I think the monthly message was the same very month, and I assume it will be that way on groups.io. What it will say depends on who is in charge of the group. I have determined that will not be me. But the man who is giving up the group said he is asking some friends about taking over.?

I have the messages in my daily digests in emails, but they'll just be harder to find.

I read that they are created when entered in the subject line...?

Logical assumption. How else would Yahoo know which groups to download?

I had several identity addresses that I used to sort out emails from different groups. Some were Yahoo and others weren't. That did not cause any issues.??My download included all of my groups that I still belong to.

(FYI: The download also included files and photos that were uploaded after the supposed October 28 deadline.)

I accepted their TOS early on, when first required. So that's not the
issue in my case.

I suspect that your original invitation from Yahoo Groups to the Groups.io transfer email address was never sent by Yahoo Groups (in my experience with transferring 19 groups, I have found that 3 out of 10 invitations fail because Yahoo Groups is so flaky. If I were in your shoes, I would re-send the invitation from the Yahoo Group immediately.?

I logged in with my Yahoo ID when requesting the Yahoo groups data download. My default email address is at gmail.com
After 8 days, I receive notification that my Yahoo groups data is ready for download today. As far as I can tell, I see data from all the groups I belong to, not just the ones I manage. For those who got no data, perhaps try again?

Does this not overlook the possibility of simple human error? The sentence would then read Then no Board member should post on the wrong one.

It only needs a momentary loss of focus to send a sensitive post to the wrong place, especially if all it needs is to select the wrong email address. Opportunities for human error may be reduced, but they cannot be eliminated altogether.

I've thought of directly adding the Groups.io group address to the
Yahoo group, but it looks like Yahoo is requiring a Yahoo ID for that
now.

I was able to do this.

One key is to check the "Allow Non Subscribers to Post" box in the Groups.io group. That does mean that I need to approve all such posts, but because the Yahoo Group is not a member of the Groups.io group the original poster's From information comes through in the display name of the message. Also, there is no chance of a message loop.

I don't recall if it was the -subscribe request (spoofed From the Groups.io posting address, courtesy of my Yahoo Mail account) or the invite that worked. In the case of an invite it would be important to check the "Add only to mailing list" box to avoid the need to associate it with a Yahoo ID (account).

The result is a bit ugly though, as the messages come through with the Groups.io footer appended below the Yahoo Group footer.

I would rather have used an Email Integration address than the group's posting address for this, to avoid the moderation requirement, but Yahoo Groups called the coded integration address Invalid and wouldn't let me invite it, nor respond to it when it tried to -subscribe.

I tried the migration strategies when we first moved our group from Yahoo to groups.io.? Nothing worked out in terms of migrating historic content.
I just recently was able (with Yahoo's latest tools) download all the content from the group.?? So at least now I have an archive of the old content.

I was wondering, is there any mechanism to import this content into my already existing Groups.io group??? Groups.io is working fine for us
(much less hassle than Yahoo and FINALLY timely delivery of messages...)

I started the process per the:
/yahoo/transfer page
to move the EuropaAssociation@yahoogroups to [email protected]. I paid the $220 premium fee and went through the "set up new transfer", including sending an invite from the Yahoo group to [email protected]..

Per the transfer page the next step is that groups.io will accept the invite and sent me an email directing me to make the [email protected] member a moderator. However, it has now been 10 days and I have still not even been contacted by groups.io. I cannot find anything on this site that gives me any way to contact groups.io about this problem. Can anyone here help?

Please let me know what happens. I was unable to add the email address I use for groups to the list of addresses yahoo has on file for me. Seems they no longer allow that. Maybe there’s a way around that though.

Our group too is looking right now at the PGOffline.? At the present time, our Yahoo Group is the largest tractor membership of 2793 members within Yahoo Groups after the Verizon takeover.? Before that, the John Deere group was the largest.

Our only concern is having messages as an archive to review when needed.? Most of the messages deal with tractor fixes, 3pt attachments, and what size diesel engines can do what type of work.

Myself and other group members no longer have a Yahoo Owner nor moderator anymore.? Thus, it's just a few of the members doing the work.? We lost the owner back in 2009.? Then the mods during the Verizon ordeal because none of them could get their accounts to work, even with Yahoo assisting them.

So, after trying a few of the Python options (most didn't work now after the Oct 28th date) PGOffline seems to be our only option as small farm farmers don't have $220 to go premium nor another $200 to expedite.

So, with email addresses, how are we handling this ???? We have sent out DAILY reminders for folks to join us at Groupsio post on the current Yahoo Gruops.? We have posted this in various tractor forums on the web as well.? Both in English and in the known other international countries too.?

Sure, it would have been GREAT to have an owner or mod helping in this, but nobody is left.? Our group was left on AUTO-PILOT.? Our issue is, the plane is running out of fuel on Dec 13th at midnight, and how do we land this thing.? Groupsio is the runway in sight.?? We want all aboard our membership to survive, but we do know there will be those as causalities.?? BUT, some farmers are now in retirement homes, passed on already or let the business.

This has happened before, and only support can look up the other transfer for you ([email protected]). At that point you should be able to contact whoever owns the other group and find a way to work out which will proceed (i.e.: who is going to delete their pending transfer request).

You should continue to do that, and redirect anyone who attempts to post to the new group. If their messages aren't getting through, they will soon get the idea.

If you must, you can set up an email integration on groups.io and a forwarding address on your own mail provider such that group emails are forwarded to the integration address. Please be aware of the risk of dupe loops arising from this practice.

The actual "best practice" is to simply redirect people who attempt to post to the old group as stated above. You have to cut them off eventually, and there's really no benefit to be derived from not starting now.
