Re: Second group to move
Eric,
?
The description merges the sample into an email address. I don't understand what you're saying there.
?
?
How does the sub-group(s) work when reading online? The same as any other group. In most respects sub-groups are exactly the same as regular groups. The differences mainly involve the fact that the members of the subgroup must be members of the primary group.
?
?
Are messages presented to the users purely in accord with the "visibility" rules? The subgroup has its own Settings page. With mostly the same controls as any other group.
?
It's Visibility setting allows it to be listed in the primary group or not, and its messages to be visible to the subgroup members only, to the primary group members, or even to the public.
?
?
What about people who are members of both the "members" and the "board"? Do they get two copies or does have the logic that says "once is enough"? Messages are posted to the subgroup are emailed only to the subgroup members, in accordance with their Subscription settings for that subgroup (Individual, Digest, etc.).
?
Likewise for messages posted to the primary group.
?
So a member of a subgroup would receive two copies of a message only if the sender of that message sent it to both the primary and the subgroup posting addresses. I'm not sure there's any good reason for doing that.
?
?
Since we can't be certain that all Board members are also members of the main group, what would be the construct using "NAIA..." and "Members" and "Board"? To operate the way I suggested the board members would have to be subscribed to the primary group as well. There's no way around that. They can, however, be set to No Email in the primary group if the primary group's messages would be a distraction to them.
?
Whether they are members of the parent organization in real life or not is a separate question, and not necessarily material to the mailing list organization. The only way I can see a problem with this requirement is if those particular board members should be excluded from accessing the material in the primary group. But that seems far-fetched.
?
I'm using a rather careful approach as this is something we never considered and if mis-handled, can't be easily undone. Understood. If you want to experiment with the features of a group with subgroups, feel free to request membership in my test group, .

Re: rejected payment
I used my debit card to pay for 2 groups. No problem (a Visa debit).

That's about as laborious as it was on Yahoo.? You should be able to script this quite easily, if you know how. /api Samuel |

I can't see that I can update a user's profile name and I want to make sure that's correct.Go to Admin > Members > click the member > edit "Display Name". This affects that user's display name in that group only (and you can't have a different display name in subgroups, I'm told), but as far as I know, the member can then change their own Display Name to something else again. So this is useful (e.g. if it is required to use the real name as the display name, but some members forgot to add it). I know of no way that the moderator can prevent the user from changing their display name (or vice versa). Samuel |

Re: Android phone user unable to reply to messages
It seems to be a client configuration problem. I suggest asking the subscriber if he has his mail client configured to block sending of mail to either subdomain addresses or foreign top-level domains. Unfortunately, he probably won't know. Maybe if he can simply tell us what client he is using someone else here is also using it and can provide further advice.

This pre-filling of subject lines isn't standard, but many e-mail systems or programs do support it in some or other way. It would mean that his e-mail system (AOL Mail) does not support pre-filled subject lines via the mailto link. Does AOL Mail not have its own dedicated "Reply" button? Samuel |

If you can see her, but she can't see your content then I think she should perhaps log out, log back in again and if necessary do a page refresh just to be on the safe side. If that doesn't work then we'll have to think of something else... Chris |

Your attachment show that there are 2 messages in that Topic (you're in Topic view). Clicking on the title should open it in a new page with both of them displayed.I asked about this a couple weeks ago. When you open Messages you see a list of all the topics. Each topic displays the number of messages under that topic. Below each topic is the beginning of the originating message. It would make so much more sense if the beginning of the most recent message was displayed instead, because unless you're keeping track of the number of messages under a topic, knowing how many there are doesn't alert you to a new message. I've failed to find a way to change the listing of topics under the Messages tab to display the beginning of the most recent message(s). Is there a way to do this?
