Re: Mobile App question
#accessibility

Thanks folks - before I saw? your comments, I headed out of town for the morel mushroom foray I was helping coordinate - and where I was using the mobile App.
I was using the mobile App, not the web page in a browser. [However, my experiments Safari, once logged in to groups.io, it pops me straight into the mobile App when I select a group that I belong to.] The suggestion to turn my phone for landscape mode does help with better layout and general visibility - but the text is still too small. [I have chosen 12 pt for this message - that works for me, the 11pt is a strain.] On a positive note - I can use the microphone to dictate a new message in the mobile App, which my hands appreciate. but it's not good for admin tasks liking adding someone since dictation of an email address isn't very pretty. Just as note - I use an iPhone SE (3rd generation) and I think it is too large - I have arthritis and small hands, and find that it is painful to hold for very long. I wish it was smaller in width and height (I liked my iPhone 4 just fine, thought it was the perfect size) - but I know that most people like larger phones. I wouldn't be able to hold anything larger. Maybe the text does display larger on a mobile device with a larger screen (I need to do some research - not that I will ever have a larger device for my personal use, but out of curiosity). I do hope that the accessibility improves. I am in the "senior" category - along with a lot of other baby-boomers, many of whom have embraced their phones. I do a bit of tech support for folks who haven't had a smart phone before, but got pushed into getting a phone by their grandchildren. Unfortunately a lot of Apps, including ones more likely to be used by seniors, aren't doing QA focus-groups with the Medicare crowd. I think I need to figure out how to get paid to give advice to developers on that growing market segment. Thanks again. I just put up a page of Photos of our |
subgroup used for an event, registered people, now that event concluded I want to share messages with parent group and delete the subgroup
#subgroup
I created a subgroup for people registered for an event, where updates could be shared using the mobile App (including locations and other info that wouldn't be shared with the larger, non-registered parent group members), and things were changing in real-time.
People have now also added some post-event comments and photos.? At this point the event is concluded. In a day or two, I will removed everyone from the sub-group, except the subgroup owner and retire the group. BUT would like to share the archive with the larger parent group - but I don't see any way to do that. Even better, I'd to like move the whole message archive (it's only about 20 messages and a few photos) into the parent group and delete the subgroup altogether. It's not going to be used again unless I can rename/recycle it for future events after moving the messages into the parent group. This is something I will want to do often, possibly once or twice a month - have an event-specific sub-group that only includes registered attendees, but share photos and comments afterwards with the folks who weren't able to attend (or in most cases there were constraints on how many people could attend). The 30 people who were on the wait list are interested as are people who had conflicts for the date. How do I do this? Thanks. |
Re: Trouble deleting files
Well, I find I can delete the files using the android app, but it's not easy to navigate to the files. I had to follow an upload message link to get there.
At least I know how to get rid of the old file next month if the update function still isn't working. Thanks for the feedback! Frances (Green, not the Frances I often see posting here) |

Trouble deleting files
This is a recent problem since April (I hoped it was a glitch that would
adjust) I have file that I used to update monthly, but the last couple of months it won't do so, nor will it delete. It gives a confirmation message but it doesn't do the delete. I have to upload the new file with a different name, no problem there. I can delete an unwanted message with no difficulty. In the messages area it has a dropdown options menu but that doesn't appear in the files section, just the icons which I've always used before. Any suggestions? |

Re: New subscriber notifications not being received
The action being logged (and reported) was not by either/any owner/moderator. The action was by the (new) member in accepting the invitation, so all owners/moderators would be notified. At least that how I see the logic going.

How to be notified when a member joins/leaves this group. Seems to me it should do what it says -- and what I select as the option.

Quite so, as I said previously I already have a second account which I have set for digest so I can see what that looks like and a few other tests, but will subscribe it as a second owner on all groups I have so will then receive the aforementioned new subscriber messages Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) I guess you could have a second account as Mod, set to No Email for general messages but still receiving notifications for actions you completed on your other account. |

I guess its more what I have become used to, but also I kept the new subscriber notifications in Thunderbird and deleted the needs approval notifications, its a quick easy way to see the new subscribers rather than go to groups.io Personally I would rather receive the notification but its not going to happen so will work around it Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) With that concept in mind, removing the new subscriber notification for someone you just approved is a bugfix. |
