I am part of a group that just got moved from Google Groups. I was using a different email address for that group. I couldn't see my other groups when logged into that group.
But I used the (new to me) merge of accounts.
I went to my outlier group and then went to my name in the top right corner.?
I changed my email address to the main one that I wanted to use for all my accounts.
I was prompted about merging. I said yes.?
I think I got an email which I had to accept.
And bottom line, easy peasy, my accounts were merged and all show in my subscriptions.
Very cool!

So if that is the problem, you can fix it.

You can only have one password per account.? It's not a per group thing.? When he changed it, it changed the one on the account for the group(s) he can see.? If he can get to some groups, but not others, he probably has more than one account as discussed recently, /g/GroupManagersForum/topic/26865277

I co moderate a group with a member who is not finding our group in his drop down menu under "Your Groups".
I have tried cancelling his membership and inviting in again to no avail.
He is a member of other Groups IO but our NOG doesn't show up?

As far as I know, the poster's email address is in notifications sent by Yahoo groups also so that is not different (they are in the yahoo groups I'm in).? Gmail may have masked the email address when displaying the message but if he/she views the message source of a yahoo notification, he/she should see the poster's address in the From field.

As far as EU/GDPR Compliance, groups.io is compliant ->?/static/compliance
As far as Google's access to the content of the email, any user of Google services has granted Google the right to access and use the content ->?

I agree with your answers, but I would make one observation I experienced when our group was transferred in January. Even though all members, messages and photos were transferred (I took care of files and links), ownership of photos and photos albums were mostly assigned to the owner of the group (me). It has taken time to reassign those albums to their owners, mostly because many of the owners of those albums never spoke up to reclaim them. The same thing happened to the files, but I caused that ownership problem by downloading and uploading them myself, which I have resolved by giving credit to the owners through file description.

In addition to the issue of flouting the EU privacy requirements, there may be another issue down the line with who would be held responsible for any breaches, as we lodge our email addresses on our groups.io account, not with google and the emails are sent from groups.io.

One of the members concerned sent me this after I explained your reply to them.? The problem is on the emai notifications sent to to the member.
The member uses gmail - maybe there is something happening with google and gmail?

Yes.

On the Yahoo Group Transfer instructions page click on the green Start New Transfer button at the bottom.
/yahootransfer

That will take you to the page where you will initiate your transfer. On it you'll see the list of checkboxes for the various sections to copy. You can then leave that page without actually starting the process.

I recommend that Members be included in the first transfer. Otherwise their addresses won't be in the Groups.io group when other content (Files and Photos) is copied - and so the ownership of that content will revert to you (the account that initiated the transfer).

I can think of three things they might be concerned about:

1) The From address of the posting member, in the From field.
2) The From address of members quoted in the message body.
3) Their own address in the message footer.

How do we stop this from happening as soon as possible as members are
concerned about their information being released.

You can't.

(1) and (2) are in the nature of an email list. To and From addresses are always explicitly known to sender and recipient.

(3) is harmless - it only shows them their own address.

How do I go about doing making them a moderator?

Find the person in the group's Members page, and click on their row (anywhere except the checkbox). That will open the member's subscription page.

The Role control is a drop-list, change it from Member to Moderator.

That will open up some new sections, including Moderator Permissions, Notifications, and Owner Email. Set those options as you feel is appropriate for this moderator's duties in your group. Then at the bottom of the page click the blue Save button.

I co-own a group and sadly the other owner has passed away.

It was very smart of that owner to have planned for this possibility.

At some point, maybe not now but before too long, you should consider promoting someone to the Owner role, so that there will once again be two or more owners for the group. It is the best way to ensure that the group survives whatever life throws your way.

Doing that is the same as promoting to Moderator, except that there won't be a Moderator Permissions section - Owners automatically have all permissions. That includes the ability to demote you - so be sure it is someone you trust in that role.

There are no members in the primary group, as I have just created it.
Is that required?

No.

I don't know if your primary group must be approved before you can create subgroups, but I'll throw that out as a guess.

How would you restrict it to just me the moderator/owner?

The only way I can think of would be to select /Moderate/ for the Attachments option, under Message Formatting in your group's Settings. Then reject messages with attachments (or delete the attachments) when posted by anyone else.

How do you open it up to everyone?

Select /Allow/ in the Attachments option.

Many are computer illiterate and the directions to do things aren't clear enough for the average person to understand. I had one member go to vote in a poll and ended up removing themselves from the group. ? I think the directions need to be written so a first grader can understand them. ? Ilene ? ? ? ? ?

As the owner and originator of the polls, I do not know where/how to view poll results.
