Yahoo won¡¯t let me send the invite again, at least not now.
I don't understand this. Did you get the dreaded "an error occurred loading the content?" More information needed.

How long should it take for the invite to be accepted? ?I¡¯m sure they are backed up, so maybe this is normal?

Accepting the invite can take 2-3 days, but receiving it should be almost instantaneous (see?).

According to your transfer status, there is no record of your invite being sent at all. So you need to try again until the transfer status says "We have received your invite and will accept it soon..." (Note: it might help to refresh that page, too).

Hi Bruce,

Yes, it did - thanks! I resent the invite after I sent this message and now it says that it¡¯s been received. But I did get that message last week too. It took quite awhile to get past the Yahoo error message last night.

Hopefully you can see it now. I have no idea when my status changed from ¡°we received¡± to ¡°make sure to send¡±. When I did it a week ago, I expected to see it as a group member quickly and did not, so I sent it again, and it was then that I saw ¡°no need to resend¡± so I quietly apologized and sat on my hands.?

I should get an email saying it¡¯s been accepted?

Thanks again for your help.
Diane

Re: New group not functioning

Are you absolutely, positively sure that you are addressing the messages to the group? No mispellings, no extra punctuation, etc.? What happens when you reply to a previous message?

Now, this is interesting.

I temporarily set the group to allow posts from non-members, and sent a message from an unsubscribed email address.

I got a message that moderation was required for that message, as you would expect.

I replied to the notice, which should release it, it didn't.

Went onto the PENDING page, it showed that test message, ticked it and selected APPROVE. That message unticked itself and remained in the list!

So clearly, there is something blocking message posts at a low system elve. I wonder if an internal setting that is used to stop posts temporarily during the import process, got left on or something??

YES, shown as the owner.

Assuming that you are still listed as the Owner have your attempts to post been from your own (registered) email address?
YES, from my original registered email address. (and others)

Now this is a very long shot; check your settings; under Spam Control make sure that Announcement Group is not checked. (As an Owner or Moderator this should not make any difference, but things seem to be getting desparate!)

Only the first item (restricted membership is checked), Annoucement Group is NOT checked. I did check all of these, save and then uncheck them again and resaved, just in case something is munged deep in the settings.

NO difference.

Thanks for the suggestions.

This is certainly true. And of course this would?t even be practical for important messages as the ones I cited.

I certainly wouldn't argue against the topic being sticky in Messages view, but seriously doubt if it would greatly increase members' awareness of them, unless you have managed to get your members to work mainly or solely from the web UI.
(If you did, please tell me how because I might try to copy it!)

Hihi! No, I regret I haven?t found the trick to do so yet but I am working on it. And as far as the inclination for reading is concerned, even if they did work mainly from the web UI, I doubt many of them even read the sticky messages. Most members don?t even read the footers which are permanently included in mail messages. Biut nontheless: I write my guides and other texts for the few ones who read, most possibly ?I am an uncurable optimist¡

Re: New group not functioning

I tried posting to the group from a NON-subscribed email address, it was properly rejected, and got a rejection message back.

Just for some reason, valid posts are not getting in.

Re: New group not functioning

I tried posting as the new added member (alternate email), and same thing, nothing happened. The post just disappeared, not acknowledged, not rejected and not forwarded.

While I agree with you wholeheartedly the concept of a Sticky Topic only has meaning to members who use the web UI as a matter of routine. (FWIW that is my own personal preference.)

Subscribers who work mainly or exclusively by email (and anecdotal evidence points to this being the widespread preference) won't have sticky topics permanently at the top of their Inboxes; they will either slide into oblivion off the bottom or simply be deleted.
