and not do to reduce the risk of being removed from membership.

I accept that this must seem highly unsatisfactory from your viewpoint, but you must also accept that there is no setting you can alter to make things any different. You will have to do what the rest of us have to do; live with it and learn how to minimise the impact.

Doug wrote: I am sure someone here can better explain why this happens than I can. See the wiki section that Bruce linked above for chapter and verse..

Re: yG Privacy Dashboard download #yahooprivacydashboard #ioimportpl

Several of us are seeing the same problem?when we log in and got to the download page:

Your Yahoo Groups data

Your download request has been completed, but no data of this type is available in your account.

We have deleted the request and resubmitted and still get nothing back

One person logged in, saw her data, came back a day later and it was gone.

Christoph -- The login is stored as a browser cookie. Some people have their browser set up to discard cookies after each session. If you don't want to end up logging in again and again, you have to configure the browser not to do that.

Hope this helps,

Re: What is my "profile" exactly? If set to "public" how can I see what the public version looks like?

Re: View profile at?/g/<groupname>/profile/@<profilename>

Thanks. That's very useful. This info should really be in the help pages.

The following is a rant which doesn't require any specific response:

<rant>
The
?page at:

home ->?myname?-> Account -> Identity -> (Global) Account Profile (defaults) or (Group Profiles -> <group name>) -> Edit

doesn't have a title.? It also doesn't tell you whether you're editing the "Account Profile" (really the Global Account Profile defaults), or the account profile for a specific group.

When editing the account profile for a specific group, it should say something like "(default)" for the fields which are using the default.

Also, if editing the account profile for a specific group, there should be a link to the very nice page you pointed me to.
</rant>

Ok, I feel better now.? Thanks

Ben

klicking links to files in our group needs to login again

Good evening,?
we have much files in our group (more than 1000); in our messages we often make links to this files.?

Klicking this links means: you have to make a new login (1) - and than you can save the linked file (2) and than open it (3).

Why you must login again (1) -though the user is logged in yet ?

Is it possible to avoid this ? Maybe this is a problem of the browser, because one of our members must not loggin again and again !

Yahoo Group Transfer

Hello,

I have requested a Yahoo group transfer, invited [email protected]?to become a member, and when I go to the transfer page it says that they have already accepted my invite and I need to make them a moderator of the Yahoo group (I am familiar with the process since I've already completed one full transfer.) However, when I look in that Yahoo group under Management/Members, the [email protected]?is not listed as a member, and therefore I cannot make them a moderator and continue with the process. I have tried re-sedning the invite from the Yahoo group, but each time I return to check transfer status at groups.io, it says that it's awaiting me to make them a moderator and again, they are not even showing up as a member of that Yahoo group. (Although groups.io message indicates they have accepted my member invite, they do not show up as a member and I can't therefore make them a moderator to continue the process). What should I do? I don't really want to delete the transfer request since I put it in three weeks ago and I don't want to be bumped way to the back of the queue. Is there a way to contact groups.io transfer personal directly with my Yahoo group information and request that they go in again to accept the membership invite?

Thanks,
pnrt?

There's probably a lot of html code included, so it easily trips spam/virus filters, even if it's not.

You probably need to use the Pending Member notice, /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Screening-New-Members-Using-the-Pending-Subscription-Notice? Be sure you have your subscription set to All Emails under the Owner Email section or they'll never get to you.
