Re: Member Display Name Change?

Yes, Bruce, this IS a subgroup.? I went to the main group as well and the edit was disallowed there too.? The group OWNER couldn't edit it.

Okay, belay that.? I'm not sure what I did last time now, but THIS time when I tried to edit the display name in the parent group, it DID allow me to make the edit.? I've no idea why I couldn't do this the first time.? Okay, I get that it can't be done in a subgroup, which is where I first tried, but I also tried the parent group, and neither group allowed me to change the name.? THIS time, it did.? And I did remember to hit the "Save" button.? ;-)

I got nothing.? No idea where it went sideways.? Thanks for pointing out that subgroups aren't the right place to make this change.? Noted.

Is this in a subgroup? You cannot change Display Name there...you have to make the change in the main group.

Re: Member Display Name Change?

If you would re-read the post, you'll see that I could NOT edit the entry; it ignored all attempts to edit the name.? To save it would have just saved what was already there, which I was not allowed to change.? I fully understand that edits need to be confirmed, and have done so on many occasions, but this edit was disallowed, which is the root of my question.

This applies to virtually all potential changes on literally any screen. Whether made by the member, moderator or owner!

I shot her an email outlining the steps needed to make the change herself, but it leaves me with a question: why was I (and the group owner) unable to make this change?

In checking the Group Owner's manual, it clearly says in section 11.2, third bullet down, "Owners and moderators can edit the Display Name field in individual members¡¯ records (but be aware that members can change their own display names as mentioned above)."?

Either that's not completely correct, something has been changed and the manual hasn't caught up yet, or we're both doing something wrong.? I never bothered to click the "Confirm" button at the bottom of the page, since I couldn't do anything to make the last name letters go away; there was no visible edit TO confirm.? Is this where I went wrong in failing to bring about the requested change?

Thanks for any clarification you can provide!

I'm a group moderator, and I was asked by a new member to change her display name, by removing her last name.? Went to the record, highlighted her last name and hit delete... nothing.? Re: chat room useage

You need to know the context it is being used.

?

I looked it up on the internet and it has meanings depending on context.

Andy - thats useful. We have some information in the form of a string of messages etc that has run its course, which I'd like to ring fence but still allow comment once in a while elsewhere . I'll try this out to see how it works, regards - barry

In case you're not aware, those are two different things.? You're responsible for keeping track of Donations, but the site will show the reserve from Sponsorships.? I suspect that you mean only Sponsorship since a group must be paid to use Donations.

To the best of my knowledge, the amount in reserve is only shown on the /billing page and you may have to post a message to let members know how much is there.

Yes, it can. The owner just needs to set the correct permissions for the Chat feature:

can members of my group see these current reserve?

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Hi - we just hit our group limit of 100 members and I had another wishing to join, so I am soliciting donations/sponsorship from my existing base. For the sake of transparency/accountability, I would like them to be able to view the group's reserve. The current reserve is at $5 dollars (my donation) and the group is still in its "free" (non premium) status.? Is there a way to allow members to view the group's current reserve and if yes, how do I as an admin enable this? Thank you in advance!

Martin

On my iPhone (web, not app), at the bottom of the More menu.??

Re: Group not showing in the app #app

I've never used the app, so I can't address that directly, but I am a member of a group that is on an Enterprise plan and I know that I have to log into it separately from my general log in to groups.io. That is when I am logged in on my browser I can go to all of my groups except for those on the Enterprise plan. When I try to access them I'm asked to log in to them. I have a different password for those. Perhaps your situation is similar and the app can't deal with multiple passwords.
