The traditional solution is to make your group's members trim their post, as in deleting the stuff they don't react to, and have them put their comments below what they do comment on.

Hi everyone,

Wondering if there is a tool or a quick way of pulling out different messages/topics that are within an HTML Digest file?

Post migration from Yahoo groups into Groups.io, many messages ended up stored within a single html file and one html file can have dozens of messages/topics, some with same subject line and others with different subject line as it was changed.?

I did some searches in this group about how to do this, but could not find the answer. Apologies if I'm duplicating the question. Appreciate your assistance.?

i'm new in here. My name is Matilde and i own some groups. I have a big problem, why are the messages all public? Someone who isn't a member in my group can see/read all the messages, how can i change this? Is it even possible??

Maybe I'm missing something, but how do I reply to a post and include the text of the original message in my reply, but have it appear collapsed instead of expanded out?

The quoted text appears nicely hidden behind a 'show me' button when the reply + quote is made through an email client:



But when using the web interface quote button, the quote is always fully expanded. Something like this, with no obvious way to collapse it:

Nick -- You need to get the messages on your computer first. I'm told that it's possible to export messages from Google Groups, in mbox format.

If this export is compatible with the mbox format groups.io uses, Mark can import the messages to your message base for a one-time payment of $220 (ref:?). If your group here is already on the Premium Yearly plan, he might even do it for nothing.

If you find this option too expensive, there is a message upload script available (with limitations) at?/g/GroupManagersForum/message/22251. This script does not preserve message ownership or date/timestamps, but at least will get the posts in your groups.io message archive.

I have a group on here that was on Yahoo! Groups!! and we archived here for posterity. The group is pretty active with 1,000+ members and it moved to Google Groups...

When we moved to GG, we didn't have the first 8 years of messages (they are here, from Yahoo!).

What I'd like to do is merge the GG new stuff with the old Yahoo! messages we already have here, and potentially move here from GG.

How to I get the GG data here? (I'm also admin/owner of the associated GG group).

SCL 5 - Spam Confidence Level 5 - default is to move 6 and above to Junk

A general note on DMARC and Microsoft 365. As seen above, groups.io is rated "dmarc=bestguesspass" and does not warrant any DMARC action. I created another scenario with a different domain that caused DMARC=fail. But I learned that Microsoft 365 does not respect p=reject even when DMARC fails. That's right, it never rejects based on DMARC. It treats p=reject like p=quarantine. The DMARC action is "oreject" (override reject) and the mail is delivered to Junk with CAT:SPOOF. If you have set up the sender as a Safe Sender, it will not be moved to junk. See . So the best you can hope for when setting up DMARC is that messages may be marked as spam; it won't block the spoof messages from being delivered.

Just search by hashtag. Scroll down and you will see the tag.?

Trying to search for Special Notices today, I could see in the Activity pane "sent special message" as vs. "sent message."? But I couldn't see how to search for special notices.? The drop down for search is SO long, but nowhere special message to search by.??

What am I missing?

Our group has MANY files and photos of helps for the community.? However, those asking for help via email seldom or never visited the GroupsIO web page to even look for the documents, specifications or tutorials.? Thus, it's a message dialog going for 5 to 22 replies before a person understands what they need to do.

In a funny and odd twist, the non-members to the Group, aka Joe Public people, tend to stop in and view things or read things without too much trouble.? Just getting the members to this level would relieve so much time waste.

To have a listing of members who visit and those who email would be really handy.? And if possible, have the list generated to show the ID in column-A, total web visit column-B and total email in column-C.? This way, upon review, there could be mixed folks who now how to do BOTH methods.? Typically, those are the people who know how to navigate really well on the web.

I suggest that you persuade your president to become a bit techy. The only available option means quite a bit more work for you as Owner, as follows:

From the Members List click on Download. This will give you a CSV file that needs to be opened as a spreadsheet that includes information about joining date, delivery options, posting status and the like. Printing the spreadsheet in that form will guzzle paper to include all the probably extraneous information so it may be necessary to delete all the irrelevant columns first.

Even with the largely irrelevant material removed you are likely to finish up with a lot of paper being used, depending on how many members you have.

In your position I would say "sorry", you are going to have to process this material for yourself, and here's how...

I'm not seeing a way to print our current member list. I'm the group owner. We are a non-profit and our president wants to see the list on paper. Not everyone is techy :-)

As an administrator or owner of the group, why not post a topic to the group and ask if the member is still there but under another email address?? You may find that she unsubscribed, but subscribed previously with a different email address due to any number of user issues, ie, can't reset password, new computer and didn't save a separate password list, etc, etc...

But based upon personal knowledge of our club's membership I wouldn't be going too far out on a limb to venture that a healthy percentage of those who use email for messages have never viewed our calendar, Files section, and GIO's Search features-;) ?I guess I can just keep hammering away at them via messages, postings on our website and via MailChimp.

You can't be sure of that.? They may have used the group features, but only use email for messages.? One of the better selling points of GIO, in my opinion, is that there's no tracking.? Dumping the log and parsing is about as close as you can get.

When responding to questions on some of my groups (as well as this one), I often include a link to a file, photo, wiki page, etc., so anyone that's interested is using the site, even if I don't know it.

BTW, for something to be considered as a suggestion for the site, you'd need to post it on the .? This is an unofficial user-to-user group.

Not sure if this falls under the #featurerequest or #suggestion category so I tagged it as both.? It may even already be somewhere I missed in the documentation but I searched around and could not find it so here goes...

One of the many reasons we migrated from GG to GIO is its loverly web interface.? Our previous GG folks only used that system via emails to the group so we're trying to get them to use GIO for things like its polls, calendar, searching, etc. but it's an uphill battle -- lots of Luddites.? To that end, I'd like to be able to get a listing of those members who have never accessed the group via the web.?

As I browse thru members' Activity History and the main Activity Log, I see some with messages sent via web but there is a significant # who have ONLY sent messages via email and never logged into the web interface for its additional features.

Is there some way to generate a listing of those members?? I was thinking of dumping the whole Activity Log then parsing it via Excel but wanted to check to see if I'm missing something obvious first.
