removed member still receives messages
Hello, ?
A former Member of our group had two memberships under two separate email addresses. ?The Member removed himself from one of the addresses/memberships, but could not remove the second address, so the Owner removed the second address/membership for him. ?Now neither of this former Member's addresses appear in the Directory, but he still receives group messages at both addresses. ?Does anyone have a cue how to correct this? ? Peter,
The only thing you can do is to go to your subscription page ... andBe careful with that selection though. It means you won't receive messages from Pending members or other non-members who may legitimately want to contact you. I generally recommend that each group have at least one active owner/mod set to receive "All Emails" in the Owner Email panel at the bottom of the Subscription page. Peter,
When someone applies to join our group, a standard message 'PendingIf the person applied by use of the email +subscribe command, and the person has not previously used groups.io, then the Confirmation request is sent promptly, but the Pending Subscription notice is deferred until that person responds to the Confirmation request. If the pending member's entry in the list is still flying the NC badge then they haven't confirmed yet. Is this a bug?No, it is by design. If the person applied by use of the Apply button on your group's home page, and the person has not previously used Groups.io, then both the Confirmation request and Pending Subscription notice are sent promptly. But as Bruce related the Most Recent Successful Delivery panel on the pending member's Email Delivery History page shows only the *one* most recent successful delivery - it can never show the delivery of both the Confirmation request and the Pending Subscription notice. I don't know which goes out first; I don't even know if that is deterministic (the code for each might run in different processes, or even different processors). Re: Not receiving subscription requests
Scott,
into each of the email accounts that I used. Those from gmail and aolIf you didn't receive and respond to the confirmation request then nothing further happens. That's true of all of the email commands, +subscribe included. Perhaps the requests from Groups.io went into those address' Spam folders. Or, in the case of Gmail's web interface, were diverted to the Social, Promotions or other tabs of the Inbox. Re: Not receiving subscription requests
I initially set the group up in January but we are just now about to start inviting people to it.? I copied and pasted the exact same name into each of the email accounts that I used.? Those from gmail and aol did not do anything.? The ones from work and university emails did what was expected

This is the time that the GMail server thought it was when Groups.io connected. q8si5747589ilg.14 is _probably_ a unique code that GMail generated for the connection that Groups.io made to send the message. The GMail engineers can probably use this to find the detailed logs of this connection to debug issues. Good luck getting in contact with one, though. ;-) "gsmtp" is the name of the program implementing the SMTP protocol [2], the way that one computer sends an email to another. It probably stands for "Google SMTP". [1]: [2]: -- Christopher W. <lists@...> |

Any ideas? How new is the group?? Have you tried any of the other accounts since the successes?? Are you sure you spelled the groupname correctly when sending the subscription email?? The more information you can give us, the better our guesses will be.? Based on what you've said so far, I don't see a reason for a subscription request to be ignored. Not receiving subscription requests
I am about to send an email to a large number of people about a new group with the email to request a subscription at "mygroup"[email protected]
I tested out a few emails to make sure it was working.? I have a few accounts on gmail and aol.? None of those accounts received an email back asking for confirmation that I sent the email, my owner email did not get an email and there is no activity listed on the admin page.? My wife and daughter tried with their gmail email with the same non results.? In the past I was able to request a subscription from my gmail account. I then sent an email from my university .edu account and also had my wife send one from her work email and they worked as expected. Any ideas?? I would like to make sure that everyone can request a subscription who wants it Thanks |

Deciphering coding for an email delivery
One of my group members is not receiving emails from the group and when I goto to her entry and look at her Email Delivery History I see the following:
2.0.0 OK 1596171753 q8si5747589ilg.14 - gsmtp She has a gmail email address and is on Daily Summary. Thanks Margaret P Leeds, UK |

I believe that's always the case when someone is creating a new account at the same time as joining a group, the Pending goes out, then the Confirmation.? You're very unlikely to see that the Pending was sent unless you can sneak in for a look between the sending of those 2 messages. It's easy to see if they already have an account because only the pending would be sent. Duane -- The official Groups.io user documentation is in the Groups.io Help Center. Thanks for your response but it, and the link, doesn't really answer my question!Sorry. To expand:? in Settings > 'Member Notices' one of the notices is 'Subscription Pending' and is Active.? However, upon looking at the Pending Members list > Message > 'Email delivery History',? it advises : "Confirmation Message" followed by the date and not "Subscription Pending"...This box displays the delivery status of the most recently sent message only. It could be that the confirmation message is the second one sent. It could also be (if the subscription still has an NC badge) that the Pending Subscription message is being withheld until the confirmation email has been responded to, at which time it will be sent. In either case the most recent message would be the confirmation email, and that would be the one displayed in the box. See also?/g/GroupManagersForum/message/32459 ...hence my question - is this a bug.Hence my answer...no. ? Regards, Bruce Check out the groups.io Help Center?and?groups.io Owners Manual |
