In earlier times I would create an account in Thunderbird that had the group's +owner address as its address. I'd configure it to send by way of my default SMTP server (my ISP's server) using my normal ISP address and credentials. I'd leave the POP/IMAP fields unused because it has nowhere to check for incoming mail. Selecting that address in the From field drop-list would produce a "spoofed" email message: one that says it is From the +owner address, but the sender is my normal ISP address. Since most recipients probably wouldn't inspect the message header I considered that "good enough". This technique used to be (may still be) possible within the Yahoo Mail and Gmail interfaces also, with some fuss. These days though both sending services and receiving services are "cracking down" on messages spoofed in this fashion, so I'm no longer confident that the technique would be effective, even if your sending service still allows it. You can do a non-spoof version of the same thing in Thunderbird by using an account that has your normal address as its address, but has something like "Groupname Moderator" as its Display Name. This will give the recipient the desired impression of who it is from, and if you couple that with use of Reply-To then any reply will go to the +owner address rather than your own. Hmm... Good idea, glad you made me think of it (I'll have to try it someday).
I think so too. I haven't gone searching in beta to cite where it has been discussed before, but I'm fairly certain that it has. It may have been part of some other topic or seen as something to be done together with some larger feature. Whatever the case it hasn't (yet) been implemented. If you want to advocate for the feature you may wish to create a new topic in beta suggesting it. You'll improve the odds that Mark takes notice if you describe a use case, and also if you can find and cite prior discussions. (My theory: the less time he has to spend on understanding the suggestion the more time he'll likely spend on implementing it). Your Subject text confuses me. Did you mean "Import & Export of Database files in JSON format"? If not, the phrase "CSV Database files" is what I don't understand. I tried this multiple times and the only row that would export was theI've used the Export Table button, sometimes selecting JSON, and other times selecting CSV. In each case all rows were included. So I'm not sure how it could be going wrong for you. In the case of JSON, the table parameters come first, then column definitions, then row contents. In JSON the concept of a HEADER row is implemented as an array of column definition objects. Likewise the rows are represented as an array of row definition objects, each of which contains some row parameters followed by an array of column values for that row. JSON is a rather tediously verbose format for humans, but it does capture all of the information about the table, where CSV does not. Change the Group Email Address on the group's Settings page. Don't forget the blue Update Group button at the bottom of the page.

After the change your subscribers will be able to access the group's pages at the new name via their Your Groups page, but if they have any browser bookmarks to the old name they'll need to update them. And if you've put links to your group on other sites you'll need to update them.

Likewise, your group members will start receiving group messages that reference the new name, but they may need to update their email address book. If they attempt to reply to a message sent before the change they'll need to update the email address in their reply.

What Bruce said. I generally reply directly from my email client (Thunderbird). That does expose my email address to the other person, but I'm not much concerned with that in most of my groups. I do CC my reply to the +owner address as well as Reply-To the +owner address, that way the other owners stay in on the conversation. In Thunderbird Reply-To is an option just like CC and BCC.
If you're seeing the message in the Activity log, and the Subject text isn't a link to the message, then the message was sent from a non-member. Groups.io does not store
non-member messages to +owner
nor provide a means to reply to them.
I'm not exactly certain why that is, but perhaps such messages are more likely to be spam and there could be a lot of them, wasting space. I could see a utility to storing them for a limited duration, or limited amount of storage consumed, with auto-deletion after that. In doing so, the paste inserts an <img> tag containing the URL of the original image. It is not stored in groups.io, but is instead pulled up from the other site as needed to display. If that URL later changes or the image is removed from the original site, a broken link will appear instead. If you want to be able to do this reliably, I suggest you upload your images to cloud storage (Google Drive or some such) so the URLs remain static and you have some control of when the images get deleted. ? Marcio, Still talking about goodbye messages and the like, can I quote the person's name on my goodbye message using a variable or something like that? No. That is not currently a Groups.io feature, but perhaps it ought to be. Something like that is done in the boilerplate portion of Invitations (though not under the control of the group owner/mod). I think this means that there is no technical barrier to doing this. I think the only tricky part is deciding on the syntax that triggers substitution, and the list of things that can be inserted. The Invitation preview
uses the form [name], but $name might be just as good. Refer also to: That topic is now locked, but you should start a new topic in beta anyway because yours
