Re: Email Question
Brian Vogel
I do not ever recall, whether on Groups.io or other mailing lists, getting copies of messages I send to the list back in my inbox, as I sent them and don't need a copy.? E-mail is mature enough that "it went successfully" should be presumed unless you get a bounce message back.
That being said, I could have sworn that there was a setting somewhere that acts quite a bit like the "BCC Me" option when you're sending a private message, but that is to make your own messages sent to the list come back to you.? ?I cannot seem to locate it at the moment, and I could be imagining things. -- Brian?-?Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 1809, Build 17763?? ? ? ?Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it. ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?~ George Santayana |
Re: Group.io Welcome Message
#gmail
#membernotices
Roxanne,
He may not have used that address to join any groups, but that message tells us that he did something (a +subscribe email command, or entering that address on the web site) and Groups.io sent a confirmation request to that address. The person receiving that request responded to it, so this notice acknowledges that the email address is now confirmed, and can be used with group subscriptions.
None of the above matter.
Yes. That text looks to be a legit notice from Groups.io. As Duane said, one would need to look at the message header to be sure, but I see no reason to suspect that it is fraudulent.
I'm not sure there's anything to "troubleshoot" here. It takes a chain of events to get to that message (as above) but those events are straightforward enough that either he (or his wife, if that's her address in the notice) might have taken those steps.
Most likely this is a simple case of confusion, but if that's her address in the notice, then even if the person
who phished her email address then went on to register it with Groups.io,
that's still pretty harmless once she regains control of her email
address.
At any rate, this won't have any effect on his subscription in your group, as each email address is its own account. The only concern is that he might find it confusing to have some group subscriptions at one address and others at another, if that's what's happening. Re: Unmoderating a bunch of members when list is set for no moderation
Bill, I see in the table there is a checkbox which I am uncertain what it means.? Further along there is an Uncheck all check.? ? The checkboxes select which members will be affected when you chose an item from the Actions menu. This method allows you to change the settings of one or more selected members at a time. I have the list set for no post moderation.? As I look along the members certain ones will say New Moderated.? The ones that have NuM imply that you have the New Users Moderated box checked in the Spam Control section of your group's Settings. That checkbox works in conjunction with the Unmoderate After control to automatically remove the NuM after you have approved the set number of messages from that member. When it removes the NuM it sets the member to use the group setting: the Moderated checkbox. ? I have set some to Use Group settings, but I want to unmoderate a series of them.? Changing them to Use Group Moderation Setting will cause them to be unmoderated, so long as the group's Moderated checkbox remains unchecked. This is the most flexible way of handling things so that you can, if needed, temporarily set the entire group to Moderated in the event of a "flame war" or other disturbance. I strongly recommend against using that setting. It prevents you from later controlling those members in a batch by use of the group's Moderated checkbox.- Instead, set those members to Use Group Moderation Setting, or don't manually set them at all. If they currently have Override: new user moderated then they will be automatically switched to use the group moderation setting when you approve one (or more) of their messages. You could resend the attachment with personal information deleted/obfuscated.? It would be better if you had the actual email to check the header information to see where it was actually sent from.? (But don't post it here!)? Anyone can enter an email address to subscribe, but the confirmation will always be sent to that address.? Unlikely, but possible this is what happened.

This is not available using a Digest. b) If the post-er has created a group profile and made it public, you go to his profile and click on the blue "Email" button. c) If the group allows private replies, you should be able to access "reply to sender" via a link in the message footer (again, this requires Individual Email message delivery). Re: How to export calendar events
Cherry -- I don't think it can currently be done.?
The only "export" of the calendar I have seen is an ICS file. Open your calendar and click the "Subscribe to Calendar" button. In the resulting dialog box, click the little blue clipboard button, then paste your clipboard contents into the address field of a new browser tab. A feed.ics file will download containing your events in a fairly human-readable format. I don't know of any convenient way to import that to Excel, however. I have also tried to download my calendar events using the group export function found at Admin>Settings>Export Group Data. Although I know my calendar actually does contain events, the resulting zip file was empty. This strikes me as a bug and I will report it to support. Regards, Bruce P.S. Note that I have merged your three recent posts into this one topic. Please avoid opening several threads to ask the same question. -- The system Help is your friend.??/static/help |
Re: Unmoderating a bunch of members when list is set for no moderation
I guess I don't fully understand the situation. What is your Spam Control setting?
If you have already vetted the people joining your group by some other means and don't want to moderate anybody at all, then your group should be Restricted; new members will have to either apply for membership or be invited by you. Otherwise, you will have to do some message moderation, at least the first message or two. It is not possible to allow people to join your group and immediately post messages without moderation. That would just be asking for trouble. Anyway, to answer the question:? Open your members list (Admin>Members). Tick the checkboxes next to the members you wish to unmoderate. Scroll to the bottom and select "Change Moderation" from the Actions menu. In the resulting dialog box, select the "Override: not moderated" radio button, then click the blue Change button. Having done so, those members should now display a "P" (Can Post) badge in the member list. I do recommend that you revisit your Spam Control setting before doing something like this. Hope this helps, Bruce -- The system Help is your friend.??/static/help |

If you have a free group:
Go to Admin from the left menu, then click Upgrade.? The resulting page will tell you how much storage is used for various things. On a paid group: Go to Admin from the left menu, then click Billing for the same results.
